I asked John yesterday if he would do the same cruise again if Disney offered it and he said, without hesitation - YES!!!

So it is an AYE from us too.;)

Come on DCL - Panama Canal for 2010!!:cool1:
I'd love to as well, but will they do it again? When the new ships come, won't they have 2 ships in LA permanently? I'm confused.

One sad thing. We came home to the news that our very new neighbours, who we really like and get on with really well had had dreadful news. Quintin, the husband has just been diagnosed with a rampant malignant brain tumour. There is nothing that can be done. Treatment would only extend life and not for long. They say he might have only had it for 2 weeks, and he could die very soon. How awful and unbelievable in just such a short time.
Oh, I'm so sorry. How awful. Prayers for him and his family, and for you & John in dealing with this.

Keith was sobbing after left the Cruise. He was crying for almost half hour and left me lump in my throat. Olivia was fine. I didn't take the picture of him crying. Too sad for us too.
Aw, poor Keith! :(

Good morning all.

There is one left over piece of business from this cruise. We fired our dog sitter. Well, not fired, we just won't have him back again.

Our upstairs neighbors (our tenants) gave us an earful about how they thought the dogs were being treated. They own 2 dogs too and so are pretty sensitive to these issues.

They said that Truman and Tallulah were locked up too much. They heard him yelling at them and they often heard the dogs howling and crying when he went out (they never make a peep when we go out, even though they are put in their crate).

We were really PO'd. Sukie is absolutely FURIOUS, because of the breach of trust.

Our dogs are tiny. If you put them together they weigh about 19 lbs combined. They don't need to be walked because they are litter box trained. All they need is feeding, cleaning up after, and cuddling.

He also complained to our upstairs neighbors (tenants) that he wanted us to come home because he was "over it."

In my mind, this was very easy, cash for this this guy. Little responsibility and sitting on his butt watching TV and HD DVDs.

The ironic thing is that he really needs the money and this was also our way of helping him out, while he was also doing a us a favor.

It could have been a win-win. Lower cost for us and easy cash for him.

So, we're back to boarding.

This is really a case where this guy bit the hand that fed him.
Oh my gosh, what a jerk that guy was! I can't believe he could be so cruel when you trusted him to take good care of your dogs. I'd fire him too. Sorry your doggies had to deal with that jerk. :( Give them lots of extra loving.

What are the dates for the B2B? I think we're booked on one of the two, might book the second ...

Hi guys....you MUST do both with the rest of us. We need more shots around the ship and it wouldn't be the same without you!

Sept 12 is the Tortola Eastern and Sept 19 is the B2B Western!

Congratulations on your pending nuptuals.....after 21 years I think it's about time! We're with you in thought, wish we could share it for real. Please post pictures!

Sorry you are still ill. Neither of us here caught anything which is very unusual. I think I am so old I have had all the bugs now and am immune!!!;)

I did always used to catch something on the flight over which developed 3 days after arriving!! Planes are the worst place to catch things. Then I felt bad for much of the vacation.
I was starting to think Tyler & I were the only ones NOT to get sick. How awful for everybody.

Well if they do the Southern again.....we'll be right there with you. They are our favorite ports of call.....especially Barbados.
St Lucia was our favorite.
We loved the 10 night southern as well... Barbados was great because we went swimming with turtles, the only port we didn't like was Antigua. We didn't have an excursion and they were pretty pushy in the port.

My only problem now would be that 10 days is too short! :)
We toured a pineapple farm in Antigua and LOVED it. The people were very friendly.

I'd love to as well, but will they do it again? When the new ships come, won't they have 2 ships in LA permanently? I'm confused.

Yes, two on the west coast we just heard from a CM at DL. But, they will have to GET THEM THERE!! :thumbsup2

Here is a shot of Cheri in the position I think she was in all day for the crossing of the Canal.

At least everytime I wandered by I saw her there!

We have suffered badly from jetlag this time Cherie.:( Usually on return from Florida we don't have much of a problem, just extreme tiredness, but this time we have been awake in the night, dozy during the day and wide awake when due to go to bed!!! John has snoozed quite a bit but I haven't slept during the day!:( I feel much better today though and slept well last night.

I so miss seeing you around. It was lovely chatting with you(and John really enjoyed his chat that day with you on his own), but so sad we didn't get round to having a coffee together. Where did the time go? We will definitely be getting over to AZ sometime so will have that coffee then. Unless of course we change our cruise date for September '09!! I worry about cruising in hurricane season though.

Yes, I really enjoyed my deck 4 chat with John! One of those happy coincidences that we were at the same place at the same time. Well, let's make a pledge NOW that we'll have a coffee/tea date in Sept. 09, OK?

I'm so sorry to hear about your neighbor--what a shock to come home to. Like Lisa said, life is unpredictable. I learned that lesson when my father died suddenly at 60. I'll keep you and your neighbors in my prayers.

Poor Keith! I hope the kids feel better after a good rest in their own beds. I did my weeping at the show Sat. night, but it didn't mean that I wasn't crying inside when I left!

Good morning all.

Oh Ian, reading this just made me sick inside! I wish we lived closer, I'd dog-sit for you in a heartbeat! I'm dog-sitting for my sister this week and for a friend later this month.

You're right.....how could I ever do another 7 night when 15 went so fast. John and I will have to talk about it.

I loved LA.....everywhere we went and everything we did was awesome. Even the weather was perfect, not too hot and not too cold.

Vegas was ok....I didn't like it as much as I liked LA. We only gamled our last hour there and I won $200 at the quarter slots. The pool was overcrowed, the heat was unbearable. I don't think I like the desert....at least not there. The drive from LA was barren and dry and hot. I'm more of a coastal person, I need an ocean.

I have some more pics to post of California Adventure and Las Vegas from the trip.

Deb, your pictures are great! Your description of the LA to Vegas drive is perfect! :lmao: I'm with you--a coastal person!

ok, I need something to plan.

Uhhh....how about Sept. 12, 2009???

That is what I really would have thought! Ah well!!!

How about thoughts on cruising in hurricane season?

I was a little concerned, but I figure that's why they have travel insurance! It sounds like from what others are saying that it's not a problem.

Well, its hard to believe its been a week since we turned the ship over to other cruisers. I'm still fighting my sinus infection/cough although am about 80% back to normal. .

Welcome back, Kelly!

So John and I are sitting here laptop to laptop having coffee....he doesn't go back to work until tomorrow. Naturally, we discussed the subject of Back to Back on the Tortola cruise.....we think we will do this too with everyone else.

So we're home for one day and we're already planning our next two Disney trips. Remember......Resistance is futile!

Truer words were never spoken!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I'm still hoping for 2010, but we might manage 2011 if they take the Magic or Wonder through for their taking up residence. Until the new locks are complete, the new ships can't do the transit.

I didn't get out as much as I had hoped but it was a great trip anyway. Thanks to everyone for all the FE gifts. I did see a few of you in the halls but I guess I ran opposite to many of you.

DEB! I'm so glad you posted this pic! And I'm glad I'm looking while at work so I can actually see the pic. Tyler misses Bethany so much, so I printed this out here at work and will take it home for him to keep. :goodvibes

That is sad news, Marilyn.

Prayers to both husband and wife.

A question about moving an onboard rebooking.

If you move a 7 day booking to another date but add the next week to make a B2B, do you get the onboard discount from the 2nd week as well with it being one booking, or am I being too hopefull?

Unfortunately I think you're being too hopeful :goodvibes

Ian,

Sorry to hear about this. Not nice at all. How did Truman & Tallulah react when you guys got home? How are they now?

DH and I have cruised DCL at the height of hurricane season every Sept. since 2002. The weather is almost always perfect because the captain will take you to perfect weather if at all possible. As long as you don't have your heart set on certain ports of call it is a great time to cruise. Of course there never is a guaratee that you will make your ports anyway. We did have to outrun a hurricane one time and miss CC. We were diverted from an Eastern to a Western one time. And another time we had to miss Key West. None of this mattered. They were all great cruises.:thumbsup2 This is the first Sept. we will not be cruising since 2002. The WB repo was definitely worth missing this Sept. though. It was our best cruise to date!

I'll be happy just being on the ship:thumbsup2

Well we might just see you on the B2B. I have just priced it up and it is looking good.

I can't seem to find a decent room to have for the 2 weeks though. Strangly Cat 6's available on Deck 5 for the first week are not available the 2nd, and ones on Deck 6 available the 2nd week aren't available for the 1st week. Looks like we will either have to have a room in an area we aren't as keen on if we want 2 weeks in one room.

Marilyn,

Find a room avail for the 1st week and then even if it doesn't come up avail for the 2nd - type in that orig stateroom nbr...5124 is avail for both.

If not, just book what ever then call DCL and ask them to do the search for a room avail for both.
