Westboro "Group" plans to protest after teens killed

Church spokesperson Shirley Phelps says, "To help you connect the dots from your rebellion against God, your idols, your false gods, your filthy manner of life, teaching your children that God is a liar and rebellion against His standards."

-----

I went to chuch on Sunday and the pastor said that the devil has been roaming the earth for a long time and that he knows the Bible well, inside and out. The Westboro "church" is an example of this. They'll use the Bible to twist meanings and cause harm. If you ever doubt real evil exists, look to these people.

Freakshow Freddie and the Inbreed Clown Posse are anything but sane.

Let them protest, let them spew their hate because in the end people are seeing them for what they really are. Oddly enough, Freakshow Freddie and his Clown Posse have probably made more people sympathetic to gay rights-because nobody wants to be lining up on his side of the argument. Freddie and his crew show the absurdity and evil of anti-gay bigotry.

Again, ignore, ignore, ignore them. They are not worth your attention.

Westboro was scheduled to protest against my college's performance of The Laramie Project. The school organized a peaceful support of the LGBT community on campus. Westboro never showed after advertising heavily they would be on campus.

The same thing happened here. Theatre Cedar Rapids did "The Laramie Project" last year and WBC never showed up like they claimed they would. But, we did have 100+ supporters for "The Laramie Project" show up in the freezing cold with love-filled messages on their signs. :goodvibes

My dad used to say that the Devil could make the Bible say anything he wanted it to simply by flipping pages. He often used this example "And he committed adultry....( flipping pages)... Go ye therefor into the world and do likewise" :rotfl2:

These people seek attention. They forced our town to get rid of a 10 commandments stone that was in a park. They also sued to try to get the cross removed from the Mountain, they filled miserably with that one! :thumbsup2

one day someone will snap on all of them....

And I will laugh. They have it coming to them, here or in hell.

I find it so funny that they seem to believe that God "hates" everyone but them.

Is anyone else just biding their time so everyone else can go protest at one of THEIR loved ones funeral, stating that God hates Bigots?

I know two wrongs don't make a right, but I just had to say I like the way you think ...

Was that somewhat recent? I remember hearing about a cross on a mountain trying to get removed.

I'm surprised they wanted the town to get rid of the 10 commandments, since they are so called "Christians"

They said if the city could have that in the park that they could have an anti-homsexual statue. The 10 commandments were moved to the a nearby church.

The cross was in Boise and was a couple of years ago I think. I cant remember but it seems like it had been there longer than another ruling so it got to stay.

DO NOT HAVE A COUNTER DEMONSTRATION

I know people mean well trying to go down and protest against the hate and ugly or whatever but all it does is take away from what people should be focusing on and that is the lives and loss of four beauitful girls and the families devastated. This group will try to turn the memorial services into media circus.

I don't know that I agree with this advice. There are many many beautiful ways to prevent them from disrupting the funeral, such as surrounding the group with people holding up blankets.

Or you could do something kind of funny, like this: http://laughingsquid.com/san-franciscos-answer-to-westboro-baptist-church/

I live an hour away from the church's home base so we see them a lot. In fact, I counter-protested them once. They were protesting the play "The Laramie Project" being put on at Kansas State University. (I guess when you're only an hour away they actually show up to protest this play). But long before they were protesting funerals, the group protested every college graduation ceremony around. They are media *****s, nothing more. But that doesn't mean they should be allowed to write hateful words and disrupt solemn occasions.

Here is a link to K-State's "dates with hate"--info about how we protest Phelps around here.

This is how they make a living. Another way is that they sue towns that won't grant a permit for them to protest. They then claim that the church is broke, the justice department has a "slush" fund that pays for legal fees in these situation. So Westboro lawyers bill the justice department. Yep, they have a legalized scam going.

I do believe many of the Phelps children themselves are lawyers.

You have to ask the Patriot Guard Riders to be there. A family member must contact them, they won't come just because they hear about, they must be invited. Not only would I invite them, I would set up a phone chain of some local dads. Have these dads on standby for if this "church" shows up. The dads only have to do what the PGR do, and that's build a human wall to shield family and fellow classmates from seeing them. The key also is to not speak to or acknowledge them in any way. Pretend they don't exist. Keep your backs to them.
Best of luck!

I agree. I thought the same thing. I have been at a funeral where they were in attendance. They were wonderful and they are more than willing to rev those big engines to drowned out the protests.

That's only constitutional. The 10 commandments shouldn't have been placed on public land. If one religious statue is allowed, you'd have to allow any. That means the satanists could put their statue up right next to the 10 commandments, and it would have to be allowed.

I find it conerning that they are sooo against homosexuality to the point of blaming everyone and everything. I'd bet the farm they are protesting out of fear, because one of them, if not most of them, are trying to deny being gay.

The day that Fred Phelps or any member of his "church" stand before the Lord, I have no doubt the Lord will say "Fred, you SO did not get it."
