I didn't want to post the link because some of the photos can be considered offensive language to some, BUT you can google it. I guess the Westboro group met up some resistance with the comic book crowd. - I LOVE IT!!!!!

I love the guy dressed up as Bender (from Futurama) - too funny! Here's the picture, there's no offensive language in this one.

Geez.. Westborrow really messed up with this one.. th Comic Geeks create their OWN universes.. they are on the same level as GOD, so of course he hates them. But whats he going to do vs a level 200 Mendaly Shield of Enlightenment?

First of all :rotfl:

Second, we are going to Comic-Con this weekend. :yay: If the protesters are still there, I hope my kids don't notice. But aside from that and the traffic :scared1: I am so excited I can hardly stand it!!

I love it. Way to go Comic-Con!! I bet WBC was seething because they didn't expect this type of reaction. :rotfl:

A quote from one article:

"They've faced down humans time and time again, but Fred Phelps and his minions from the Westboro Baptist Church were not ready for the cosplay action that awaited them today at Comic-Con. After all, who can win against a counter protest that includes robots, magical anime girls, Trekkies, Jedi and...kittens?"

So do you go all out and dress up and COSplay?

I have only been to 1 Con and it was a anime-con in KC, MO.

Just waiting for the freaks to show up at DragonCon in Atlanta.... that crowd is a bit more "diverse" than the Comic-Con crowd. Just not as numerous. At least the 501st isn't lowering themselves to the freaks' level.

Hate to tell them, there's Christians in SF, Comics, Anime, etc. Fandom. :hippie:

Oh, how it'd make DD20's day if they showed up at Otakon next week...

Nope, you might mess with defenseless, grieving parents but don't take on those cosplay kids. They plot, plan, and prepare all year just dreaming of occassions such as this which never materialize. It'd be the highlight of the weekend...:lmao:

That's funny! I love the counter protest pictures. And yes, there are Christians who are fans of science fiction. But in my opinion, Westboro Baptist Church is a very bad example of being a Christian anyway, so I'm sure the Comic-con fans didn't mind the mock-protest.

Too funny!

Westboro Bapist's arms must be real tired from all the stones they're throwing..

I agree. Calling them Christian is so far off the mark. They in no way represent God or Christianity. They are full of hate, anger and vile words.

I love this one:

They're mostly lawyers who hide behind the law to get away with their protests, but I wonder how they would react if others pulled the same "legal" crap to protest them on their home ground.

I'll see you there Darth. Oh, and btw, did you ever see the Hawaiian print Stormtrooper armor?

I heard about the WBC being at Comic Con a few days ago. They recently protested at a couple of Lady Gaga concerts and some Gaga fans counter protested.

The WBC will find anything about any event or person to protest at. They have protested at a lot of events hosted by a lot of TV evangelists. They have also picketed Catholic Church, synagogues and other Jewish centers. I remember there another thread on here in which one poster said that the WBC planned to picket her child's school because they were doing a production of The Laramie Project.
