This may be a very difficult thing to figure out but here it goes

I'm trying to come up w/ a half way spot to meet family for an overnight at the end of the month.

Some of us will be coming from the Baltimore Md area, and the rest from Ohio. About 4 hours from Cincinnati and 4 hours from Balto would be perfect.

Doesn't have to be somewhere w/ tons of stuff to do, as it is going to be just from Saturday morning, spending the night, and then returning home early Sunday evening.

Just an area with decent hotels, and restaurants, and maybe some cute shopping areas, as we will be all female.

Any thoughts?

Just a suggestion for your girls' get together:

Morgantown, WV. Lots of restaurants, shopping and activities. It would be probably be about 5 hours from Cincinnati and 3.5 hours from Baltimore. Check out the Waterfront Place Hotel in downton Morgantown for special rates. Very nice hotel with a restaurant and two lounges. Also, there are several businesses that offer spa services.

Another suggestion (from a former WV girl) would be Parkersburg. It's about 5 hrs from Baltimore and 3.5 hours from Cincy. Of course, coming from Baltimore, you would drive right by Morgantown, so that might be better for you. I'm just partial to Parkersburg because that's where I grew up.:)

Tell me about Parkersburg.

Morgantown would be lovely, and we usually meet my MIL there, but the group from Ohio will be traveling w/ my mom, and an infant, so it would be better for them to have the shorter trip.;)

Looking for a nice hotel area, w/ an indoor pool would be great.

I'm right smack dab in the the middle of three great locations....Charleston, Huntington, and Parkersburg. Only an hour from all three. And we just so happen to be the home of the Mothman and the first Battle of the Revolutionary War! :) We actually travel to all three locations for shopping and dining.

Tell me about Parkersburg.

It's a small town that sits on the Ohio river. There is a really nice historic hotel downtown called The Blennerhassett, but I don't think they have a pool. There are several other hotels in the area though, and I'm sure one of them has a indoor pool.

As far as things to do, there is a mall for shopping. There is also the Fenton Glass Factory (if you're interested in that type of thing). There used to be river boat cruises, but I'm not sure if they still have those or not.

You might also want to look at Marietta,OH ( so about the same driving distances). It's right across the river from Parkersburg and is a nice, small, college town. There are several nice hotels there as well.

Here are a couple of links with more information. Hope that helps.:)

MY DD used to live in Parkesburg and we wouild stay at the Comfort Suites. Very accommodating with an indoor/outdoor pool. That was our favorite hotel in that area of WV.
