We are heading to Disney in November and my mom who is an avid quilter discovered that there is a major quilting show on in West Palm Beach. I did mapquest and it is about 2 1/2 drive from our hotel so we could do a day trip down there. What I need help on is what kind of things are there for a 5 year old to do? I would drop my mom off at the quilt show and let her spend a few hours while I take my son to do something else. I just don't know what there is to do - any ideas or suggestions?:confused3

I was born, raised, and now raising 2 of my own in Jupiter. Which is on the north end of Palm Beach county. Where exactly the show at? You see 'West Palm' tends to become like an umbrella term for the middle part of our county. So I wouldn't wanna suggest something that's 50 miles out of your way... :goodvibes

The convention center on 650 Okeechobee Blvd of West Palm Beach is where the quilt show is at. So anything relatively close to it would be great.

Thanks!:)

Palm Beach Zoo off of southern blvd. Bring a swimsuit for the kids. Has a fountain water area.
CityPlace take the trolley over to Clematis and walk around the waterfront on the intracoastal waterway. They have the fountains down there also for the kids to play in.
Beach is always nice. Lake Worth or Singer Island would be the closest if you are staying downtown.
Lion Country Safari is alot of fun also. its out west off southern blvd. You take the car through the safari and then park. They have their own little theme park so to speak complete with a waterpark area.

Mamalle has made some great suggestions. Here's a little more info about them. :)

City Place is right across the street from the convention center. There is a very nice movie theater, restaurants and shops. Although most are too pricey for my taste. And the trolley that goes back and forth between down town is great. Downtown does have a fountain and Sloan's ice cream. Which was once featured on a travel channel show of the top 10 outrageous bathrooms. As well as shops to look around at. There is also a land/boat tour of the area that leaves from city place called duck tours. It's super cheesy fun. :rotfl:

Palm Beach Zoo and South Florida Science Museum at Drear Park are also good suggestions. They are right across the street from one another. Zoo is small in comparison to those in large cities. But still fun. Lots of monkeys that little ones tend to enjoy watching. And since you will be here in november the animals will probably be more active. Like PP said they too have a fountain. But it will be november. Too cold for me to be in the water, but maybe not for you? The science museum is very kid friendly with lots of hands on activities. They also have a planetarium and aquarium.

Lion County Safari is also fun. You ride through the "safari" in your own car. Kinda like the ride in Animal Kingdom. Only there is fencing between you and the animals. At the end there is a small gentle style theme park and zoo. Petting zoo, mini golf, ferris wheel, you can hand feed giraffes.

Wish I could come up with more than that for you. But many things around here for kids are seasonal to the spring and summer months. Most everything in the winter is geared to the snowbirds. ;)

But I'd be happy to answer questions if you have any.
