West Jet from MCO - DME Question

We have never flown out of Toronto to Orlando, only driven or flown from Buffalo, so I am unsure of the DME process. My son (16) and his friend will be flying out of Toronto to join me as I will already be in Disney visiting my daughter who is working at Disney for the summer.

When they fly out of YYZ can they use the luggage tags for their West Jet flight? If so, will they have to retrieve their bags from baggage claim before they proceed to DME? I thought that when we got our DME package it would answer my question, but I am not sure if flights from Toronto are considered international in that they will have to go through US customs at MCO, or does that happen at YYZ?

Put the yellow DME tags on your bags when you drop them off at Pearson. Next time you see them will be in your hotel room at WDW! We used DME probably 3 times before we actually trusted it, but they haven't lost a bag of ours yet.

You will clear customs before you leave Toronto so there is no need to collect your bags in Orlando unless you land after 10pm.
