West Cruise -not accepting additional crusiers

We booked the special west coast cruise when they first came out. At the time we booked for three persons and booked a cabin that slept four. We did this with the idea of adding a fourth person and were told they could be added at a later date. When I called about a month ago to do this I was told that these cruises are full and no passengers can be added. I thought this was odd and asked for a supervisor and she confirmed this. I don't think this is fair and can't imagine Disney not getting money for a room that accomodates four people.

Has anybody ever heard of this.

Other posters have mentioned that, while there may be space in the cabins for a 4th passenger, they may not be room in the lifeboat for that section of the ship. In other words, they don't have enough lifeboat space for every cabin to be full, so they have to cut off passengers when the lifeboat capacity for that area has been met.

The other thing is that they will only accept so many children on any given cruise. This to keep the child ratio right in the clubs and labs. With these being summer cruises I would think the number of children would be high so if you are trying to add a child that might be the reason.

Allie,

I'm sorry you are having trouble adding your 4th person. Perhaps something will open up somewhere down the line. I would definitely keep calling--weekly if i were you.

Which cruise is sold out?

The same thing happened to us on our upcoming 12/11/04 cruise!!!!!!! Believe me I called EVERY day. Sometimes 2 or 3 times a day to see if there were any cancellations!!! There were no cabins in our price range that slept 4!!! Now of course we could have upgraded to cat 4 or 5, but we hadn't budgeted for that. Well finally at the 11th hour literally, something came available. We either had to cancel by close of business or pay penalty fees to change to another cruise. (we were at the 60 day mark) WEll by the grace of GOD, it all worked out. So, be persistant. I laughingly told my husband that Disney would probably just give us a free upgrade just to get my to stop calling!!!!!lol

Good luck

I'm on that cruise. :) Near the 60 day mark I did notice cat 10's and higher available for 4 but now the cheapest thing for 4 is a cat 9 GTY.

I booked mine late - back in August/September and got a cat 9 on deck 2 for 4.

See you in 7 weeks. :)

you wouldn't happen to be traveling with any teenages would you? My ds15 and dd16 are searching for other teens on that cruise. At this time I've found no other disers traveling with teens!!

As noted on other posts this does happen though the exact reason may never be known. The reservation agent should have explained this to you when you made the reservation. The way we have avoided this in the past is to book for the maximum number of passengers who can occupy the cabin. Even if you don't know who they will be yet...they will be listed as TBA (To Be Announced). You would then provide the name(s) as you confirm family/friends will in fact be sailing with you or you would cancel the reservation for the third or fourth person if need dictates. DCL specifically allows this practice, however some travel agents WILL NOT allow TBA reservations and WILL REQUIRE you to provide the names of ALL passengers.

The drawback is you'll need to leave a deposit for each of the passengers in you cabin.

to avoid this on the repo cruise we had TBD for one person in one of our staterooms (and paid the $250 deposit for that spot) - and just recently called to change "TBD" to an actual name.

I had this happen with the May repo cruise. My mom decided at the last minute to join us, but DCL wouldn't allow a new passenger as the ship was "at capacity".

Well, I had my TA (Dana at micdan.com) try again and yesterday my mom was added as the 3rd person in my cabin!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Just keep trying.....

Congratulations on being able to sail with your Mom.

I wonder if you were able to book your Mom due to our cancelling our "TBA" a few days ago. We were hoping to invite a friend to sail with us on the May repositioning cruise but as it turns out we'll be sailing just the two of us (Me and DW). Just this Monday I called to cancel the third passenger in our cabin. Could it be?

Wow, maybe!? LOL!! I DO know that it seems as though at this point a lot of people are over the initial buzz and reality is already kicking in. Seems like people are dropping out of the August Repo big time, and apparently same thing with May. Although, I think for the May cruise, it's more like your situation - cancelling the "TBA"s and not full cabins.
