It would be a great help to people going on the West Coast cruise to read your review of the excursions that you went on.

Was they great? Was they just okay? Did you hate one them? I know there are not very many of you who can answer this question so your opinion counts!

In PV we did "Dolphin Excursion and Dolphin Excursion for kids"...while it was nice to pet a dolphin and do a "kiss" w/them, we wished we had called in soon enough to do the "swim" instead as it was only a couple of dollars more and they got double the time and fun w/the dolphins (and were in the same pool at the other end).

In Mazatlan, we private toured w/Frank...was the best tour! Book him if he is available as he is wonderful to work w/ and really knows his stuff.

In Cabo, did a beach day so no shore excursion. I know it was terribly windy our day in Cabo which made many on the kayaks sick and not very good snorkeling.

In PV we did the City tour, it was good, and it included a meal which was good.
In Maz did a tour through Frank, we had Tomato, he was good, wished we could have had Frank, but it was his same company
Cabo, we just shopped. All within good walking distance, and since it was really our last chance to shop we did.
Kinda wished we had done the beach, but it was Windy in Cabo that day, infact just tendering back to the ship, almost made me sick, and it did give me a bad headache.
It was very rough sailing back to CAlifornia, I hear it always is, I don't know my first trip, but it was rough.

Is there a priate ship cruise on any of the excursions or is that only on the Carribean Magic cruises.

There was a pirate ship in PV. I was in the elevator with a family who did it. They said it was a lot of fun. And I saw it leaving and coming back it looked like fun. I don't know if it was a Disney excursion or not. But the people said while they had a great time, there were people getting sea sick on the ship, it was a little rocky..

We did the Paradise Beach Adventure in PV and loved it. Great facilities and great beach. At Cabo San Lucas we did the Harbor Cruise/Scenic Drive and it was awesome. You rode a catamaran to the Los Arches and then around the Magic and then a bus ride to a restaurant to overlook the whole area. Great for picture taking. I would recommend both.

At Cabo we did the Land's End Coastal Cruise. We went out on a spotlessly clean, modern catamaran. We went along the coast, past Los Arcos (lots of seals around.) We went along the Pacific coast for a bit, turned around and went past Los Arcos again. This gives everyone the opportunity to see it no matter which side you're on.

I give this one a thumbs up if you want to shop and walk around for a bit and still see some highlights. It doesn't take too long and we really enjoyed getting a close up look at this famous natural landmark. :flower:

The pirate ship in PV is a Disney excursion, it's called Pirate Sail & Snorkel Adventure. The name of the pirate ship is the Margilante.

We did the beach escape in Mazatlan. It was great, except for the jelly fish in the water. The problem is that they changed the hotel that day to the La Playa, so I can't say how the other hotel is. But the food was great and it was easy for all three of us including infant.

We just got back today. In Puerto Vallarta, we did the Las Caletas Hideaway, and it was great! We are snorkelers, but the snorkeling area was really small, so we took advantage of their offer to try scuba diving (first time ever). It cost $35 per person, and we were underwater for 45 minutes. It was fantastic! The whole Las Caletas area is beautiful. We taxied to the shopping area before returning to the ship, and that was fun, too.

In Mazatlan, we nabbed a private van in the port area. $20 per person, we toured the whole city. We got to stop anywhere we wanted for any length of time we wanted. We shopped, saw the Cliff Divers, the old town square & it's beautiful church, the market, a cannery, the shrimp boat area....they sell buckets of shrimp, lobster....fascinating. And then of course, we went shopping.

In Cabo, we chartered a private catamaran that took us to see Los Arcos, and then to Playa Santa Maria. We actually saw a lot of different species of fish there.....almost as good as the Caribbean. They served lunch and drinks....the cost was $45 pp. and was worth more than that to us. It was a beautiful boat. And then, of course, we did more shopping before tendering back to the ship.

We enjoyed all of it....even the chilly air closer to California.

justmestace -

Hi we are also doing the Las Caletas for our July 2nd cruise. Anything we should know/bring/wish you had brought/done?

My 17 yr.old son has been dying to try scuba diving. I always tell him he needs training/certified to be doing this. Can you tell me a little bit about this. Were you comfortable/okay with the whole thing. He is a great swimmer and has snorkeled - who knows perhaps my 19 yr. old might want to try it out too.

Thank you.

We are doing the Los Veranos Canopy tour in PV and riding with Randi in Mazatlan next week. Both have excellent reviews on other boards. Would love to get a DIS opinion. Any experience with either of these? :sunny: TIA.

Just back----
PV--- We did the Las Caletas Hideaway which like JustMeStace says is fabulous. Nice crew, fun time on ride out. We have DD2, DS5 DS8 and they all loved it. Great food. Nice beach. Overalll wonderful. One of the best DCL excursions we have ever taken. We also took taxi to town to walk around after returning.

Mazatlan---We did not do any DCL excursions however we took taxi to El Cid Castilla Beach Resort which was inexpensive $10 for 6 of us and they welcomed us with open arms to use all facilities for the exchange of considering to return on another vacation for a stay there. 6 pools which included ledges for kids to jump off into a deep pool, waterslides, waterfalls, swimup bars, beach....This is in the golden zone so we then walked around and took taxi back to boat.

Cabo---We also did not do a DCL excursion but haggled with shore vendors to take us on the harbor cruise and drop us at lover's beach for 2 hours then pick us up and drop us at the "Office" beach and after GREAT food and drinks take us back to the tender dock. Great time!!!!!! Haggle well in all of these places and if you walk away the price really starts to fall. We paid $40 for all of this at Cabo for 6 and the other DCL people that were on our boat who we did not know paid over $100.
