i know we probably won't get the answers till the first couple cruises, and after people post their observations and what nots, but it's kinda fun to wonder.....

so here's what i'm wondering about, regarding this west coast cruise...

will there be a mickey ear to walk through as we board the ship?
will the terminal be all disney?
and will there be that model of the ship?
will they still only have palo brunch/tea on sea days?
will disembarkation be as smooth?
do we still put out luggage out in the hallway?
about the various theme nights, and when they would be?
what special things/events are they planning? if any?

i could go on and on...it's my obssesive compulsive planning behavior surfacing here! what about you guys? any thoughts, or things you are wondering about?

i just can't wait!!!!! :flower:

If the shows will stay the same, will the menus change, is there any place at the port to pick up a rental car.

I just can't wait. I've started having my cruise dreams already so I sprayed some of the air freshener used on the ship around the house today to get me thinking.

Oh and 1 more thing - will we have a special castaway club gift for the Mexican cruise.

As far a the castaway cay club gift yes they will have them. I asked the first day i made my reservation.

Im wondering how are they going to fit 14 days of entertainment( im going on the eastern bound repo cruise) Im hoping that they will have big time Disney entertainers performing. To me it would only make sense. Bring them on for a night to perform instead of making a weeks worth of shows. I mean i wouldnt mind seeing george lopez one night and hillary duff or christie carlson ramono or raven. I guess only time will tell.

But them again i love to plan but im kinda excited not knowing whats in store for me. :hourglass

I'm wondering what it will be like at the new ports of call..... pirate:

I drove by the terminal on Saturday & there is no sign of Disney ears, decorations anywhere.

There's an Enterprise rental car across the street. (I took pics but they're still on my camera.)

Here's what I want to know:
When are formal/semi formal nights.

-->I am mostly curious is embarkation will go smoothly...
I was thinking that passengers will likely arrive sporatically instead of by the bus load as most people will have to arrange their own transportation (except for a few busses coming from DL?). Maybe that will smooth out the process (no long lines?)
-->I am also curious what the waters will be like...anyone had experience sailing the Pacific between LA and Mexico in the summer?
-->Can't wait to see the themes...since this isn't Caribbean or Bahamaian, it's Mexican...no Pirate nite, so far we know that... They better make a mean Margarita!
-->Will we have to tender to the ports? or will they have pier space? Pretty sure we will tender to Cabo...
-->Just how hot will the weather be??:sunny:
-->Will they ever offer west coast cruises again?? We left coasters deserve our own Disney ship!

Since we are celebrating the 50th bithday, I wonder if we will all get special "presents" in our staterooms!

Will they have birthday cake for dessert?

Will it be as good as their other cruises?

I am wandering if upon our return, whether or not the airlines will meet at the terminal to pick up luggage from those of use that have Disney transfers...

I am also wandering upon our return, what is the latest time the disney transfers will run from the port to the airport? My family thought about touring San Pedro upon our return, but we have purchased Disney Transfers. Our flight out of LAX doesn't leave until 10:55pm - That will make for a LONG day!!

I am wandering what special events they will have for kids and families.

Will they show new shows in the theater at night?

How hot is hot on the West Coast? Is it humid hot or just hot?

Will we get a special commemorative gift for being on the first ever West Coast disney cruise?

I'm pretty sure some people will be arriving on buses from the airport also. I saw buses (some said "coach") arriving at the pier for the Diamond Princess.

It doesn't get humid hot here unless we're having Santa Ana winds (not very often) but it can be humid hot in Mexico.

TCHoney: Are you sure you don't want to arrange your own transportation? I have a feeling you'd be spending a lot of time at the airport otherwise.

Im another one interested in which nights are the formal/semi formal nights and if we are having the same menus...and what nights. We just booked the REAS last night so Im starting to think of when to do Palo. I would like to do it the night of the Captains Gala menu(if we even have that) because its the least appealing to both DH & I. However if thats formal night I dont want to miss formal night with the kids so Id do it another night.

Also, Id like to know what the activities on board are for the adults and kids, but I could wait on that. Thats just out of curiosity. I really "need" to know about the menus for planning. ;)

We are wondering about all of the above. We are putting the final preps on the trip, booking the disneyland portion after the cruise, flights home, excursions, we are ready to go.

Good thread topic! I wondered about a lot of the same things. I was hoping they'd do Castaway Club gifts since this is my first "not my first" time. When do you get to make your reservations for the REAS package? Do you have to go up to Palo that first afternoon? I would like to know the menu too I guess to choose the night or day to do them.

I hope this works out great so that you Left coasters get your own ship, that would be only fair. Maybe they could have a ship go up and down the Mississippi River for the Mid-westerners?

and tchoney...lax is not like mco, there are no shops, just the regular "airplane shops", like trinket/gift shops, some food shops, etc. it's not like a mall, like mco is. so your flight out is a long time, if you plan on staying at lax. and boring, too, maybe!

menu! another thing i'm wondering about!

i'm hoping those who travel before others will post the info/navigators. and i (we?) thank you for that! :flower:

I'm wondering:

-when semi formal and formal night will be

-I'm also wondering what the "special" night will be since they're not doing Pirate Night (a DCL CM told me to check back next week, they're expecting to have the schedule done by then)

-I'm also wondering what special things they might be doing in honor of DL's 50th anniversary

-I'm wondering, wondering, wondering, planning, planning, planning. Gosh, this is a disease...someone help me........ :teeth:

Are they definitely NOT doing the Pirate night? I heard that was a maybe but hadn't heard anything final? I was hoping for a Pirate night. I'm sure whatever they plan will be fun though. I can't wait to get more info. I want to know what night are formal/semi-formal nights. I want to know the schedule so I can figure out when we will try for Palo's and babysitting.

Looking to hear about things as they all formalize!! :flower:

Rae Ann,
We have 7 people and enough luggage for 7 days. I wasn't sure that we would be able to find round trip transportation and be able to stay together. We don't want to rent a car. I checked online to several different companies, but wasn't sure who to use. I have purchase Disney Transfers, but originally considered having a service provide transportation round trip for us..... Any help that you could provide, I would be grateful!! :confused3 Now that I have actually said it outloud, 10:55pm flight out is a LONG LONG time at the airport!! I wanted direct nonstop flights and that was the only one available for 7 people, so I really didn't have a choice.....

THANKS!
Tina

I know they will have castaway club gifts, I'm just hoping for something different (special) than the towel and pins.

As far as Enterprise rental - I heard from others (I will have to check it out myself) that you can't rent from them and return to a different location. We need a car at the port for the day because we won't fly out until Sunday.

Well, when I spoke to the CM at the beginning of Feb. she made is sound like it was out for sure as there are so many days at sea and so many days in port so they can't have special nights all the time, which is why they're replace Pirate Night with the *birthday* celebration, whatever that might be. I'm in the same spot as you, I want to know so I can make the my Palo ressies....I'll keep you posted!

I could not see them eliminating Pirate night...especially since it seems to be so popular. And on the Repo cruises they have 14 nights to fill with entertainment so I would think keeping the Pirate night would be a good idea....who knows though!!! Arrgggghhh! Yo ho, yo ho, a pirates life for me!!

I've also been told that they will not be having the Pirate night on the 7 day cruises out of LA. Now for the repo cruises, I don't know. I wish they would announce something quickly.........................................................
