By my mom ALL the time (for the drop of a hat most of the time), by my dad just once (and I totally deserved it).

My butt was torn up a few times, usually by my Mom. The worst was being sent out to the yard and picking the switch. There was a neighbor on my street who would spank you, if you got out of line, so we were especially well behaved when he was around.

<font color=navy>Yup - I got spanked, and sometimes with the belt - until I was 12, and then my dad stopped because I was too old to be hit. He never laid a hand on me after that, but by then I had decided that behaving was much more peaceful to me than defiance.

My dad used to make us go get the belt so he could spank us with it.

I was close w/my mom till she passed away, and I'm still very close w/my dad. He would die for me, and I know that.

I've spanked my kids a couple of times and that was for sheer defiance - my dd was 9 and ds was 11. Now I just talk to them, and for the most part that's all it takes.

The one that stands out for me is my mom beating me on the behind with a yellow high heeled shoe. Funny, I can't remember what I did to recieve that one. I do know that I laughed through the whole beating because it was just so absurd. That just made mom try and hit harder.

My dad would either use his hand or a belt.

I bring it up whenever I can just for laughs.

DH got his share also. He and his brother still laugh about their Granny Eilers chasing them around the yard with a fly swatter. That was her weapon of choice.
With their other gram they had to go out and pick their switch.

Yup, both mom and dad spanked us on the bottom, but mom would use a wooden spoon sometimes. Once I got slaped across my face by my dad after swearing (it wasn't even that bad, the "D" word, and just who do you think I learned it from ).

Looking back, I deserved every one I got--it certainly didn't harm me any. And it was never for small stuff, just when we REALLY screwed up. We were almost always punished by being grounded, spankings were rare.

Yes, with a belt reserved for the purpose. It hung on a doorknob in the kitchen within easy reach. My father would snap it sometimes to scare us, even if we hadn't done anything wrong.

Yes, I got smacked but not that often. My grandmother loved to threaten with the wooden spoon and my dad with his belt, but they never used those. My dad would also grab me by my hair sometimes, I hated that.

No. My parents did not believe in hitting their children. We were sent to our rooms (before rooms had TVs, videos, computers, I was born in 1961) or denied a priviledge when we acted up. I guess my parents were before their time--they did "time outs" in the 60's and 70's!

Oh yes, I received many spankings as a child. Mostly from my mom, I remember my sister getting one from our dad and I'm pretty sure I got one or two from him but I can't really remember. Our mom handled nearly all the discipline in our family, all the way from discussions, time outs (she didn't call them that she just said "You come in here and sit down on the sofa until you can behave better than that!" lol), and ultimately corporal punishments. My dad only took care of it if he was the only one home which was extreemly rare. Mom usually took us everywhere with her.

For those that say they (or mostly their spouses) can't stand their parents because of spankings as a child I must say I am the complete opposite. I love my mom dearly and I am very close to her and I loved my dad very much (he passed away while I was still a child). My step-dad (I always refer to him as my dad but he is actually my step dad) didn't come into my life until I was 11 years old so he never spanked me at all but if I had been younger and he had spanked me I can tell you that I would still love him as much as I do right now.

Yep, unfortunately all the time by my Mom, Dad was working most of the time. Mom used anything she could find, wooden heel of a slipper, curling iron cord, grabbing my long hair and throwing me across the room - I busted my lip that time and out of all of these time I don't remember being bad enough to warrant that kind of treatment EVER. I do not talk to my Mom anymore.

Yep, I was spanked a few times, mainly by my mom. I can only remember one time by my dad. I've spanked my kids too. It was usually Bri. I can't remember the last time I needed to discipline Kelsea in any way.

I was only hit once by my dad and once by my mom, about ten years apart.

When I was 6 my dad hit me with his belt, can't remember what I did. It didn't seem like a big deal after a couple of minutes but the next day the whole side of my butt and thigh was bruised. My parents took me to the hospital and the doctor asked to speak with me alone. Since I can't recall the conversation, apparently the doc asked what had happened and I told him I fell off my bike.

My dad never hit me again. Not that he had much reason I was a pretty good kid.

It wasn't until years later that I got my second and last whooping. 16 yrs old getting ready to play in a baseball game and I mouthed off to my mom. She got ticked off and left. After the game my dad and I came home through the garage and my mom ambushed me. She hid behind the door and waited for me to walk past her. Once I did she also used the belt on me. In her blind rage from me being a smartass she grabbed the wrong end of the belt and ended up hitting me with the buckle. It scared me more than anything. We both said we were sorry and ended up having a laugh about it.

Needless to say the ambush has become a thing of legend around our house.

Got spanked quite a few times....and always deserved it. Mom did the spanking every time but once. She loved to use a wooden spoon or a hairbrush. I only got spanked once by my dad and he used a belt. My brother and I decided it would be fun to start a campfire in our room. Got all the dixie cups out of the the bathroom, and pretty soon we had a FIRE! Lucky for us, mom walked in the room before the fire spread to far. When dad got home....we were both already wearing several pairs of underoo's because we knew we were in for it. Let me tell you, I never started a fire in the house after that.

Oh...I'm very close to both my parents. I dont blame my parents one bit for the spankings I received. I know they were all deserved.

Oh yes, regularly! Not that I was a bad kid. In my case it was a mother with a short fuse. And it wasn't a smack or 2 on the hiney, it was about 20 HARD smacks with a belt. I have a hard time seeing it as abuse I guess because so many of my friends were spanked too. Not that I advocate this particular form of discipline. I don't think it did me any permanent harm and I did learn my lesson the times I actually was guilty of something. I certainly learned to be impeccably well behaved at least in public which could explain my anal attitude about other's social demeanor! At any rate, I think I know a child or 2 who could have benefitted from a smack on the hiney now and then.

My mom did on a very rare occasion like if one of us ran into the street. My dad never did but then he was 6'4" and solid so he'd just give us a look and that was enough. My mom sent us to our rooms alot and occasionally resorted to washing our mouths out with soap.

Yes, very rarely by my Dad, in fact I can only recall one time where I got spanked by him. All he had to do was look at me cross eyed and I would be bawling.

My husband was never hit by his Dad, was by his Mom..he was very close to his mom and is close to his Dad.
