Were you named after anyone?

My mom was trying to decide between Deanna (??) and Christine. I think my birthday shortly after Christmas decided it for her. So I guess I was named after Jesus Christ! :-)

My parents just liked my first name... and actually, the way I hear it, they both had ideas for my first name but couldn't agree so they nixed them both and my name is the compromise.)

My middle name is in honor of my dad's aunt. It is not her exact name though.

My parents wanted me known by my middle name, which is the paternal Grandmother's maiden name.
No idea where my first name came from. My parents felt my name "flowed" better with the name they wanted me known as as my middle name.
But it does come in handy when people call, because if they ask for me by my first name, I know they don't know me.

No, only the boys in my family had family names. My mom wanted to name me something different, a name she loved, but my dad and older siblings didn’t care for it. I’m told my paternal grandfather suggested my name and that’s what they chose. In retrospect, I would’ve preferred my mom’s first choice. I don’t dislike my name, but it was super common in my generation (there was often another one in my class), while the name I didn’t get is far more distinctive and pretty as well.

I was supposed to be named after both Grandmas. Then I came along — I’m adopted and my mom said I just didn’t look like the name they had picked out. So they changed a vowel on the end of her mom’s middle name, and that’s mine. Other grandma got shafted 🤣
