we were @ the world May 14-21st, so we had about 4 days or sunshine and then 4 days of rain haha....but I found this on youtube and was kind of thankful that is wasn't that bad. I couldn't stop laughing! :lmao: But at the same time I felt bad for those who were there, but it looks as though they were in good spirits and having fun.

LOL..I was there the 26th-30th...and we had a couple afternoons like that.. The downpours were crazy!!

Sometimes I don't miss Florida weather. The worst place I have found for rainstorms is the Polynesian parking lot. We had a roommate who worked at Kona Cafe. We went to have dinner one night to visit her at work and it was raining like that. My flipflops literally started floating away!

However, if you are willing to brave the rain, the lines go down considerably when it gets that bad!

Years ago we were in a 15-30 minute downpour. There was an area between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland that flooded like that. Fun stuff.

We were also there during a Tropical Storm. Yes, IN the Magic Kingdom during a tropical storm. Loved it. No one there. Stomping in the puddles with water sandals wearing a poncho. Just had to laugh about it. :goodvibes That was also a week of rain.

As far as the MK go there is not alot of drainage as far as park walkways goes. And if any of the drains gets clogged with trash it makes it worse. I remember one time I was in Tomorrowland with a fellow CP friend and it started to pour while we were on Space Mountain. Came out and it was flooded. The water was up to our knees. But we bought ponchos, rolled up our jeans and had a grand ole time.

Great thing about rain like that...lines diminish.

Yep! We had one day that Hoedown (a show in MK) was rained out so they let us off early. Several friends and I grabbed ponchos and went to ride Big Thunder. It was raining pretty hard so there was no line. It also made hte ride feel very out of control- it's the most fun I've ever had on Big Thunder Mountain!

Oh, I remember being in Epcot during a prolonged torrential rain! :faint: There was a spot somewhere between England and Canada that flooded like that, and there was no way around it, had to wade through! The water was a few inches above the ankles. Sadly I was in sneakers and they never dried out for the rest of that trip!

We were there from May 12-22, 2009--we had five days of each--the rain was torrential for three full days. We have been through tropical storms on a couple of other occasions, too. This was tantamount to what we experienced those times. During one tropical storm (Alberto), it only rained for a couple of days. Now, Jerry was around six days of rain and cold weather--that was during August. I really did get tired of being told that it "never" rains like that in May--yeah, figures--the one year we vacation in May versus our usual June visit. :headache:

As to staying in the parks and the queues decreasing--it's a tough sell since the rain is coming down so hard it is difficult to see or move from place to place and we are very seasoned Disney vets. You simply have to hole up somewhere until it lightens somewhat. :scared1:

We had a great vacation despite the rain, but I have to admit, I really missed our down time around the pool in the afternoon! It was also a drag needing coats, sweaters, etc! :(

One of the concierge staff members gave us a great tip for drying sneakers. Wad up newspaper and stuff the shoes full at the end of the day--the next morning they are dry. I was shocked that it worked like a charm. It didn't leave any nasty newsprint inside either. That said, my Nikes are in pretty rough shape and not very comfortable now after trudging through days and days of rain.
