We're touring Disney like a 3 year old (2TRs in 1!)- UPDATE 5/18 pg. 46

Hiya Ann! Just getting caught up.

I have to say, I never tire of seeing pics of your DD with the characters, it is so fun to see how excited and happy she is! :goodvibes

Sounds like you are having a wonderful day at AK so far, what a treat to see the lion up and roaming around!

Wow, I'm impressed. You just got back, like a minute ago, and are already catching up on your Dis reading?

I'm glad you haven't gotten tired of it yet, because there are tons more to come of her with characters. And I don't know if you ended up visiting the blog or not, but I plan on posting that little video too if I can figure out how.

I was so shocked to see the lion awake and moving! I can usually just barely make him out on his mountaintop.

We spent quite a bit of time over at the Animal Kingdom this morning, but didn’t get much done in the way of rides and attractions. It was all about the characters once again, a common theme for our Disney vacations it seems. We were definitely getting the most out of our photopass cd, which I had preordered. Which, if anyone else here has ordered it lately, have you noticed some new photos added in? Something like this……

ry%3D400

It was so weird to find photos of the various characters interspersed with our photos when you are going through your PP pics. I totally can’t recall where we were headed at this point in the day, but we definitely got sidetracked. We came across this friendly doggie.

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

We said good-bye to Pluto and continued on our way. Our little one made herself comfy in the stroller with her little friends.

ry%3D400

The sun was finally starting to make an appearance this morning. While the weather was definitely an improvement over the blizzards that were raging up north, it still wasn’t as warm as we had hoped. I think it may have ranged from the 50-60s during the day, warmer if the sun came out.

ry%3D400

We were told to roar like Simba, and apparently I was the only one to actually roar.

ry%3D400

We didn’t get far before we came across some new friends. It’s like she has a sixth sense about these things. Last year, she could spot any playground on the horizon (they were everywhere with Flower and Garden Festival) and this year, it was characters. We caught sight of these characters……

ry%3D400

and there was barely a line. Of course the autograph book came out and our little one took off.

ry%3D400

First up was Pooh bear.

ry%3D400

Do you think she could get any closer? I love her facial expressions.

ry%3D400

She is always in her element with the characters. Disney is her happy place. :cloud9:

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

Then we bounced over to say hi to Tigger.

ry%3D400

And the hugs continued.

ry%3D400

And the other trend that we noticed…..

ry%3D400

that our little one’s hands would end up in slightly inappropriate places on the characters. Just because she is so little, they would sometimes end up in “funny” positions. We definitely got a kick out of that, because we are immature like that. :rotfl: We didn’t get a chance to meet Eeyore that morning, I think he had to go get his tail reattached, so we headed back out into the park.

By this point, it was nice and warm out so my husband was no longer interested in the parks. He never feels like he is truly on vacation until he is in a pool. Of course, mention a pool and swimming to our little girl, and she is on board with the new plan. So we headed out of AK earlier than planned and back to the resort.

I didn’t feel like swimming but it sure didn’t take the rest of my family long to get ready. I need it to be a bit warmer still before I am willing to get in my bathing suit and a pool.

ry%3D400

I don’t know why exactly, but I love that picture. Maybe it has to do with how I can still tell that my little girl is excited with the little swimming tube around her. Or maybe it just immediately brings back the memory of her jumping around in anticipation of the pool. Either way, I love it.

Seriously, can you even handle this pose?

ry%3D400

Our room happened to be pretty close to the quiet pool, but we wanted to check out the main pool. We weren’t sure what the weather would be like the rest of our vacation, so we wanted to take advantage of it.

ry%3D400

She totally needed to have goggles as well since her daddy had goggles.

ry%3D400

She was happy to spend the next hour paddling around the pool.

ry%3D400

While my husband and little girl swam around, I figured I would go refill our mug before we had to go back to the room to get ready for dinner. POR really is a beautiful resort.

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

We really enjoyed our stay there, but we also had a rental car. The resort is very spread out and I am not sure I would have liked it quite so much if we had to rely only on Disney transportation. But with the rental car, it was a perfect fit this trip.

Up next: Dining with princesses

Your little one should be a model. She's such a cutie and those poses are adorable :cutie:

I'm glad you enjoyed POR. It's so pretty there but I agree that you really need a car when you stay there. It is very spread out and we've had bad experiences with the buses there.

Can't wait to see pictures from your princess meal popcorn::

Aw, thanks! When she is happy and up for it, she can definitely strike a pose for the camera. I don't know where she comes up with some of them.

We never actually tried out any of the Disney transportation, other than the ferry boat to DTD, but just driving to our room you could see how spread out the bus stations were. I can imagine that the rides may be a bit time consuming.

I think we may have gotten more video footage than photos at the dinner, but I'll see what I can scrounge up for you. ;)

My DH would skip the parks completely and just hang out at the pool all day, so he'd be all over your DHs plans! :thumbsup2

That pic has just made me giggle, it is funny the things little ones do :lmao:
I'm about to preorder the photopass cd for our trip, certainly looks like you guys got lots of lovely photos from it :)

Aww this pic is so cute! You can see the excitement written all over her face :cutie:

This made me LOL at work. Thank goodness no one was around to hear me.

We felt the same way about CBR. We had a car so we didn't mind much how large the resort really was. We definitely would have felt differently if we didn't have my dad to drive us around!

So would mine! Actually he would probably just spend the day at the pool, then head over to the parks/resorts for dinner. I told him that I would try to be less of a park enthusiast next time, if our little one doesn't push for it too. :rolleyes1 I really am like a little kid once my feet hit Orlando turf.

At least we weren't the only ones that found it amusing. Sometimes the characters could tell the positioning of her hand was a bit "off" and try to help her readjust, but other times.....you'll see. And she is just happily clueless and unaware of it all. Ah, the innocence of childhood.

We definitely got good use of the PP cd. :thumbsup2

I know, right! Her expressions are just priceless! She is so excited when she gets in line for a character.

I'm glad we could provide you with some humor. There will be some more scattered throughout the trip. ;)

Exactly! While we loved the resort, we were lucky we had a car. Otherwise, I don't know if I would have liked waiting around as the bus made all the stops around the resort.

I have some of those bonUs pics in my photopass too. I didn't get them on our last trip two years ago. They seem to be tied to whatever photopass locations we took advantage of and only those places.

That crotch grab is hilarious!

Yeah, we kept seeing the bonus pics pop up randomly when we would review the pics. I ended up keeping some of them and getting rid of some.

Yes, sometimes the characters were aware of her inappropriate hand placements, and sometimes they didn't notice. The past two years, she always ends up hugging the taller characters in that general vicinity if they didn't kneel down to her level. :lmao:

Once my husband and little girl had gotten their fill of the pool, we headed back to our room to get ready for dinner. But first, one last pose for y’all.

ry%3D400

We then came across this:

ry%3D400

If someone could enlighten me as to what that is supposed to be, that would be great. I have to admit that we definitely were not as lucky with towel creations as we were last year at Pop. We got spoiled there – we had a fantastic creation every day. Here, not so much, but that’s okay. My husband and daughter got all cleaned up and showered and soon we were off. I think our little one caught a little cat nap in the car as well, a trend once again this trip.

Soon we were at the front of the park and heading in.

ry%3D400

So, seeing as how the title of this post is about a meal with princesses and you can see that we have arrived at Epcot, can you tell where we had dinner reservations? Another hint is on my daughter’s tee shirt. You can see that baby Simba made the trip over with us to visit this park as well.

We started our walk towards the World Showcase, but you know that we had to make a stop or two. I was itching to go on Spaceship Earth, but we really didn’t have time for any rides. Bummer – I’d have to wait for later on in the trip. We did however, stop to say hi to a new friend. I will let this little story introduce him to you all.

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

It’s Duffy, the Disney bear!

ry%3D400

Yup, we saw Duffy out greeting guests in his little gazebo, and with hardly any wait, too. She is always ready for her little autograph book.

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

The nautical border is just so cute!

ry%3D400

Always watching them write their names.

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

I love how looking at this Duffy bear makes me want to go on a sailboat.

ry%3D400

I love this park!

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

You can see that my husband caught me trying to document Duffy’s story

ry%3D400

and so I was embarrassed that he caught me on film.

ry%3D400

My husband loves these balls, and I am sure if we weren’t flying, we would have come home with one. I think he is most fascinated by the humongoid ball that is usually on display nearby.

ry%3D400

We saw a monorail go whizzing by on our way to Norway.

ry%3D400

Soon we were at the Royal Banquet Hall.

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

If I had any question on where to check in, the flock of girls dressed up as princesses sure answered my questions. There were some gorgeous home-made costumes too. I have to admit I was a little jealous. All we had was a cute little Belle tee shirt and skirt. Oh well, there were other moments on the trip that more than made up for that for me.

Soon, we were being escorted in to be greeted by Belle in her fancy yellow gown. Excuse the dust marks on the camera screen.

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

I love that the photo is included in this meal package and that it gets added to your PP card/cd. I wish all the character meals did that.

continued

A glimpse at the inside of the castle.

ry%3D400

I have to admit that I was a bit apprehensive about this meal. While my husband and I are usually pretty open minded about most foods, we typically don’t stop in Norway to eat and we were nervous that we may not enjoy the meal. Or at least I was, I think he already knew what he was going to eat. But actually, it was pretty good, and the server was so nice. However, and I feel bad about this, but both my husband and I had a bit of trouble understanding our waiter with his accent. I am usually pretty good with accents, and my husband is awful, but we were both confused a bit in the beginning of the meal. I felt awful because he gave us a nice little welcome and I think asked for our drink order and we were both quiet for a bit before I made the leap and ordered a drink. He was so nice though, and after that I seemed to have less trouble.

Anyways, before we really got a chance to eat, the princess parade started up. And you know our little girl would never pass up on the opportunity to be in a parade!

ry%3D400

Who’s a happy girl?

ry%3D400

Then it was time to eat and meet some pretty princesses. First up, Aurora.

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

Our little one loved looking for who was coming next and she would get so excited when a new princess walked in the room. We were a bit in the back, so it would take a few stops before they got to us, so that gave us some time to eat.

Next up, Cinderella!

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

In the back corner of that photo, you can see a little boy also dressed up – I think maybe as the Prince in Snow White. His sister was dressed up as Snow White and both of them had AMAZING outfits. I couldn’t wait to see the reaction when Snow White got to their table.

Speaking of Snow White, that’s who stopped by next.

ry%3D400

She was so sweet!

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

She was so happy about the kiss mark until she saw Ariel walk in the room. Then she had me wipe it off because she didn’t want Ariel to see it on her face. She needed to be presentable I guess.

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

All of the princesses were very nice, but I did feel as though the interactions were a bit short here. I don’t think it was that way for everyone, because I know they spent a lot of time with the ones who were dressed as their miniatures, which I totally understand. Maybe it was because our daughter is so young too, that they kind of breezed in and out. Still a fun time, though.

One food pic from the meal – dessert. Which I have no recollection of, but I think my husband enjoyed it.

ry%3D400

When we got outside, this is what we saw.

ry%3D400

Wait, what? When did it get dark outside? Yup, the meal did take up a bit of time. She was a bit bummed that she didn’t get to meet Jasmine at dinner, so we decided to walk over to Morocco and see if she was out and about.

As you can see, it also got a bit more crowded at night. I am sure it has a bit to do with all the adult beverages that can be consumed here…..

ry%3D400

I love the Italy pavilion.

ry%3D400

Who do you think lives up there?

ry%3D400

Pretty ball.

ry%3D400

We were in luck! Aladdin and Jasmine were outside – with a super long line. But what are you going to do when your little girl just jumps right in? Wait in line, that’s what. I think I may have grabbed a baklava from the nearby stand to eat in line while we waited.

So, we waited for about 20 minutes, get close to the front, and what does our little one do? Freak out. :sad2: And not in a good way. She all of a sudden decided that she didn’t want to meet them. And I was not having that. All I have heard in the car rides for the past few months was how she wanted to meet Aladdin and Jasmine. And here we were, right in front of them. So I was not letting her out quite so easy. And before you go thinking I was mean, I pretty much knew what the issue was – Aladdin. She was scared of him. So I asked the castmember if we could meet with Jasmine alone and they were fine with that. Aladdin was a good sport and walked a few feet away, and our little girl ran straight for Jasmine.

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

Both Aladdin and Jasmine were really great about it. Jasmine even kept scolding Aladdin if he tried to inch in on them. She also passed the book off to Aladdin to sign after she asked our little one if it was okay. So it all ended up okay. And our little girl even hi-fived Aladdin on our way out. She just didn’t want to hug him. I guess it’s good that she won’t go up to all strange men, right?

So after we finally met Jasmine, what do you think we ended up doing? Do you think our little girl was getting tired and we headed back to the hotel? Do you think we hit up a few attractions? Or do you think there were more characters in our future for that night?

I think your DD looks adorable, even without the fancy homemade outfits :goodvibes I know I'll have to wish for a grandaughter to someday be able to enjoy the princess meals, so I'm glad I have you to live vicariously through! :thumbsup2

Too funny that she didn't want to meet Aladdin! Well, he is a street rat, she must just be a good judge of character

Wait. Hold up. Have I not bee on this thread yet? Did I not comment yet? I was sure that I had (I recognize the first few updates), so I was searching for the page on my User CP, but in a search, I got your old TR instead of this one! WHERE HAVE I BEEN?!? Oh, crafting ... haha.

How cute that your DD squeezed her legs around you while under the umbrella! I saw it last time, but I didn't get a chance to try it because there were so many people around. We were going to go back at night, but we forgot.

I love the interaction with big Annie and little Annie! I like that there are so many pictures so we can pretend we were all there watching!

EW EW EW to that kid who rummaged in the garbage! EW EW EW! I mean, I get so scared of all those stories where people get sick in Disney probably because of like, ride bars and all that. But that is just NASTY! BLECH.

I'm glad you still had DD meet Aladdin (from afar!) and Jasmine! Why does she not like Aladdin? Would that happen with all the princes?

I love the Duffy area! He is so cute I had to have my own

Your little one looks like she had so much fun with the princesses! The smile on her face in the parade picture is adorable :)

Your night shots came out really well! :thumbsup2

That was such a sweet update. I love your "little one's" outfit. I think its every bit as cute as a costume and it looks a heck of a lot more comfortable. She looks so happy with all the princesses. Wonderful pictures!

Too, too funny about Aladdin!!!! :rotfl: And, yes, it is good that she won't give up a hug to a strange man!

I'm not sure what your towel art is supposed to be, but it reminds me of the Hamburger Helper commercial:rotfl2:

how sweet of Jasmine and Aladdin to appease your DD.

I love your dd's poses! She's such a cutie!

I thought the interaction was pretty quick at Akershus too. Thanks for mentioning the photos going on your PP. I have to figure out to add mine.

I just found your TR. I'm a little late, but I'm here!

I'm from the Northeast, too, and this winter was so cold and snowy. Glad you got to get away from it for a little bit! I actually remember this period of time. I had a friend in Virginia, who said the weather was warm there. Meanwhile, it was freezing and snowy by me!

I can't believe you had to rent a car and drive to a different airport. You are a great problem solver! :thumbsup2

Your daughter is so adorable. She looks so happy and excited in every picture.:) I especially loved the Big Annie/Little Annie interaction! What a great memory!

Looking forward to reading the rest!
