I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, but I'm so excited that I have to post somewhere!

My kids--DS (6) and DD (4) and I have been saving all of our $5 bills, garage sale profits, craigslist sales, rebates, etc in a container we decorated with Disney stickers. Anyway, the bank broke--there was no more room to put anything in it and the top broke. I figured that was a good excuse to take the money into the bank for some larger bills. I took it in earlier today. We had $3245!!!!

DH has shown no excitement to the news. He has never been to Disney despite living in Florida for about 5 years. My kids have never been.

I wanted to share our joy and excitement!

We're hoping to go November of 2014 so we'll keep saving.

Congrats! That is quite the accomplishment from "spare change" savings!

That's awesome. Congrats. Great way to save for a big trip.

We do the same for the kids. They have a jar that counts and keeps a running total on all coins that they put in. It's fun and they are always on the look out for loose change. Lol. I bring home a roll quarters and dimes every week an they like to rip them open and put in. Fun way to save for spending money.

That's GREAT!!!! The only thing better than a trip to Disney is a paid-for-before-you-go trip to Disney. :thumbsup2

that is very inspiring!! I haven't done yard sales in a while due to me not having patience & people wanting everything for .25 cent, lol but I should get back into selling on Ebay!

I'm not sure how great I did on the yard sales---with very rare exceptions, everything was $1 at my sale (including gymboree!), people still argued. I mostly looked at it as a way to clean out my house and make some extra money at the same time.

Thank you everyone for sharing in my excitement too. I knew the disboards would be the place to celebrate.:yay:

OP that is awesome!!! I will try to use your idea and save $5 bills.

I hope one day your DH will join you in Disney excitement :flower3:

Good for you. Hopefully your husband will come around and get excited. For some reason DH was not into Disney for years, then all of a sudden it is all he talks about.

Great job, OP! I'm sure your husband will be more excited when he realizes that the post-vacation credit card bills won't be haunting you following this trip!

Congrats, OP! What a fabulous accomplishment.

What is the overall target total that you want to achieve before your November 2014 departure date?

I brought DH to Disney the first time 'kicking and screaming'! Once we were a few hours into it, he was having as much fun as the kids! Hang in there!

And, GREAT job saving!:cool1:

Just wanted to add my congratulations!! That is really great! Your kids will love Disney and I hope your dh comes around soon.

Just think, if you manage to get a Target pharmacy coupon and have the Red Card, you can turn that $3200 into over $3400! That would be like a free night or two at a resort, depending on where you stay. (Always nice to find a way to get more ban for your buck)
Great job saving, that is a great idea to save $5s. We may have to start that.

That's amazing. Great job! I wouldn't be able to wait another year though. You might have enough for two trips by then!!
