So yesterday we decided to take our DVC membership off the market-- we were going to sell it to reduce our monthly bills and then buy again when our kids are a bit older and we can realy enjoy it.
Well, after thinking about it for a few months, we've decided to keep it! We only paid $83/point and that deal will probably NEVER come around again. And I just don't think that we'll ever be able to justify the expense later on. So even if we have to "gift" our points for the next few years, we're keeping it to ensure that we get down to the World later on.
You know what did it for us? Really looking closely at rack rates on hotel rooms. It gets very spendy when you start looking at deluxe resorts. And even though we own at my least favorite resort (woops) I think it's the right decision to keep it.

If things get tight, you can always rent them if you need to.
I felt much better keeping the one because i can still go back to Disney at times or rent it out if i have to and points rates keep going up...
