Deb

Did you get a special rate in May for RPR - $139 per night sounds great. Went last October and got the Entertainment rate but haven't seen any decent rates this year - would like to book again this October - any tips?

sounds like a wonderful trip..
i'm totally jealous you made it to festival bay...
my crew was very anti-shopping, so we barely did any....i had planned on our making it to festival bay but they refused to do any more shopping after buying shoes at the florida mall (which is a hideous mall in my opinion)...

i was really looking forwards to festival bay.....
if bass pro world is anything like the one in suburban Detroit, we would have spent time there too..
the one in detroit has a fishing area that's absolutely huge including a river with live fish in it..
and there's a gun and ammo area that has enough ammunition to take out half of europe (i'm not sure if that's true in the florida store, i assume it depends on the gun laws in each state - or the lack thereof, as in michigan, where hunters rule).....
in one corner of the detroit store there's a reallly fun shooting area, that's very similar to what the contemporary resort used to have (and i still think exists in frontierland, although we didn't do it this year)...did they have one in the festival bay store?

The Festival Bay 'Outdoor World' shop (with Bass Pro) had a huge fish tank - more of an aquarium, although not quite as big as the Living Seas, but BIG! ;) - and there are advertised feeding times as well as intsructive talks given by the staff. The instructor stands at the top of the tank and shows how to cast different baits into the water and expalins what type of bait/lure will attract the different fish species.

As well as the fishing department, there is a hunting area (didn't really look at anything here, but I'm pretty sure there wasn't a shooting range), a camping department, a boat section (I mean, they display and sell the boats, not just boating bits!) as well as a large selection of 'activity' clothing and generally useful things :).

I'm just thankful there isn't anything like that where we live, or I'd see even less of DH than I do now, and I don't think the credit card would survive!

they have boats in the detroit store too....big boats...it's just amazing....
we're not even really into any of those sports, but the store is just so unbelievable we always go in and look around for a while...
