Hi everyone! We just returned last night and I am in a deep depression! We had a great time and the only way I could leave the ship was knowing that we would be on the Magic for 14 days! We hadn't planned on going back to WDW because of the 14 day cruise but I think I am going to have to plan one before next May.....I don't think I can go that long without my Disney fix!
I'll hit the high spots for now....
~Going with a newbie was great fun! Seeing it all through fresh eyes!
~It was hot but was not unbearable until Fri. and Sat. 06-11/06-12 and then it got to us alittle. It was nice and sunny every day until about 4pm and then the rain would come. We went to the parks every day until about 3pm and then went back to OKW to watch the rain from our deck. It worked out great doing it this way...very relaxing and kept me out of my 'park comando mode'. We came home to 50 degrees....that was a shock especially since it is the middle of June! Got to love Colorado weather....
~It was crowded, much more crowded than I remember it being on a previous June trip....but we did E-ticket one night so we were able to do all that we wanted in MK without waiting in line....my only disappointment was the BTMR was broke down so we did not get to ride it this trip.
~We took the Keys to the Kingdom tour and enjoyed that very much. I had always wanted to do this but the age requirement is 16 and my daughter is just now 15 and she did not go on this trip. I want to take her when she is old enough. So now I know some 'secrets' but was sworn to secrecy at the end!
~We rode with Hulk Hogan on Rock'nRC. He was a couple of seats in front of ours.
~The cruise was great! We were the second in line after the special needs, WISH and concerige passengers. We had great weather. Sunny and hot. It was almost too calm of seas! I like a little more rocking and rolling to put me to sleep but it was great! You've all heard about free sodas already I see. I didn't know about this until we were on board and I was looking for the table with the unlimited beverage card sign up and was told that all beverages were included now. It was a nice treat but you know what? I drank mostly water! I had a diet Coke once and Iced Tea once....just water and of course adult beverages.
~They "PreEared" Around the World in 80 Days. That was a nice surprise! I enjoyed the movie and I am not much of a Jackie Chan fan.
~We went to CC! What a wonderful place! I had cruised about 5 years ago on the Magic and we were unable to dock at CC because of a hurricane. We had a wonderful day there. We were among the first off the ship and we had Serinity Bay to ourselves for about 30 min. It was so peaceful! My DBF had a little trouble getting in his hammock, however! Then he decided to try and get into the hammock with me later in the day and he knocked both of us out that time! We have a couple of bruises to show for that one! His being the worst since he broke my fall and he has a huge, ugly bruise on his hip.
~We did run into a couple of groups of 'wild' teenagers! One big group of about 40, eighth graders with only 6 adults with them were on our dining rotation and seated at tables all around us. Needless to say...dinners were quite interesitng and noisy! Watched as they threw things at each other and build 'snowmen' out of the dinner rolls. We were very happy to be able to eat at Palo's our last night! Don't get me wrong I have nothing against that age group my daughter just went through it and I have seen how they act in a group but this group made us rush through dinner just to have a little peace and quiet! Our table mates a very nice family of 5 from CA were going to order room service the last night when we went to Palo to avoid them. We rarely saw them other then at dinner so it was not a huge problem...just made dinner not quite as enjoyable as it could have been.
~We went on the walking tour of the ship and the CM that was giving the tour knew all about DIS Boards and she reads it regularly and she does take our comments to the planning meetings. She told me she had just logged on earlier because they were thinking of changing some of the music at on of the pool events...can't remember if it was for the Sail-Away party or for the Tropical Deck party and she found that there were certain songs that the just can't changed based on what she found out here.
~Every CM that we mentioned the 14 day repo cruise were trying to get transferred to the Magic for the 12 weeks! They were all very excited about it even if they had no chance of being transferred.
Well, that's it for now. I'll add things as I remember them...we are on sensory overload right now and I can't think of everything that we did or saw right now. If you have any questions please ask. Now that this trip is over I can concentrate on the 14 day! Yea! Makes coming home easier when you have another trip in the works! Still think I will need a WDW fix before then though.
I have been to WDW many times and on the DCL once before but this trip was just about perfect and I owe a lot of it to all of you for your great tips and advice!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Vicki
