Hi Everyone, I am going to attempt to do a daily report from DLR.

Who we are: Myself, Jean, DD (13), Nephew Chris, His wife, Claudia, their kids, Great Nephew (10), Great Niece (4). I am a paraplegic and use a manuel wheelchair full time. We have all been here before.

Getting Here: Chris and family drove from AZ. DD and I flew SW Airlines into LAX. We arrived at 1 PM. We went to Super Shuttle (never again). We had reservations for an accessible van. The van came with in 10 minutes of us arriving at the waiting area. We boarded the a van with a lift and a sign Disneyland Express. Not to be confused with Disney's Express but meaning it was going straight to DL. Well a gentleman joined us after convincing the dispatch guy that his apartment was on the way to DL. Then we proceeded to circle LAX twice in bumper to bumper traffic. That took over half an hour. We picked up three more people. We drover for awhile, dropped the single gentleman off and then proceed to GCH. We arrived an hour and 45 minutes after we were at the Super Shuttle stop. It was a Sunday and there was no traffic.

The hotel- Disney Grand Californian There was no line when we arrived and we were taken to the desk straight away. It took half an hour to check into our rooms which were prepaid. When we finally got to the rooms they did not have the roll in shower we needed. We called down to the front desk and it took another 40+ minutes to get new rooms. We had called more times then I can count to insure we had the rooms necessary to function. I like this hotel but the was no excuse for having us trek around to the incorrect room. (This happened in May at WDW and that trip turned out to be one of the best we have ever had at WDW. So, I took the long crazy ride with SS and the room confusion as a good sign.) The bedding was all wrong and I hope Chris' back does not go out. Mean while we settled into our new rooms and all is well.

The Park DL- Around 5:50 we headed over to the park. There was no wait to enter. We jumped on Jungle Cruise with no lines. I forgot how hooky it is but a lot of fun. Then the kids did the Tree House. I went to line up for our Fantasmic Dessert Seats. All the others regrouped and walked onto PoC. Short wait for HH and then Winnie the Pooh. Then they gave me a break from the line. They then went to get Indie FP which they got even though it was now close to 8PM. We were the first in line for tickets for Fantasmic. We had the first 6 seats in the first row of the first section. We were pretty much dead center. Great show. then we stayed for the fireworks. We saw the whole show plus Tinkerbell and Dumbo. It was a great deal, two shows for the price of one. The 4 year old fell asleep and we put her on my lap. DD and DGN headed to Splash Mt. I held DGN (4) on my lap and the three adults headed back to the room to drop the extra Fantasmic Food off and to put DGN to bed. I stayed in the room and Chris and Claudia headed back to DL to join up with the kids. Mean while back at Splash Mt. I received a text that the kids are on Splash Mt. but it is broken down. After a while, they are walked off the ride which DD said was creepy. They received one pass for 6 people for any ride except TSM. So we will use it tomorrow. I do not know how they are fairing the rest of this evening. I will let you know what they rode and what the waits were like. PS the 9:30 Fantasmic Dessert was sold out.

We are really glad with are at the DGH. It was so easy to go back and forth.

Let me know if I can answer any questions.

Sounds like the evening went better than earlier in the day! I also have requested a handicap room w/roll-in shower for our September stay. They had a difficult time finding one with 2-queen beds (according to the CM on the phone) so I'm a bit nervous.

Is this the type of room you have? If so, is it near the elevator?

Have a wonderful trip!

Thanks.
This room has a king bed and a sleep sofa. ( we wanted two queens in this room and a king in the other room. The connecting room has a queen and a bunk bed. We are not close nor terribly far from the elevator. The accessible room with out a roll in shower was way far from the elevator.

We have had a room with 2 queens and a day bed with a roll in shower which is close to the elevator. I think I have the room number for that room at home. I will look when we return Saturday.

wooo hooooo live reports!!! I do hope your going to throw in pictures to!! wide shots of the park its self in different locations ( I love to see wide shots and not spot shots :) ) please keep it coming, and by all mans do not forget to give us food porn each night!!! more more more )))))))))))))))))

Sounds like the shuttle and hotel check-in experiences should be the worst part of your trip. I'm glad you enjoyed the Fantasmic and fireworks shows. Have fun the rest of your trip!

Day 2
Well no one except the 4 yr old could get up. We made it to CA at 10, picked up fast passes for Soarin' and headed over the Minnie and Friends breakfast. We saw Pooh, Tiger, Eyore, Capt. Hook, Fairy Godmother, Minnie, Chip, Dale; I am sure I forgot someone. Then a friend from DD's school and her mom joined us. We did Buzz, then Nemo (we used the pass from Splash Mt breaking down yesterday). We did Small World and then headed back to the hotel for naps. Well, instead we spent the whole rest time moving rooms!!!! We did get Space Mt fast passes which are being used as I type.

I am really tired so the short story is the adults and the 4 yr old did the moving and the two girls plus DN did rides in CA. DN did TSM -3 times. Then we joined them around 6:15 and did Soarin then Turtle talk and some other rides but I am so tired I can not remember. The three older kids went to DL and we stayed in CA. The little one crashed and I am in the hotel with her while the others are in DL.

Sorry no food photos or wide shots.

Crowds seem heave but the ride lines are fine. We have not waited more then 10 min for anything.

Tomorrow we are attempting to do the early entry but I would not count on it.

Sorry to be so tired. More tomorrow.

Jean

PS we changed rooms because the bed was so high in the king room that I could not get in it. The queen beds in the handicap rooms are standard height. When I am home and rested I will give a more detailed description.

Have a good night

Sounds like a great trip, overall! I love hearing the details, as we will be there next week. The ride lines sound a lot better than I was anticipating. I hope it's that good for us! How's the weather?

Jean,

Glad you are having a good trip.

We just left DLH and had a similar issue with the queen beds there. I think they need steps! Plus, my DS fell out of bed and slept on the floor the rest of the time there, he didn't want to experience that again!

Sounds like a great trip so far!

What time did the line start forming to check in and select Fantasmic reserved seats? Is it still by the churro cart?

(We're going next week -- hurrah!)

...We have not waited more then 10 min for anything.

In mid-July?!?!? Wow! That's fantastic!

Sounds like you are having fun - I think people always forget just how tiring a full day at Disneyland is, not to mention several full days. Rest and enjoy when you get back out there. :wizard:

Because of my luck i always get the supershuttle that takes ppl to their homes. Its always out of the way. For me thats bad because im very impatient. My wife always waits for me to blow up. lol i catch her staring at me.lol

Sorry I did not report yesterday. I was exhausted. It was really hot.

Ok, I just ran out of time again.

We left the hotel and headed to the parks. We were there about 8:15. Walked onto almost everything in TT and Fantasyland.

More later again. I promise.
