We're here and it's crazy!!!

I personaly believe it's all about the planning! From getting fastpasses to visiting with no lines. If you plan your day right you should get fastpasses for most of your rides. We have been to disney at Thanksgiving for thelast 4 yrs and have had a blast! Crowds are of course larger than our favorite time go, october, but it is doable.

As far them giving fastpasses to resort guests only... dont think it would ever happen imo. We are a family of 6 and usually bring our DGD also. That means we would need at least 2 rooms. Even in the value resorts that is way out of our price range. I do not believe i am alone in this situation. That seems to me that disney would be rewarding people for being a family of 4.

star wars weekend here we come!!!!

We were onsite last week and most of the time, including EE, the waits were no more than 20 mins. The one exception was Soarin which topped out at 90 mins. A couple things we have learned are: do not go to the park that has EMH (All the resorts have already gotten there), If it says that the weather is going to be iffy, then go to one of the parks (last week on Friday there was a high in the 70's and a chance of rain(very cloudy)) the parks will be much emptier as many locals don't want to waste going on a bad day. Get to the big rides early in the morning grab a Fast Pass for later in the day pirate: and then ride that ride, we rode EE 4x between 9 and 10am :Pinkbounc .

Funny but we just got back last night and, while the parks were busy, I defintitely did not think the crowds were horrible. We did go fairly early in the day but did not even arrive before the parks opened and were still able to do all we wanted to do (all 4 parks in two days) with our longest wait being 30 minutes one night for Rock n Roller coaster (during EMH when there were no FPs). Now, granted,we have been lots of times before so did not WANT to ride everything this trip...just the biggies (including EE!!!)

With regards to locals... Are thier any local FL. schools off this upcoming week 4/1 - 4/8?

Orange, Osceola and Seminole County already had break. Polk County is this week, and Lake County has break the week of the 10th.

I can't say there aren't any counties that are on break last week, but these are the ones I checked in the surrounding area.

March is not the time to visit WDW and expect short lines. We made the mistake of going over Memorial Day one year...never again. Instead we visited the 3rd week in January this year...weather was sunny and 75 and at MK at 10am the wait times at SM, BTR and SM were...zero. At 2pm when we got on BTR the attendants were actually saying that it was OK to stay in the car and ride a second time...never heard of that... ever. We did BTR 4 times in a matter of 20 minutes.
Over at MGM, my "elevator" at TOT was half full.
The only FP we ever used were for Soaring and I am not so sure that it really saved us any time by using it.
Over at AK, we ran to get to KS first thing and when we got off, there was no one waiting to get on. (Everest had not opened yet)
So...yes there are slow times at WDW and they are far outshadowed by the crazy times with long lines and cranky people, but they are out there...you just have to look for them and plan accordingly.
We made the mistake of thinking that we had to be first ones in line each day at each park to make sure we hit all of the rides...that plan may work in March or July, but from now on when we visit in Jan, I am sleeping in and getting to the parks around 10am.
The only downside of visiting in Jan is that some attractions maybe down for rehab...this time it was test track...oh well..such is life.
