Well, youve come to the right place for plenty of planning information! Between this board, the theme parks board, and the restaurants board, youll find tons of great info.
Since youre on the MYW dining plan, you should be able to have some really nice meals. One of the best ways Ive found to choose restaurants is to look at the menus on
www.allearsnet.com -- that way you can see what menus appeal to you the most. Ill list some of our very favorite restaurants below:
Artist Pointthis is our hands down favorite at WDW. Its located at the Wilderness Lodge, and its got a quiet, laid back yet elegant atmosphere. The food is absolutely decicious (we loved the pork chop, scallops, and buffalo steak when we tried those entrees), and their berry cobbler for dessert is my favorite dessert anywhere. The service is exceptional as well. This is a pricy restaurant, but well worth it in our opinion.
Kona Caféthis restaurant has terrific breakfast as well as delicious desserts after dinner. The desserts are artful and tasty, and there are many to choose from. Its at the Polynesian and has a casual atmosphere.
Le Cellierthis is at Epcot in the Canada pavilion. Their cheese soup appetizer is to die for, especially with the pretzel bread they serve. Weve eaten here for both lunch and dinner and enjoyed both meals. The lunch menu is a little less fancy than the dinner menu, as well as less expensive.
Bomathis is my favorite spot for breakfast. Its a buffet style restaurant at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Yum is all I can say! There is such a huge variety of food (both traditional American fare and some more unique items from Africa) that everyone is sure to find something that they love. They also serve dinner here, and if youre an adventurous eater this is a good spot. If youre really picky I would just go for breakfast and skip dinner.
Liberty Tree Tavernthis is our favorite character dinner. Its in the Magic Kingdom in Liberty Square. When we were there last the characters were Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Chip, Dale, and Meeko. Its traditional Thanksgiving type food served family style. Warning: the rolls are addictive! My husband and I love them, but we try to save room for the actual meal.
So you can check out the menus, some other restaurants we like are Ohana, Whispering Canyon Café, 50s Prime Time Café, and Rainforest Café.
Moving on to suggestions for fun things to do, have you ever seen one of the Cirque du Soleil shows? The show at WDW is called La Nouba and its really a neat show. Tickets are pretty pricey, but its a really neat thing to do.
I am a big chicken, but I hear that parasailing (which you can do from the marina at the Contemporary) is incredible. Also, we love shopping at Downtown Disney for some time away from the parks. You can find any Disney item you ever wanted and more!
We also enjoy touring the various Disney resorts for a break. They each have such unique, fun theming. If you dont already have it, you could purchase the Field Guide to Hidden Mickeys and go on a hidden mickey hunt in the resorts and parks.
I have not stayed at Port Orleans Riverside yet (Im going in only 18 dayswahoo!), but I think youre right that it looks very romantic. I hear that they have nightly carriage rides through the property, and Ill bet thats pretty romantic. I also plan to walk over to the French Quarter side and try some beignets, LOL!
