We're having a girl! HELP with name

Maybe it's because I live in a very Italian area, but there are at least 3 Isabellas in every grade, not to mention Olivias and Avas.

I live in a mixed area and there are 3 Isabellas in my daughters class, My niece is IZabel ,my neighbor is Isabella, and my friends daughter is Isabella..it is a very popular name.Ava too.I know of 4 Olivias between daycare and Kindergarten

I think Shannon Marie is a beautiful name! I think it's a shame that some of the most lovely names are becoming less and less common. I'm not a fan of the new-fangled-type names. It seems like they are getting stranger and stranger where I live!

What a very nice thing for you to say! ;) I agree with you about some of the names these days. I work in a NICU and you would not BELIEVE what some people name their kids. I know it's a personal thing and everyone likes different names, but I've heard some REALLY crazy ones.

I know...When I worked in the south we had a Mom on our unit whose baby was in nicu. She named her kid...Ghana- Rhea i kid you not

Whatever happened to names like Karen, Tracey, Michelle, Christine, Catherine, Linda, Nanci (me) etc. I still like those names.
I have a girlfriend whose name is 'Sunday'. (named long before Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman named their daughter) I always thought that was pretty.

My oldest daughter is named 'Nicole' and she named her little sister 'Chloe'.

Congratulations and best wishes to you and your family!

We picked our dd's name the year before she was born. Heard the name on a tv show and had loved it for years. It was number 34 on the most popular girls name list for that year, so I thought that was pretty good....wouldn't be too many girls in her class with the same name. That was 1998 and the name is Olivia. :lmao: Now? Can't swing a cat without hitting an Olivia.

I never got to use the girl names I picked out for baby #2 because we got ourselves a little devil of a boy. We named him after his father but only use the initials of his first and middle name. We call him DL. People always repeat it back to us when they hear his name for the first time...."DL?"...."Yes. DL."

Anyway, the girl names I loved but DH hated were:

Evelyn---because it's just beautiful. DH thought it sounded too old.

and

Moira ---I paid attention to Peter Pan and realized that it sounded so pretty. DH said no because it's a name that needs an accent. :confused3

I'll start w/ family:

Sarah Christine
Monica Beth (that's me)
Andrea Lynn
Carmen Michelle

Jessica Lauren (my dd9)
Autumn Renae (my dd6)

Nieces:
Nadiah Alizabeth
Addison Beth
Kallyn Olvia (like Cal in boys name Calvin)
Lucy Caroline.... Lucy is really getting popular!

Names of friends little girls, I like:

Alania
Marin
Mara
Shae
Kassidy
Bella... super popular
Bria
Shelby Rose

I could go on and on..

No matter what..... CONGRATS and good luck!

My DD8 is Daisy Nicole - we rarely meet another Daisy under the age of 70, but lots of people name their dog Daisy ... For another girl we always liked Lily-Ann Dayle. Dayle is my father-in-law's name. Now that Lily is so common, I don't think I would use it. I love old names:
Penelope
Evangeline
Elspeth
Henrietta - I know, not practical
Rosalie
I used to love Abygail, but in my friend's daughter's class of 18 kids they have 3 Abbys (all spelled differently), 2 Hannahs and a Savannah

Ok- so our third little one is a girl! Yippee!!! Now I need help with a name. Our other dd is Emma and our ds is Nash. Knowing Emma is so popular, I am really steering clear of any names in the top 10 for popularity. But I am really stuck. I read thru books and there are some crazy names in there.

Thanks Dis'ers!

Wondering if you've decided???? I loved playing with names - did it for years before I was a Mom. How about Eden (biblical but modern?!:cheer2:)

We named DD Sophia Hana. This was before Sophia was so popular. Hana after the Hana Rainforest on Maui where DH and I were married.

My name is Sondra which might fit in with your other children.

My first is named Madison, so very popular like Emma. 2nd is Henry, which is popular where i live but not other places from what I gather. 3rd is now 2 months old and we named her Scarlett. We were going for a less popular name after our first like you and it was between Scarlett and Tierney. I really, really wanted Tierney since I was pregnant with my son, but my husband really didn't like it, said it wasn't pronouncable or easily spelled so we went with Scarlett. Hazel was another namd I liked (that my husband hated) but I didn't want an H since my son has an H name.

My only advice is name her what you want, not what everyone else does. I wanted to name my third DD Cecelia. My SIL's rolled their noses at it. So wanting to please everyone I named her Emma-Clayre. I get so annoyed whenever I see the name Cecelia! Then Jim and Pam name their baby Cecelia!! It haunts me, and I secretly resent my SIL's

Is Pam your SIL? She didn't like it when you considered it for your baby but then went ahead and used it for her baby?

Nuh uh!!!

Here are a few that I like. I have a Hannah, which I liked before it became so popular, and then 3 boys, so i never got to use any of these names.

I like:

Maeve
Marin
Delaney
Audrey
Jillian

Good luck!!

I've never heard the name Maeve come up in one of these discussions! Maeve is the name I would have liked to have used, and I think DH even would have agreed to it! We do have 2 daughters that are adopted. We kept the names their birthmothers gave them, so we never did use Maeve. Our girls are Marta and Marilyn, so we did get to keep the "M"!

I have read through all these post and haven't seen my girls name:) That makes me happy, I didn't want it to be too popular. My girls name is KYLIE.
I also like: JANE, MALLORY, KOURTNEY,VIOLET, ELLE, LYLA and EDIE.

Good luck. Names are so very personal and hard to pick!

Work in a school with some beautiful girls names
Lisette
Cassandra
Tabitha
Ilena
Elise
Ines
Amelia
Erin
Bethan
Leah
(Plenty that I don't like too.)

If I had got my choice with DD she would have been a Kizzy (character in a book) or Lara (from DR Zhivago).

She is happily a Natasha Anna Elisabeth and loves the fact that her generation has very few Natasha's.

Loads of Charlotte/Kathryn/Chloe/Sophie and Megans over here at the moment.

I'm any day now from delivering my 2nd DD. Our first is Abigail (Abby). I actually thought there would be tons of Abby's, but so far we have only come across one other (she is 4). This DD is going to be Ellie. I haven't heard that alot.

Congratulations!

I agree with a PP , name her what you want..I named my daughter Sophia and got tons of crap from family about how it is an old fashioned name..blah blah blah...that was OVER 6 yrs ago and now the name is popular again

Nobody in my family liked our choices for our sons, Cullen and Seth now they have all said that they couldn't imagine them named anything else. Names grow on you when they are attached to a child you love.

No one has been over enthusastic over Ariana, but tough if it suits the baby then it will work for us.

I also find it funny that names that are popular aren't so much in the UK and vice versus.
