I just got back from a meeting from my daughter's Girl Scout troop. I helped them earn some badges this year that were about govt. and citizenship, and the girls got really interested in politics. The troop leader put together a bus trip to Washington D.C. for April vacation! Now we just have to do some serious fundraising. Now, not only do I get to spend time in D.C. with my daughter, but our WDW trip gets bumped to when school gets out in June-we're going to WDW on my birthday next year!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Yay! Disney birthday trip! I always wanted to go to Disney on birthday when I was little. I hope you have a wonderful time, and do not forget to pick up your birthday button at City Hall.

My dad used to live in the DC area and I always enjoyed visiting him. I would explore the city while he was at work. One of my favorite places there was the National Postal Museum, which sounds dull, but it is really neat! They had interactive exhibits and some other neat stuff. Also, the John Bull locomotive is at the National History Museum. Trains! Yay! Enjoy your trip.

Yes, the Postal Museum is great...

Really for fund raising, just remember all the Smithsonians are FREE... thats right FREE!

Postal Musuem, Air And Space, Natural History, American History, Arlington Cemetery, White House Tours were free (not sure if they have still suspended those or not!), Washington Monument, and I think a few others are still no cost.

You do need some timed tickets (is that for the Holocaust? I've never been there), but really all you would worry about would be lodging.

Remember talk to your local congressman, they may be able to help you with maybe getting a tour... they used to do that, but not sure if they still do that.

DC is awesome! :):):) You'll love it. You need timed tickets for the Washington Monument - those are free and distributed daily. I'm not sure about the Holocaust Museum. I understand that it's pretty disturbing. I don't know how old the girls are, but you may want to give that serious consideration. I would recommend the Tourmobile. :):):)

Here's a link. :)

We are going on a package tour. We're taking a coach bus down that will also be our transportation to the various sites. The itinerary includes the Caspitol, Arlington Cemetary, Korean Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Daniel's Story at the Holocaust Museum, Smithsonian, embassy Row, and the Baltimore Zoo. The leader is hoping the girl's portion will be paid for through fundraising (about 400.00 pp).I haven't been to D.C. since I was a little girl, so this is going to be a great trip for both of us!
