We're Going to Six Flags!

Earlier this year, I won two free adult Six Flags tix in a contest. We've been waiting for the right time to go and DH has finally said we can go. We're heading out there on Aug 9 and I can't WAIT! WOOHOO! Superman Tower of Power here I come!

I noticed in the most recent commercials they keep hyping the fact that they've added 10 new rides. Unfortunatley they are all 'kiddie' rides that DH and I wouldn't even fit into.

Oh we will..most definately. We are theme park vets..esp when it comes to SFOT. When DH and I were dating, for the 2 years we dated we each had season passes courtesy of my grandmother. We haven't been since before DS was born though and I can't wait to go.

I took my granddaughter to Six Flags in Gurnee, IL last week. We had a heck of a good time, too.

I went a few years ago and hated it. The park was filthy and the employees were rude (really rude, like a Taco Bell counterperson). Plus they had some WB characters, which sounded OK. But DGD met Daffy Duck, and Daffy had holes in his costume and an exposed zipper on his back. Even little girls wouldn't be taken in by that!

But Daniel Snyder, the guy that owns the Redskins, bought the brand a couple of years ago and has put a lot of money into it. He's trying to make a Disney-style experience out of it. The park was clean this time, and everyone we dealt with was very pleasant. They've even added character meals.

They post riders-per-hour targets for each ride, and keep track as to whether they meet their goals. It really is a professionally managed park.

I'm not sure that it "works" financially. The park was full of 18-ish people, and I don't think they'd even notice if the place was dirty. Plus they probably expect to get treated rudely, because everybody else treats them that way. But I noticed anyway.

It seems like they are trying to do that here, since it is the original Six Flags theme park. Every time I've been it's been filthy and the employees have been rather questionable, but we keep going because we love the rides.
