i'm so excited! i finally re-booked our cancelled May 2009 trip. we're going this friday 9/25 thru monday 9/28 (leaving first thing in the morning on tuesday 9/29). so that gives us about 3 1/2 days in DL/DCA.

i am a bit sad that we will not be renewing our APs this year...so that's why i needed to fit in one more trip before they expire on 10/9/09!

if i read correctly, i should it expect it to be very warm...so i'm not going to pack any long pants/jeans for any of us (me, DH, DD1, and DD2). i'm also excited about seeing the new fireworks show...and i need to ride POTC before Monday, 9/28 since it's on the refurb list starting 9/28.

i'm guessing pixie's hollow is still there, right?! are the lines for pixie hollow still crazy?

anything else?! i going to make ressies for Goofy's breakfast and Ariel's lunch. and probably dinner ressies at the RFC for one night. how about carnation cafe? would you folks recommend lunch or dinner at carnation cafe?

sooooo excited! and stressed out too! LOL! only 3 1/2 days to pack!

Yay! You're very lucky! I'm going Thursday (9/24) because of the free admission on my birthday, and I'm bummed because the Holiday SM and HM's don't open until Friday 9/25! It has been HOT lately (I'm in San Diego) during the day but definitely bring a sweatshirt or light jacket once the sun goes down. There is usually a 20-25 degree difference between day and night.

Welcome to the bunch of us that will be there the same time! :) I'm glad you were able to squeeze another trip in- get the most out of that AP, huh?

It looks like it will be in the mid to low 80's- not too hot. Lows around 60 so you might need a jacket for the evenings, especially for your 2 daughters.

Yes, Pixie Hollow is still there, it's not going anywhere!

Let's hope that it's not horribly busy while we're there!

How exciting!

I understand it's going to be super hot tomorrow & Wednesday, and winding down a bit for the weekend, but it will still be warm. I'm hoping the Santa Anas will be done since the Halloween fireworks are supposed to debut.

I meant to add: Carnation Cafe is great- we always order the Meatloaf Stack, yum!
The Baked Potato Soup is very good too.

We have a PS for Sat @ 6:30 during the parade. :)

oh, that's right...the winds...the fireworks show was almost cancelled when we were there last december.

i'll definitely pack jackets/sweatshirts for all of us! coming from seattle, it'll be very WARM for all of us! =)

That is great you were able to reschedule! We will be there for a surprise trip for my daughter on 9/25 also. We are so excited! I am a little nervous about the crowds. We thought we were going on the off season but it looks like it will be busy.

How very exciting for you to be able to re-schedule your trip!!! :cool1:
Sounds like there will be alot of DISers there on the 25th. We will be there with you all! :woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay:

Just a quick FYI -- The Santa Ana's have yet to even begin. Typically they run from October through March. I have noticed the last few days have had a little bit more wind but nothing even close to Santa Ana level. Last year they didn't really start in earnest until mid October or early November. Fingers crossed we make it through the weekend with no wind.

By the way, I am new to this board and think your posts are all outstanding. I love the positivity and support you seem to all bring.

Welcome to the DIS & thanks for the info. :)

I've been hearing the news talk about how hot it's going to be and the wind picking up, so I assumed that we were going to have Sta Ana conditions. Glad to hear that that's not happening. I was really concerned for the firemen at the Station fire especially.

Woohoo! We'll be there this Sat-Thurs! Hope to see some lime green mickey heads represented???! ;)

OP, Dining plans sound great - we have PS for Carnation Cafe for breakfast, but after all my looking around at pics of food, that baked potato soup looks super fab! So glad you got to reschedule. And like others have said, the temp drops a considerable amount in the evening. Which is nice, but can be jacket weather (we're from Phoenix!). Hope you have a blast! :cool1:

I'l be there too.

hurleysweety is right. I want to see some green mickey heads. I will be wearing mine on my lanyard.

I think we might pop in on friday or saturday as well. Or sunday, sometime this weekend. We usually go on tuesdays but we're leaving for vegas tomorrow. I'm excited to see the new fireworks! :)

i'm getting so excited! i'm happy, too, that we were able to reschedule on such short notice. i originally had to cancel our may trip because my dad was (and is still) here in seattle (from hawaii) for cancer treatment. he just had surgery on 8/31 to remove the tumor and is slowly (stress "SLOWLY") recovering in a skilled nursing facility. he's probably going to be there for another 2-3 weeks. my mom kept telling me to go ahead and reschedule our trip (even thanked me for cancelling our may trip). there's not much i can do now (i was accompanying him to his chemo and radiation therapy appts and visited him everyday at the hopsital after surgery).

so now i'm busy packing and trying to create a flexible itinerary for each day. i've already put aside the girls clothes and pretty much all of my stuff. just working on DH's clothes/outifts...LOL!

ooh....baked potato soup sounds yummy! i have yet to try the monte cristo and the pomme frittas (sp?).

already booked doggy boarding but gonna try and talk my mom into staying at our house to watch the doggies and save us some $$$.

we'll be sporting our LGMHs!

btw, we're flying into LGB and renting a car. any recommendations on where to stop by for groceries (closer to anaheim since we'll be getting milk for the girls)? target? safeway/vons? looking to get bottled water, milk, breakfast foods, snacks...

TIA! :)

Take advantage of the Friday crowds before 6PM, because the weekend will likely be packed, but still fun nonetheless.

Monday should be nice, though, except a lot of private schools are closed for Yom Kippur.

I too will be there on the 25th, leaving Wednesday. Just wanted to say, you should probably pack long sleeves and legs just to be on the safe side, don't want to regret it once you're there. Even when I know the weather will be crazy hot I always pack at least one long sleeve shirt, one sweater, and I usually were pants.

The Santa Ana's have returned this morning with a vengeance. Wind at 20-30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph (almost got blown off the interstate this morning). This is what they are calling mild-moderate Santa Ana's.

Looks like they are anticipating this weather pattern through Thursday. Here's hoping the weather man gets it right and the weekend will calm down. My daughter's B-day celebration is this weekend and we are really looking forward to the fireworks.
