Day 1 January 26

We are from California so today was an all day travel day! Up at 4:30 am after a restless night of sleep. How come when you know you have to get up early you don't fall asleep until 2 minutes before you have to get up?? Arrive at the airport around 5:30, plane leaves in an hour. Drug the kids up with medicine, since they had to get sick with of all things an ear infection right before a plane ride (Doctor said it was ok to fly, we are not bad parents). Board the plane last, husband hates to board first and sit on the plane getting knocked in the head with suitcases, see the dread in the eyes of the people behind us as we take our seats because who wants to sit next to 2 little kids. We flew Continental had a short layover in Houston and arrived in Orlando at 4:45pm. The flights were uneventful, the children were amzing! So amazing that we even got compliments from passengers on how wonderful they were- this will be the only time we get compliments on our children's behavior.

We go to baggage claim. Can they be any slower with the luggage?? I'm impatient I take Connor with me to get the rental car, Brian stays with the luggage. We reserved a full size with the Emerald Club (thanks Dis boards) of course they had no full size cars so we got upgraded to a luxury car...a Buick. Now I always thought I had about 20 more years until I was driving a Buick but its an upgrade and I'll take it! Pick Brian and Ben up with the luggage, struggle with the car seats and we're off! We make a stop at Albertson's to pick up a couple of cases of water and get back on the freeway on our way to Pop Century!

Now let me warn you, I am a snob, so I was not particularly excited to be staying in a "value" resort. But I'm also a cheap snob and I like to save money..... the kiddos also like Pop the best so that's where we are staying for the majority of our trip. We pull up to Pop and Brian lets me out to go check in so the kids can stay asleep in the car. I am already turning up my nose with the big words on the buildings and the anticipation of the hour wait to check in but as quickly as I am thinking I'm going to hate it I walk into the lobby. This place rocks! My mood is immediately uplifted, their is great music playing, bright and cheery decorations and the best part....no one is in the lobby waiting to check in!!! I quickly request a fridge for my kid's medicine, 50's building and get my park tickets. I am in and out in 5 minutes time. I practically hop on pixie dust to the parking lot to find Brian....after looking for 15 minutes in a sea of silver cars, I find Brian but there is no more pixie dust in this girl! I just want to get in the room!

We park and go to the third floor. We walk in and the kids immediately look at the poster on the wall...PETER PAN! Their idol is on the wall!! They are jumping around acting like fools and we find the room to be better then expected. I think to myself how smart I am to be staying in a value resort, think of all the money we're saving. Our original plan was to go to DTD to eat but we're tired so we head to the food court. We eat, nothing memorable, but we feel better getting some food in our body. We explore a little bit and head back to our room. The fridge had been delivered and the even left some extra towels and park schedules for us. Mousekeeping was awesome the entire time! I deicide to try and make PS for Crystal Palace in the morning, got in for 8:10!! We decide to watch a Disney show and go to bed. Tomorrow our big day in the Magic Kingdom!!

I, too, am a resort snob and have only stayed at Wilderness Lodge at WDW. I'd love to hear some more detail about how you feel about the room at POP as we're considering a split-stay next time between POP and WL.

Hope your kids are feeling better!

Great trip report, can't wait to hear the rest! What were the dates that you guys were there?? Sounds like it was a good time!

Thank you for the kind replies. The kids were great during the trip, it was the end of their cold and Disney was the perfect medicine.

We were there January 26-Feb 3.

We loved Pop but we did split our stay for the last 2 nights going to AKL. I don't think we will be going back to Pop after getting a taste of the "Deluxe" life but it was a lot of fun.

I just did a POP/WL split stay in January. First time for each resort and enjoyed them both. I like doing the split stay, especially if it means I can stay more days, but still get in a little luxury....just do the value FIRST, then the deluxe ::yes::

Now on to the next installment!
