We're going to Disney? But I wanna see the Alamo

How sad am I? I haven't finished updating this report and I'm already begging my husband to go back. I have it figured out, I work 3 on 4 off and I only have to work 60 EXTRA shifts to go back!!!! Needless to say, it will be awhile. Especially after the dentist sees my kids teeth and decides they all need braces! :( Okay I promise I will update this next week.

Great report! What a sweet family -- and ok that you tube video was AWESOME! I wish I could talk my family into doing something like that but while we would start out strong, but prob wouldn't finish - hahaha (There are 7 of us!!)

So this may be short since I have to leave for work in just over 45 minutes! We left off on Tuesday afternnon with the family getting ready to watch the Indiana jones Stunt show.
P1030066.jpg

The kids thought the show was amqazing. We were all tired, but decided to head over to MK. It waqs about 2:30 and I figured it would be 3:00 by the time we gotthere. It was the night of Mickey's Very merry Christmas Party so they were going to close at 7:00. I figured we could handle 4 more hours. Plus, we REALLY needed to knock out some rides if we were going to see everything on our list!
Unfortunately, I was overly optimistic. We took a bus =from DHS to TTC. Then we decided to take the monorail from TTC to MK. I kid you not.....it took 45 minutes!!! :scared1: We would go 50 feet on the track and then they would come over the intercom saying we had to wait for another monorail ahead of us. I was glad that no one in our party had to go pee 'cause there would've been NO way! :headache: That was probably the most frustrated I got the entire time at Disney. But God was good and nothing happened while we were waiting except the kids getting antsy. ...Okay Mom got antsy. :rotfl:

The bus:
P1030071.jpg

We finally arrived and made it through security an the front gates. We headed straight for Tomorrowland. I took the kids on Tomorrowland Speedway while David got FPs fro Space Mountain. Tomorrowland Speedway is not fun when you have four kids by yourself and only 1 is actually tall enough to ride by himself. NOT fun!!

P1030076.jpg

From there we headed to the Golden Carouseld in Fantasyland.

P1030081.jpg

now we did several things in Fantasyland. After each ride Stephen watned to know if it was time for Dumbo. What is it with kids and Dumbo? :sad2: When I was 8. i made my family wait 1 1/2 hours to ride Dumbo! Anyway, we explained that was going to be the first thing we rode tomorrow!

As we got off the Carousel I got pictures of the kids trying to pull the Sword out of the Stone.

P1030078.jpg

P1030080.jpg

It was only a 5 minute wait for Mickey's Philharmagic so went in. The kids were really tired and crabby. None of them really wanted to stand in line for a movie.

When it first started, it scared them a little bit. It didn't take long for them to decide it was a pretty cool show. :woohoo: Show White's Scary Adventure had a 10 minute wait so we hopped in line. I had been warned that this ride was very dark and could be scary so I warned the kids before we went in. They did fine. In the dark scenes I tried to point out the familiar aspects and you moved quickly through the scenes.

P1030087.jpg

This was as close as i got to Dopey the whole trip :(

P1030091.jpg

Its a Small World was next on our list much to David's chagrin. The ride didn't take long and the kids weren't impressed. :scared:

P1030093.jpg

P1030122.jpg

From there it was Haunted Mansion where there was no wait. This ride was really creepy. If I had it to do over again I probably wouln't have let the 4 yr. old ride. It worked out fine though. Cmaeron and Stephen rode with Dad while Lauren and Jonathan rode with mom. we made a game out of finding the things the "ghost" was moving. I did find the graveyard scene creepy.

P1030139.jpg

Our last stop before Space Mountain was Hall of President's. Everyone thought it was boring, but since I'm a history major, this was one of those thing s that was mom's turn to do! A couple of them even fell asleep. I took a TON of pictures during the show.

P1030150.jpg

P1030178.jpg

P1030185.jpg

Now we had to hustle. We only had about 40 minutes before the park closed to non party goers. We raced back to Space Mountain. Lauren and Dad rode first. While they were on the ride Cameron decided he wanted to ride. Luckily Dad had gone ahead and gotten FPS for everyone. With 10 minutes to spare Dad and Lauren got off and we swapped Stephen through. There was no wait since we had FPS. Everyone else was waiting at least 40 minutes. Let me just say,I rode Space Mountain as a kid and I loved it. It was probably my favorite ride. Space Mountain at 8 and Space MTn. at 33 is NOT the same thing! i really felt all the little jerks and jolts along the way. Jonathan and Cameron LOVED it. It was one of the highlights of the day for the 3 older kids.

(Note: I've used up my quota for smileys and pictures for this post and I'm determined to get through this BEFORE I have to leave for work!)

We made a pit stop at the restrooms before exiting Tomorrowland and the park. The MVMCP police were out in force to make sure all non partygoers made it out of the park. The crowd level was absolutely insane. Thongs of people trying to get in, thongs trying to get out. We followed this one man pushing his dad in a wheelchair. We were making it until the guy didn't see the curb at the square at Main Street and pitched his Dadout face first onto the concrete. (I REALLY need the use of the smiley's here!) Thankfully, he was okay.

We finally made it out of the thogs and to our bus which wasn't crowded at all. We got settled into our room about 8 pm. The kids took their baths and then watched Happy Feet while eating luncheables from Garden Grocer. We got everything organized for the next day and by the time Happy Feet was over everyone was sleeping.

Wednesday Dec. 2
The day started out with an oops!:scared1: We missed our alarm and overslept by 15 minutes. Now this wouldn'tbe a big deal if we didn't have 4 kids AND our big goal was to make rope drop EVERY morning! so out of the bed we jumped. Even after a shower, I was beginning to feel the long days at an Amusement park.
The kids were great tourists. They got up and at 'em. We made rope drop at Magic Kingdom. In fact, we were at the rope! Since we were so far up we missed the opening ceremonies. (Yet another reason to go back, right?) We met a very nice lady from Florida while waiting at the rope and when it dropped she helped me herd all 4 kids down main street through the castle and straight on to Dumbo! :yay: We made the second flight pattern.
Here are some pictures I took as we scurried through the castle:
P1030198.jpg

Here's one looking at the back of the castle while riding Dumbo:
P1030207.jpg

When we got off they had a Dumbo off to the side for photo ops. I, of course, took advantage. (and then didn't realize until I got home and was looking at the pictures that I took them from the wrong angle!) Anyway, here is Cameron on Dumbo:
P1030209.jpg

David had ridden the train over to Frontierland to get us FPs for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. He was going to meet us in Toontown. After Dumbo we went to Peter Pan's flight. As we were exiting, I saw David walking right in front of the attraction! Talk about good timing. :cheer2: I got his attention and we all went to Winnie the Pooh.

It was now 9:30. Rope Drop for Toontown was at 10:00. There was a crowd, but it wasn't huge so we opted to wait in a short line for Scrooge McDuck.

P1030218.jpg

Oh, and on our way to Toontown we saw the Wicked Stepmother, and the Evil Stepsisters from Cinderella. I knew they couldn't stop for pictures so I just walked right alongside them and snapped away. I was amazed at how they kept in character all along the way!

P1030214.jpg

P1030215.jpg

The Toontown Rope dropped and everyone headed to the Hall where all the characters were. however, right in front of us at the end of the road was Mickey Mouse in front of his house! ANother family with two smaller kids got there firstand got a personal tour of the house with Mickey. I'm sure that made a wonderful memory for them. We had a short wait and then it was our turn. We made our way through the house and backyard.

P1030225.jpg

P1030228.jpg

P1030231.jpg

Inside was the big cheese himself...and Minnie Mouse! A two for one! What a magical surprise.:littleangel:

P1030232.jpg

sorry folks..I wanted to get more done tonight, but I'm give out. Spent the day at HR for my new job and tomorrow will be spent grocery shopping and picking up MORE paperwork for HR. So for tonight...That's All Folks. (Oh, wait, wrong franchise! :thumbsup2 )

We left Mickey's house and got on the Railroad headed for Frontierland.
Heeeere's Johnny... (Well, Jonathan really)

P1030236.jpg

It was time for another FP. The wait for Splash Mountain was 5 minutes so instead of gettng a FP for that I sent David to get them for Jungle cruise. While we waited we took a couple of pictures.

P1030241.jpg

P1030244.jpg

P1030253.jpg

P1030254.jpg

With ponchos donned (and sans socks ;)) we walked right on to Splash Mountain. the kids loved it. David got really wet and his hat blew off. We were glad we had our ponchos!
Since we had FPs our wait for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was very short. It was similiar to the Runaway Mine Train at Six Flags Over Texas, but it was a longer ride. The kids loved it! I took several pictures on our way into Adventureland.

P1030259.jpg

I find it amazing, I'll say I took several picutres and then when I go back and look there's only one after I threw out all of the ones that were blurry or just really not all that good for whatever reason. I'd have to go back every year to get all the shots I want! (Sounds good to all of us right? Anybody here have a problem with that?)

It was time for another set of FPs, but they didn't have FPs for the Magic Carpets of Aladdin. However, there was only a 5 minute wait so we grabbed some rug.

P1030268.jpg

When we got off Jasmine and aladdin were at the Agrabah Bazaar. However, their time was up. The CM told us to return at 11:30. Since we had a bit we used our FPs for the Jungle Cruise. I had been warned this wasn't the best attraction at Disney. it lived up to that expectation. Definitely skip it unless you have time to kill. I did take a bunch of pictures.

P1030297.jpg

P1030312.jpg

P1030315.jpg

P1030317.jpg

It was 11:30 when we got off so we headed back to Agrabah Bazaar. The line was already full, but the CM remembered us and sprinkled a little pixie dust on our day :wizard:! We were the last ones in this line. This was the longest wait we had on our trip. It was about 35 or 40 minutes. Aladdin and Jasmine were really great about taking their time with each family. We finally had out turn to meet them. I asked where Abu was, bu they said he caused a disturbance with a guest earlier over a banana and security had him in custody until he could settle down!

P1030319.jpg

We were all tired and hungry at this point, but we had promised the kids a hike through the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse. It was a good place for pics. The kids loved it. I thought I would like it more than I actually did. It has been scratched from my to-so list for future visits, but I don't know if I can get the boys to skip it!

P1030320.jpg

P1030323.jpg

P1030335.jpg

We hiked back to Pecos Bill's om Frontierland for lunch. On the way, we crossed paths with that swashbuckling pirate Captain Jack Sparrow. pirate: He said hello as he crossed over to the Pirate Tutorial. It was so fast I hardly even realized what happened. I snapped a quick picture as we walked by.

P1030338.jpg

Pecos Bill's was packed and the kids were WORN OUT. Mom and dad weren't in much better shape! I took the three younger kids and we went and found a table. David and Jonathan were left with the herculean effort of bringing us the food. David finally called on his cell phone to see where we were. How DID people do Disney World before cell phones? :confused3
We settled in and really enjoyed our lunch. We still wanted to ride Pirates of the Carribean and the Tiki room, but we were just so tired. I decided since we still had Fantasmic that rest came before rides. We could still try to fit them in before we left Friday morning. With that decision made we got back on the railroad to head to the Main Entrance. We passed Jessie and Woody on the way to the Railroad.

P1030339.jpg

We made it back to the room by 2:05. We all crashed for a 40 minute nap. It wasn't long enough. however, we were back at the bus stop by 3:00 for DHS.

Next up: Fantasmic!:yay:

Wednesday December 2- Afternoon/Evening
Upon arrival, we went straight to Hollywood and Vine for our dinner reservation. When I made reservations a 3:45 at Hollywood and Vine was all thy had available for the Fantasmic Dinner package that night. I really wanted Mama Melrose. Sometimes though, you're thankful for what you can get! Hollywood and Vine is a buffet style meal. Our total ticket ws $146 and all Lauren had was chicken nuggets!:rotfl:

P1030351.jpg

We didn't have anything on the schedule until Fantasmic at 6:30, but we wanted to be at the theater an hour early to get seats. I took the kids to the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground. David stopped off in Indiana Jones to buy a hat he saw.

We saw the Power Rangers on the way to Honey I Shrunk the Kids. Cameron and Stephen were really excited! We stopped and got their autograph and had our picture taken.

P1030355.jpg

By the time we made it to the playground, the kids only had 10 minutes to play before it closed. That was plenty of time for me to get pictures though!

It wasn't long until David found us. when the playground closed we made our way across the park to Fantasmic stopping for pictures along the way.

We got to Fantasmic an hour before the show. The general seating was only half full. We found seats in the reserved section and settled in. the 3 older kids played. David took Stephen to the bathroom and bought himself a coke on the way back. He kept Stephen occupied while I wrote in my journal. It was a nice wait and the kdis didn't go crazy! I was pleasantly surprised!

Fantasmic was Fantabulous! The kids loved it. i took tons of pictures, but so much of it I wasn't able to capture of course. David filmed it, but again, there was just so much. For a while Stephen was really worried about Mickey!

We had planned to go see the Osbourne Family Lights afterwards, but it was all the way back on the other side of the park. When I made our touring plan I thought it was along the main entrance. As Awesome as I'm sure the spectacle is, none of us had the energy to traipse back over there. I figured you can't miss what you don't know!

We stopped in a shop onn the way to the exit. I found a cute black Mickey purse that I bought. The we headed for the bus. There was one waiting for us! :wizard: On the ride home we talked with a family from Seattle. she really like our shirts!

David took the kids up to the room while I stopped by the Resort gift shop to look at some Christmas Disney shirts that had "Joy from the World 2009" across them.

The toys the kids had bought yesterday still weren't in our room so David went down to the concierge desk to check on them. I did some packing and got the kids ready for a quick night time swim. We also re packed the bags for the next day.

It took David about 20-30 minutes to track down the packages. FYI: They were in the resort gift shop. :) Once he came back the kids went wild! :yay: We quickly picked up the mess they had made and then headed to the pool for a quick 30 minute swim. The water was very warm. Then it was back to the room and baths and bed for everyone!

I am truly enjoying your TR!! You have such a beautiful family - your boys could be mistaken for triplets (well, very different sized ones but they look so much alike - very handsome boys!). Your daughter looked so pretty in her princess dress

You definitely have gotten to see most of the highlights of each Park - I may have to subscribe to Tourguide Mike. I had hopes that you would get to see Osbourne Family's Lights as it is so gorgeous and fun for the kids (plus if you don't plan a trip during Christmas season, you will miss out).

Your trip was planned around the same days we will be going this year! We originally planned for a big family reunion with all my kids plus grandson going but now it will be only 4 of us (me and my DS27, DS23 and DS17). It will be my youngest 2 sons first trip and I can't wait

I can't remember if this was your family's first trip to WDW? :confused3 You really had the Fastpass thing down :thumbsup2

Thanks! I really think my kids are beautiful too! :thumbsup2

I would absolutely subscribe to Tourguide Mike if I were you. In fact, I may have to run over there right now and resubscribe!

That's great that you and your boys are going together. That'll be a great trip with wonderful memories. I wwish your grandkids could go. There's nothing like DW through the eyes of a child.

And yes it was our first trip. I hadn't been since 1994 and the rest of the family had never beem. although the husband had been to Disneyland in '92.

Thursday December 3

This morning God woke me up at 6:47 which was a good thing because the alarm clock read 5:45. We would have overslept...again! We got up and began the process of gettin gout the door.

Today was my birthday so I had presents to open before we got too far! David and the kids got me dish towels and dishcloths(white so I can bleach them ) Lest you think he isn't romantic this IS what I asked for! He also got me a $50 iTunes gift card (which somehow didn't make it home)

Off to the bus stop we went and onto Animal KIngdom. We waited for about 30 minutes with our flying monkeys before they let us in.

Our problem was, there wasn't anybody in line and we had a very eager CM to get us ON THAT RIDE!

It was scarier than I would've thought. It was cool enough that I sent David through on his own while we did some photo ops.

P1030516.jpg

And rode Triceratop Spin:

P1030518.jpg

And took more pictures:

P1030524.jpg

P1030525.jpg

I had to wait on him to finish before we could ride Primeval Whirl because Stephen wasn't big enough. The boys did Primeval Whirl while Lauren, Stephen, and I took another whirl on Triceratop Spin. I wanted to FP Primeval Whirl for Laurne and I, but it wasn't available, so David took the boys on Triceratop Spin while Lauren and I did Primeval Whirl.

Then we made our way to Kali river Rapids, stopping for pictures and Mt. Everest FPs on the way.

We took a picture of all the kids, but here's Lauren's:

Kali River Rapids was closed. I was not disappointed! The little kids didn't want to go on the Maharajah Jungle Trek so David took the camera and Jonathan while I waited with the kids. I returned a call from my Mom while the kids got toys to play with from their backpacks.

David and Jonathan were only gone about 15 minutes. Here are a couple of pictures from their trek:

I had to go back and delete all my smileys because I exceeded the picture limit. (oops). So this will have to be continued in another post. Apparently, that post will be tonight...after my children go play with their cousins in the swimming pool and I go donate plasma. Fun Fun Fun!

We made a quick potty stop befire Kilimanjaro Safaris.

However, here are a few of my favorites:

The entrance to Pangani Forest Exploration Trails was right there so, we walked the kids through fairly quickly pausing only for a couple of pics.

P1030648.jpg

I was really rushing them trying to make the 12:00 performance of Festival of the Lion King. As we exited the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail we bought the kids Mickey bars.

P1030649.jpg

We hightailed it out of Asia and to Camp Minnie- Mickey making it just in time for the show. It was a bit hard to get pictures, but David got it on video.

I've about reached my limit for photos for this post, so I'll continue in the next post with our lunch at Pizzafari.

Thursday Dec. 3- The afternoon of my birthday!

We were ready for lunch at Pizzafari. Unfortunately, so was everyone else. It took a while to get our meal because they ran out of children's pizza. Seriously? The kdis were extra whiney too. We finally got our food and faced the challenge of finding a place to sit. Once we got squared away, we took a nice long, lunch.

Afterwards, we headed to the Boneyard site in Dinoland USA. the kids ran aroundon the playground while David and I switched off riding Mt. Everest. I even took a couple of pictures of the kids digging up a dinosaur.

P1030698.jpg

P1030702.jpg

Here's on of my favorites. The whole family in front of the Tree of Life:

P1030696.jpg

By now we were ready to leave the park and head to Epcot. however, a CM told us there was NO WAIT toe meet Pooh, Eeyore, and Tigger. Now my children each embody one of these characters. Jonathan is definitely Eeyore (Rmember, "Disneyworld? But what about the Alamo?"). Cameron is our Tigger. He is always on the move. Bouncing is fun! I just enrolled him in Power Tumbling and trampoline so he could do something with all that bouncing! And Lauren is our Pooh. If you pay attention, Pooh definitely has his own logc. Lauren is a creative thinker as well. So we stopped in for autographs and pictures.

P1030709.jpg

P1030714.jpg

P1030719.jpg

Now we were REALLY leaving the park for Epcot. As we exited the park we saw Timon off to the left with no one around! We ran over and got a picture and autograph.

P1030721.jpg

Then we boarded the bus for Epcot. Stephen was really dragging when we got to Epcot so I had David rent a stroller. Unfortunately this made Lauren and Cameron whine even more.

We went straight to the World showcase. We walked through Mexico and Norway to China. Jonathan found a sword and a knife that they shipped to our home for us. it took about 10 days or so for it to arrive. The Chinese acrobats weren't performing for another 20 minutes, so we made a quick trip through the Trading Post and Germany before looping back for the show. We also took a couple of piccs along the way.

First pass through China:

P1030724.jpg

Germany:

P1030733.jpg

The kdis were really whiney so the 20 minute show was a nice reprieve-for their feet and legs and Mom and Dad's ears! Not to mention, the performances were amazing! I took lots of pictures. Of course it dawned on me AFTER the show that I should've had David videotape it.

P1030805.jpg

P1030818.jpg

P1030849.jpg

P1030858.jpg

As I watched the show, I wondered about hte children involved. Were they really here all the way from China? Certainly not. Certainly they were just Chinese Americans living in the Orlando area. Also, how were they treated? Did they have to endure long grueling days of rehearsals and performances? What kind, if any, punishment did the face if they made a mistake? At the end of the show, one of the adults with them said they enjoyed their time in America. They really appreciated the privilege of being in America while they continued to improve on their acrobatic skills.

Anyway, with the show over, we had a decision to make. Do we walk back through Norwayand Mexico and over to future World and The Living Seas or around to the ferry launch? I opted for the ferry launch. wrong decision. We had to wait for the ferry to return and then it droppwed us just outside Mexico. the kdis were practically running to keep up as we rushed to make our 5:00 ADR at Coral Reef.

I took this picture while we waited for the ferry. Its one of my favorites.

I was a little disappointed, but to be honest by this point I was so tired and my head hurt so badly it wouldn't have mattered if Stephen Curtis Chapman had eaten dinner with us. Tonight was the Candlelight Processional. Stephen Curtis Chapman was narrating and he is my favorite christian artist. So this was my birthday present to myself!

I found the restaurant very crowded and very loud. after sitting for a bit i unwound enough to enjoy watching the fish and the family of scuba divers. I foundit amusing that for a $200 meal 3 of the 4 kids had cheese pizzas! Thank goodness for the DDP. You manage not to throw up all your food when you see that. Its especially nice when you're there during free dining!

Since I had bought the Candlelight Processional dinner package we had reserved seating for CP as well as special viewing for Illuminations. We strolled through Canada and Britain. I tried to take some pictures, but it was too dark so I finally gave up.

Aurora and Belle were in France. Lauren got in line for a quick hug and photo from Aurora. Belle was late for dinner with the Beast so we didn't take a picture with her.

I received a call from the airline offering us a chance to rebook our flight home because they were expecting snow in Houston. I didn't want to try to deal with that in the park so I just added it to my mental to-do list for when we got back to the hotel.

The kidis were exhausted when we got in line for the CP. In fact, Stephen was asleep in the stroller. We had about a 45 minute wait in line before our show. The kids played with their toys, but they were cold and exhausted. This meant the did a lot of whining. When it was our turn to go in, David sat at the top of the amphitheater with Stephen while I took the other 3 down to regular seating.

We sat about 3 rows from the front of the stage. The music was wonderful. Stephen Curtis Chapman did an absolutely fabulous fantastic awesome job of narrating. We were sitting too close to get really good pictures of the production. David was in the back videotaping and I did get several of Stephen Curtis Chapman.

Lauren and Cameron fell asleep during the show so I couldn't stand for the singing of Handel's Messiah. I enjoyed the show, but in a different way than what I had expected. I expected I would fell excitement like I did at Fantasmic or Wishes, but instead I felt peace and joy. what better way to enjoy this particular show?

At the end, I woke the kids up and we went to find David. He had sat on the very last row about 20 feet from the rope. We couldn't see really well so he stood up to video. Some lady asked him to sit down so those behind the rope could see. So basically, I bought a $200 dinner for reserved seating and my husband couldn't see the show so that someone who didn't even make it IN to see the show, would be able to see. Stephen woke up and was a little fussy so David left and didn't get to see the show at all. Not the perfect birthday. :sad2:

We went back to the restrooms between Morocco and France after the show. We decided to skip Illuminations so we headed back to the front gate. It took us a little longer because David and i were so tired we each made a couple of navigational errors. We returned the stroller and went to the bus stop.

We were exhausted when we got to the hotel. David took the kids to the room while I stopped by the gift shop and bought the T-Shirts I had seen earlier that said, "Joy From the World 2009". However, they only had 1 adult large which meant we would have to pick David's up at the Polynesian the next morning after breakfast.

When I got to the room, packing was in full swing. the kids were taking baths. David and I both were not feeling well and Stephen and Cameron couldn't seem to be obedient. Things were finally settling down and I called the airlines about rebooking our flights. All they had was a 1:30 departure with 1 stop in Austin and continuing to Dallas. We would have to leave 3 hours earlier, but we wouldn't have to worry about the snow in Houston or making a connecting flight. Unfortunately, this meant we wouldn't make it back to Magic Kingdom to ride PoC or the Tiki Room.

I called the front desk to get directions to OHANAs for our breakfast the next morning with Lilo & Stitch. I also needed to find out how to change our flight information for Magical Express. After talking to the concierge I called the number for Magical Express. The lady took my information and assured me that the people at the check in kisok would reprint the correct bus boarding voucher and luggage tags. At last, it was time for some sleep.
