We are so excited :jumping1::jumping1:.

Originally we were going to go back to Vegas for valentines day weekend and then the idea of Disney came up. We were talking last night about what we should do and here is what we came up with.

Instead of going someplace we have already been during our originally scheduled valentines day weekend/Jennifer's 25th birthday, she is coming down to Chicago on 3/3 and on 3/4 we fly to Cancun and will be there until 3/11. We will celebrate a belated valentines day/her 25th birthday/vacation in Cancun. Jennifer completely flipped when I told her my idea and she loved it. Her phone is busy still so I'm sure she is still calling her friends and telling them where we are going. I had just enough points plus a few extra $$$ to upgrade us to first class on our flights. Neither of us have been to Cancun nor flown first class so it should be a really good time and a really nice treat for both of us. We are staying at Dreams Cancun Resort & Spa in a Club Jacuzzi Jr Suite, all-inclusive. Here is a picture of where we are staying:

Here is a picture of what our view should look like:

We almost stayed there when we went in October (during Wilma). Fortunately, we ended up in Playa so we didn't get hit as bad. Have a great time!

Thanks. 43 days does seem like a long time from now, but with January almost being over, it will be here before we know it. Atleast I can finally use my passport I got for something.

Those pics look awesome. You are going to have a great time, make sure to tell us all about it. I'd love to go to Cancun someday.

calie_j,

I will make sure to let everyone know how it was. Sure Cancun is still rebuilding and some of the spots are still being worked on and look pretty bad, but the choice really isn't that difficult. Would you rather be sitting in the balcony jacuzzi looking at a wonderful view of the ocean drinking a cold beer in 75-85 degree weather or be at work watching it snow or rain and 30 degree temps. That sure is a hard choice isn't it :) .

Ohhh, I'm so jealous! ;)

Nah, the pics look gorgeous! Have a blast!

Hi,

All I have left to do is process my payment online and it's a go. Then the waiting game begins, but what a great thing to be waiting for.

Sounds fab ~ Hope you have a fantastic time.

Minniespal,

Since neither one of us have been to Cancun this is going to be a treat for us.

Cancun is incredible!!! That is my happy place!! DH and I went in Oct. of '04 for 5 days!! The water is really that blue and the sand is really that white, clean and soft. It doesn't get hot like the sand in the states! You will be in heaven!!!!!! :sunny:

Can't tell you anything about Cancun........but you will never want to fly coach again! The first time we flew in first dd17 was actually uncomfortable because we got so much attention! On our return flight, she was an old pro and is totally spoiled now.

Two summers ago, she flew solo to Washington DC for a conference, and the flight attendant kept trying to give her champagne or wine. (DD looks older than her age). She missed the "perfect opportunity" to indulge in underage drinking......thank goodness.

What airline are you flying?

LindaR,

Spirit Airlines. They don't call it First Class, they call it Spirit Class, but it's the same thing. Nice large leather seats (flown them before, and saw the seats) that recline nicely. The private check in counters and priority boarding will be nice as well.

Dreams looks great !!
We were supposed to stay in Cancun Nov 4-11, until Wilma wiped out Cancun and damaged the JW Marriott, our hotel.

Disney-Kim,

Part of me wishes we were going tommorrow, but the other part of me says the wait is worth it.

Not to rain on your parade but I didn't enjoy Cancun that much. The beaches are GREAT, though. DH is going in April and I could go along but no thanks. He has NO desire to go because when we were there before he was VERY sick.

You do need to get to some of the ruins/parks though. We spent a day at Xcarat and that was amazing. You can float down this underwater river that is a blast. There are some ruins there but not a lot. They have a small zoo type set up in part of the park and you can snorkel off the beach there (I think they have a dolphin swim there too if I remember correctly).

We at at the LaDistileria one night and that was a BLAST. Great food too.
