I just paid our May trip off yesterday! :cool1: I can't wait. We are only going for a weekend but it is a surprise for one of my DD for her 13th b-day. (We are surprising the other in Sept. for her 10th b-day.) Have fun planning. :goodvibes

Hi all-

I am still collecting prices for postage, envelopes, cds w/cases.

When a thought crossed my mind.

I am only going to turn right around and upload my photos to a site like Winkflash or Shutterfly, so I can make a photobook. I wonder if everyone else is doing that? I could upload the whole Photopass cd to a site and everyone can access their photos there.

No postage, no waiting.

http://www.winkflash.com/content/sharing.asp

http://sharecentral.shutterfly.com/

I did this with my dd's Big Fat Greek Double (neice & daughter at same time) Baptism. 7 cds of photos taken by the photographer was just too many to sort through, so I created a group on Walmarts website & invited family members to join, that way they could just look or order or even add some they took with their cameras. If you really want to see them I can send you a link.

Also I did see posted on another thread:
"As a sidenote - when I ordered the CDs there was a disclaimer that stated only PhotoPass photos and the edits would be on the disk. Nothing from the "uploaded" folder - or the Disney gallery photos would be included."

And it is true you can only preorder 60 days in advance. So
money due : 30 March
60 preorder date : 12 April
30 day window starts : 12 May
last trip date : 1 June
final edits due : 11 June
cd arrives & I upload : 18 June

Can I still get a cd from this site? That way I will still have all of my pictures with me. It sounds like a great idea, I am just kinda OCD about having a cd of my pics "just in case". Just so I understand the dates. I have to pay by March 30th and have all of my pics picked by June 11th. Correct me if I have it wrong.

I sure hope you can order a cd. I'll look into them some more*. I tried looking at that on the Walmart group I have for family & it seemed like they wanted me to order prints of everything first ($0.09ea.) & then I could order an index cd ($2.98).

*I see on Shutterfly 2 types of dVDs, but no cd. One DVD is for archieving - no enhancements & may not work in every tvs player . The other is a slideshow DVD)http://www.shutterfly.com/shop/photo_dvds/product_c10300

Winkflash has an Archivel cd & a photodvd. I don't know about the particulars of ech. Also they do not charge for downloads, so if you had a burner you could make your ownhttp://www.winkflash.com/gifts/

Like I said, I don't know is you have to order prints to get the cd from Walmart
http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?search_constraint=5426&search_query=cd&ic=48_0&skin=photo

Even though I can not pre-order the cd until April 12th I was told it's best to ask for the money to be due a little earlier. If we go with the online upload to a photo site then only the share of the Photopass cd would be do. ($99/6- $16.50).

If anyone knows of other photo sites, let me know

Snapfish also has group rooms, but I don't know about their products.http://www2.snapfish.com/creategroupinfo/t_=111057160

I didn't see share groups on Kodak's site, but I thought this was cool.

You can upload your photos & have them put on a card for your digital frames!

I looked on the winflash site. I checked on the cd and it is 9.99 and 1.99 to ship it. That sounds fine to me. I do have a burner though so even downloading them and doing it myself would be fine. So is everyone else set in stone about this? Like do we know that everyone is participating and that will be the amount for each of us?

I have received pms from everyone on the list that they are in. However, I have not seen them post on this thread even though I sent them the link right after I got their yes.

So that also means I have not got everyone's opinion on the online share group site.

What brought this idea up was I finally got around to burning cds of my photos stored on my computer. Only about 200 photo fit on a cd. Some may end up needing more than one cd. And with the new sort by date rather than card# thing Photopass started - it will be very difficult to sort everyone out especially since 3 of us have overlapping days.

I was wondering what would happen if you rename the photo. Would Photopass then sort alphabetically or revert to date?

PrincessParty (Amy) is busy w/ her mom's b'day party all weekend.

Just checking in, it is the calm before the storm. Made it to the airport yesterday to pick up my sister and then they closed the expressway both directions as there was a bad wreck and they needed aircare. (Took us forever to get home.)

DH has been shoveling snow all week and took some Motrin for a backache and his face swelled up and he looked like Shrek. Went to the ER, thankfully was only there 3 hours, but is now on steroids for a week. He is allergic to Motrin we found out.

DH grandma was admitted to ICU with pneumonia, but has since had a heart attack and is on life support.

We are having my Mom's b-day party today with the whole family....can I just say we are extremely dysfunctional and I am sure there will be DRAMA!

So, needless to say I haven't looked at the sites. I promise to do so, hopefully on Monday when the kids are back in school and my family goes home. (The kids were home for 4 days due to snow/ice.)

I have to admit, I am happy if I can order a CD.

I will do the cd for everyone who wants it. I would like permission to try the share site anyway though.

I'll say a prayer for you Amy.

This board is here as release valve, not another chore that needs doing. We still have plenty of time.

On the other hand if Disney doesn't come out with the May hours tomorrow I think I'm gonna ........I don't know what but something!

Hi there everyone!
I'm sorry for not getting on the thread quicker.
We are really looking forward to this trip. We will have my father with us this year. He's been in and out of the hospital and as a matter of fact just got out 2 days ago. I also started college so I'm playing cach up this weekend. It's been hectic to say the least.
I think it's a great idea uploading to another site, although I'm not totally sure how it works. Will we still be able to edit the photos on the PhotoPass site and if so do we just print them out or buy the CD? Either way I'm sure will be fine. I've been in one other Photoshare before, last year and it worked out great.
Thanks so much for starting our cool new thread!!

The share site is fine with me also Melani. After reading the thread I understand it. I can send Payment anytime just let me know. If you need extra for the CD's and postage let me know and I'll send it along as well.

We're so excited...almost 100 days to go for us!!

First, I'm glad to hear you dad's doing better.

BTW, I may all but disappear in Feb. We pushed end-of-the-year reports back a month, so I'm trying to get as much done on this as I can now.

Everything remains the same.
If you want me to burn a copy of the Photopass cd, I will.

But when I get the Photopass cd, I was going to upload it to one of the online photo sites, so I could make a photobook.

These sites also have group rooms for clubs/organizations/families/etc.. to upload/edit/store/exchange/order photos.
I could create a share/group room on one and give everyone the address & access code.
That way you could add photos you took with your camera and if you wanted to save a few bucks, I could skip mailing your cd.

I read that Photopass is NOT including your uploaded photos (ones taken with your camera) to the cd.

Check out the links I gave earlier to the sites & see which one has products you like.

Hey everyone! My husband is a professional photographer and he knows how all this stuff works. I'll show him this thread and pick his brain to see what our best options are and get back to you all.

What & your using Photopass! I guess everyone needs a break from the real world. Did you check out one of the links in my 1st post is to a review of Photopass by a pro. photographer on vacation at Disney.

I brought up posting the photos on a share site because I'm putting mine there to make a photobook & let my sisters see our trip. I just thought maybe everyone elso was doing something similar and if we could all agree on one company it might be a time & money saver.

I am open to any site. I would like to order a CD and/or prints for my photo album. Thanks again for putting all this time into this for us, :worship:
