We're Doing WHAT For My Birthday??? - Final Thoughts

Again with the no pictures? Seriously, what is up with that? I didn't have any issues the two times we rode Jaws, but we were never in the front.

Love your photos in the Jaws queue and the shot of the MiB ride. I didn't get a picture of the whole area.

Sounds like you enjoyed everything Simpsons.

I'll be interested in hearing about (and seeing) the Beetlejuice show through your eyes.

Yeah, teach us to ride up front - lol. TY on the queue pics and MiB. We came back and rode it a bit later.

Simpsons was pretty cool, we enjoyed it. Very well themed. Beetlejuice coming up soon!

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Great update Mike!

what a great update! I'm bummin about the no pics!! Sorry they were such camera nazi's!

Ah well, next time we'll sit in the back.

How weird

I swore I posted

I definitely read it

SImpsons area looks great.

Trent always asking to watch it, but a little young

But I would definitely take him on the ride

The world is full of weirdness ;) Yes, I'm sure Trent would get a major kick out of the ride. :thumbsup2

I almost asked what a Squishee was because I started at the bottom of the page. Then I was like "Doh"! Great update Mike!!

I started walking along the lagoon as there were shade trees as I worked to catch up with Roxy and her super scooter.

I stopped to take a pic of the buildings across the way
WDW2011-1244.JPG

I ran out of shade so headed back to the street and caught a good shot of the Monster Makeup Show and made a mental note to return to it.
WDW2011-1245.JPG

I crossed to the right and came across a band just finishing up a set in front of Mels
WDW2011-1246.JPG

WDW2011-1247.JPG

I kept walking towards the Monster Review stage and who did I find parked? The Blues Brothers! Elwood gave me a wave before they had to drive off to do their set
WDW2011-1248.JPG

I met up with Roxy and found out she had also seen the Blues Brothers but what she was really jazzed about was a meeting with Doc Brown, who was near his steam engine/time machine. There wasn’t anyone around at the time so she had a very cool on-on-one interaction with him.
WDW2011-1225.JPG

They do a great job of finding actors to play these characters, as you’ll see from Beetlejuice and his crew. We headed in and got seats at the bottom of the stands behind the floor seating. One of the ushers was really into the rock n roll vibe of the show and kept us well entertained until the show started.
WDW2011-1249.JPG

Soon enough the show started with a mummy saying hello
WDW2011-1250.JPG

The set itself was pretty cool
WDW2011-1251.JPG

Then the man of the hour came out
WDW2011-1252.JPG

He was wondering where his supporting cast was
WDW2011-1253.JPG

He decided to come out and meet his public
WDW2011-1254.JPG

He came my way and immediately spotted my camera
WDW2011-1255.JPG

Not one to miss a photo op he slicked up
WDW2011-1256.JPG

…and gave me a pose
WDW2011-1257.JPG

Then it was back to the stage to start the introductions of his crew – Franky was first
WDW2011-1258.JPG

Creeping up behind him was Drac
WDW2011-1259.JPG

Beetlejuice did a little Franky impression
WDW2011-1260.JPG

Next up was Franky’s Wife
WDW2011-1263.JPG

Last up was the Wolman; they all then moved out to start the show
WDW2011-1264.JPG

Beetlejuice thought they needed to get with the times so he sent them running
WDW2011-1265.JPG

He worked some magic
WDW2011-1266.JPG

And they came back transformed into much “cooler” versions of themselves
WDW2011-1269.JPG

They all started rockin’
WDW2011-1271.JPG

And dancin’
WDW2011-1274.JPG

Drac started into his song
WDW2011-1276.JPG

The others provided good dancing backup
WDW2011-1277.JPG

Beetlejuice added in his two cents
WDW2011-1279.JPG

And then got the monsters back in line
WDW2011-1281.JPG

WDW2011-1282.JPG

And started singing
WDW2011-1283.JPG

He was very ‘spirited’
WDW2011-1284.JPG

Then he brought out his undead “cheering” section
WDW2011-1285.JPG

WDW2011-1286.JPG

Everyone started dancing again
WDW2011-1288.JPG

Then the Wolman started into his number with the girls
WDW2011-1289.JPG

WDW2011-1290.JPG

WDW2011-1291.JPG

The crew on stage kept doing some energetic dancing
WDW2011-1292.JPG

While he came down into the audience singing his tune
WDW2011-1293.JPG

He was a very laid back dude
WDW2011-1294.JPG

WDW2011-1295.JPG

But then he jumped up and started really working the crowd
WDW2011-1297.JPG

WDW2011-1298.JPG

And then he turned and ran back up onstage
WDW2011-1299.JPG

..and finished his song with the rest of the review
WDW2011-1300.JPG

Enlargement of the Review

Beetlejuice gave some kudos

Love the pictures of the Beetlejuice show. For a minute there, I thought BJ was going to tell you to put down your camera! :rotfl: Glad you got poses from him instead!

Spoiler alert- we never did see the show. Everyone else in my family prefers to skip the shows for rides/attractions. What does the crew sing? Songs I would recognize or are they original songs written specifically for the show?

I've always thought that was the best kind!!

True enough

Well if you love them I have more to come! We try to balance out the rides and shows, gives some good rest breaks that way :)

The songs are 80s classics and include Jump, I Will Survive, You Give Love a Bad Name and Dancing in the Dark .

We come back to more dancing as the Bride does her number
WDW2011-1304.JPG

WDW2011-1309.JPG

Beetlejuice went back to his MC duties
WDW2011-1310.JPG

…and then took a seat as Frankie started to jam while Drac sang
WDW2011-1311.JPG

He was ‘putting a spell’ on her
WDW2011-1313.JPG

He was really belting it out

Beetlejuice showed looked so fun

I don't think Trent would like them all walking around audience, so if we get there next year, we will have to skip that. But I am glad got to feel like I saw it anyway throught your pics :goodvibes

The guy playing Doc Looked great :thumbsup2

Thanks for the additional pictures and info about the songs.

Now I am even more bummed I missed the show!

Thanks again for sharing!

wow!! I would love that show! So did that Beetlejuice actor sound like the real Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton)?

Well you could always take him and just sit up in the stands, but I hear ya. Glad I was able to take you along for the ride though :)

Yeah, Doc looked cool, wish I could have seen him to but glad Roxy did.

Thanks for the additional pictures and info about the songs.

You're very welcome - there's always next time!

It was really fun! And the actor was very Keatonesque in both voice and mannerism, he rocked it.

Beetlejuice finished his guitar solo and sprinted for the stage
WDW2011-1329.JPG

Once up there he did a big jam with the guys while the girls did some cartwheels
WDW2011-1330.JPG

Drac seemed to be having some issues with Frankie

They all take their places, say goodbye, and disappear into the set
WDW2011-1337.JPG

Large Shot of Them Saying Goodbye

It was a very fun and entertaining show. If you like big Beetlejuice theatrics, 80s classics, and some good monster song and dance this show’s for you!

We wanted to check out the MiB ride since we didn’t have time when we were over at the Simpsons ride. So we strolled back through Amity and I stopped just before the bride to take in that New England charm one more time
WDW2011-1339.JPG

WDW2011-1338.JPG

Panorama of Amity Village

Then it was on to the MiB ride. Very sorry I don’t have any pics of it, I remembered it was a dark ride from out rime on it in 2002 so I figured it wasn’t worth it and we put it and our extra baggage into one of the free lockers. It was a fun ride, very much like Space Ranger Spin. To its credit it came out before Buzz and has tandem cars that hold more people. You actually compete against the car that heads out at the same time you do.

Now we were wondering what to do next. We decided to check out another classic, the E.T. ride! This meant walking back up towards the front of the park and hooking a left. The big plus about MiB and E.T. is that both had now been around for a while so the lines weren’t bad on either. We watched the video and got our licenses and then boarded our bicycles. This was another ‘dark’ ride but I made an attempt at catching some aliens.

Got the elder
WDW2011-1340.JPG

WDW2011-1341.JPG

And E.T. himself …or one of his cousins, I honestly can’t remember – lol
WDW2011-1342.JPG

From there we headed back down the California Street
WDW2011-1343.JPG

And couldn’t help but catch another shot of Mel’s
WDW2011-1344.JPG

Looking down the street, who did we see??? That’s right, BEETLEJUICE! He seemed to have something stuck …uhhh, down there. The little girl was not amused – her name must not have been Lydia ;-D
WDW2011-1345.JPG

Roxy however, is a big fan – w00t!
WDW2011-1346.JPG

Beetlejuice is smitten
WDW2011-1347.JPG

A quick handshake
WDW2011-1348.JPG

Little hug?
WDW2011-1349.JPG

No way, BIG HUG!
WDW2011-1350.JPG

WDW2011-1351.JPG

I stepped up and moved in for a double handshake as he gave a winning Beetlejuice grin
WDW2011-1352.JPG

ROCK ON!!!
