going on fri ok "kids want to take the laptop " to do there home work ( pigs might fly ) do i put it in the case or take it on the plane??????thanks alan

I would definitely carry on my laptop. Would not even consider putting it in a suitcase. You will handle it with care and if you keep your eye on it you won't have to worry about theft.

Take mine onboard with me although I do have a very tiny laptop maybe 4 lbs with a very slim design. My DD3 likes to watch DVD's on it during the flight. I always try to take a new Disney one or something. Also we use it everyday down there just to clean off the memory card for the digital camera so the next day we are free to shoot a lot of pics again. If possible grab a small lock for it and stick it in a drawer "out of sight" in the hotel room just to be a little safer.

My DS took his with us when we went in June. He carried it on. After watching them load our luggage I'm glad he did.

Remember that you will have to pull it out of it's case and put it through the airport security scanner alone. It is good to have something on your laptop to diffierenciate it from any others (like Mickey stickers) Last time I traveled there were 3 simlar laptops going through the scanner the same time as mine. Yikes.
