Booked our Florida/WDW holiday yesterday for this summer. So pleased to get direct flights from Glasgow. Staying 6 nights CBR + 4 nights Sirata Resort, St.Pete Beach + 4 nights Tuscana Resort, Orlando.

are you going in june?
if you look at the podcast board, you'll see there are a bunch of people going in june who are trying to arrange for a mini-meet somewhere..

in case you're interested...

No we are going beginning of July, thanks for mentioning the mini meet though.

I wonder how hot/humid it will be first 2 weeks in July - very hot l imagine. Is end July & August the very hottest time in Florida or is all of July just as hot? Whatever the weather l'm just sooooo glad we are going, been dreaming about it for the last 3 years. :cloud9:

it's just as hot when you're going....
hotter than you ever imagined possible...
but it's not the heat that will kill you....tis the humidity.....
or rather, the heat combined with the humidity (about 100% even when it's not raining) are pretty incredible....hotter than hades for sure...

but having said that - you'll be at WDW, so all is right with the world....just take it slowly and remember to drink drink drink drink drink.....

we almost always went in July, because that's when we could go...
no matter...despite the heat, we loved every minute of it...
just be prepared to sweat and sweat and sweat some more...

Many thanks for your reply.

A few years ago l was there end of Aug/Sept, found it pretty hot, but it was fine, did more in the cooler parts of the day and took it easier some afternoons. Am l correct in assuming it will be quite a bit hotter beginning of July than end of August/first half of September?

As you say we'll be at WDW, so all is right with the world. :cloud9:

it might be a bit hotter in july, but what difference does it make if it's drop dead hot vs in a coma hot?

it's HOT.....
and rainy...but usually the rain hits only in the afternoon and only for an hour of time-to-build-an-ark rain....

actually, the place is really impressive when you think about it...
extraordinarily extreme heat and humidity...
extraordinarily heavy rain....wall of water rain...the sky has opened rain....but only for about an hour, every day at 4 PM..

and then there's the lightening....the most ground strikes on earth....
if you've never noticed, when you're at WDW pay attention to how many lightening rods there are...if you happen to be standing in line outside for anything in the parks, look up and you'll see that every few feet there's a lightening rod...
amazing....

yes...very impressive weather.....very very....sort of wrath of god weather...

but still....you're at disney world.....nuf said...

Thanks Angela,

I am on :cloud9::cloud9: :) Only booked last week, had been thinking of going for a short break to DLRP again this year, but persuaded DH to go to Florida for 2 weeks instead. :woohoo:

We're flying direct from Glasgow with Thomas Cook on the 2nd July. (Day after DS John's 7th birthday). With DH's work & 2 family weddings this year we were restricted with what date's we could go, otherwise we would have chosen a cooler time of year. Anyway l'm sooooo glad we're going.
We're staying 6 nights onsite at CBR + 4 nights St Pete (Sirata Beach) + 4 nights offsite (Tuscana Orlando Resort)

Louise & John are really pleased. You know me sooooo well. :dance3:  :cheer2:

Hope you had a great time at WDW in January. :goodvibes

Thanks Hazel,

DH is :), the kids are :yay: and l'm :yay::yay::yay: LOL

Still at the early planning stage:
while at
CBR (6 nights) - MK, AK, Epcot, Hollywood Studios,

St Pete Beach (4 nights) - Busch Gardens, Salvador Dali Museum (DH is a Dali fan) - been to both of them before with DH (pre-kids)

Orlando offsite (4 nights) - Seaworld, possibly Universal, maybe Kennedy Space Center (saw a shuttle launch when l was there with DH, it was brilliant, out of this world, LOL), some shopping mall time.

That is great!

We have done all of our trips in July and have always been more bothered by the showers than the heat. Yes it is hot but everywhere is heavily airconditioned so perfectly manageable. Our afternoon showers generally lasted for much more then half and hour most days - but maybe we were unlucky. Am giving Aug a go this year and expect it to be much the same.

Living in Scotland l'm used to rain, so don't mind it, though from what l remember when it rains at WDW it REALLY rains. Wonder if the Disney rain ponchos are still yellow?, they were years ago. Probably still got ours somewhere.

:woohoo: happy planning!

It's such a great feeling to get booked and even better to have direct flights from Glasgow:thumbsup2

We've only ever been in late June/ July and are doing the same again this year, humidity more than heat and HEAVY rain showers as previously mentioned but all are easy to cope with when you're in WDW:banana:

nope, they're not yellow...they're transparent...
makes it much easier to find the others in your group since you can see the clothing underneath...
