Day 3: June 12, 2007 BD-Day
So here it is: DDs 5th birthday! Ok, were all excited now!
Despite our best efforts, we cant get to the bus before 10:30 today :/ . DD wants to wear a princess dress, and it takes a while to get everything organized. But eventually, were all sunscreened up, DD is wearing her new pink Disney
Crocs, I make sure I have all the ADR info and off we go!
We get to the MK and we feel at home already. This place is everyones favorite park. First order of business is getting DW some Crocs. After seeing me handle the walking well and the agony of her feet, she wants some, black or not. While were there, I buy me and DD our lanyards and pins, and DD gets a few princessy things to take to Cindys for lunch (Belle crown, Belle wand, and Minnie shoes
hey, its what she wanted!). DW picks up her pins later in the day. By this time its getting close to lunch time, but we decide to grab a Space Mountain fastpass before our ADR.
We arrive for our ADR, and they are ready to take us right away. So into the lobby to meet and greet Cindy we go. AS DD gets to Condy, shes in utter awe. Cinderella was completely charming. She totally engaged with DD and when I thanked her quietly afterwards, she warmly clasped my hand and said Im very pleased you could come, Your Grace!
Heres a pic of her talking to DD and the official pic that came with dinner.
We went up stairs and were seated in a fantastic window table. The waiter quickly took out orders, and we soaked up the ambience. It was great! Both DW and I ordered the Major Domos Favorite Pie and were very pleased. DD barely touched her food
not a huge surprise given that she was about to meet so many of her favorites! A short while later, the princesses came in. They included Snow White, Belle, Jasmine, and Fairy Godmother. Snow White and Belle are two of DDs absolute favorites, so she was delighted! Heres a pic with Snow White:
If she looks a little less than enthusiastic, its not because of that, its because she was a bit overwhelmed! All the princesses were great, and wished her a happy birthday. They all signed her autograph book AND the lovely birthday card they gave her. DD was wearing a purple non-Disney princess dress and Belle (totally in character) told her that she really liked that she was being her Own princess and gave her a big hug. DD was floating on air. Heres a pic with Belle:
After that, they did the wishing ceremony and you can see that DD is concentrating very hard on her wishing star:
At last we had to leave the castle and head out for a little fun! First stop: Mad Tea Party! DD loves the Alice movie, so we had to hit this. We had a great time! Heres an in-action shot:
We then headed down to watch the parade, where the rain came down pretty hard. Still we had a lot of fun. Heres a fun shot of Mickey:
And heres my favorites, the villains! Notice the slightly waterlogged Cruella:
After that, it was off to Toontown and here DD got to get her face painted. She chose Princess Kitty and heres the results:
Cute, eh?
Next was Goofys barnstormer. DD liked this, but she was really jazzed to ride SM, so after looking around TT a bit more, its off to Space Mountain.
Im still amazed she wants to ride it, but she handled EE (well except fro the Yeti
Do Not Want!). So into SM. We have a great time, especially with the themeing. I do hope, however, that the upcoming refurb updates the coaster portion. Its a tad outdated IMO.
After SM, we fastpass Buzz and then hope into line at the Monsters Inc Laugh Floor. We really liked this show, not the least because DD got picked out for attention. It was during section of the show with Mike Wazowskis cousin/nephew (I forget). At one point in his show, he says It looks like we have a Princess in the audience folks. The lights come on my daughter and the CM comes over with a mic and she was up on the big screen to the left of the main screen. The crowd made the appropriate Ahhs. I thought she might freeze up or come running to Mom and dad, but she remained quite composed. The on-screen character asked her name, She replied Gwen and then he asked her where she was from. She replied Indiana. The monster enthusiastically announces, Ladies and Gentleman, the Princess of Indiana! He then asked Who brought you here today? She replied, my Mommy and Daddy. And the monster announced, ladies and gentleman, we have the King and Queen of Indiana here today! Much laughter, and DW and I gave our Royal Waves, which amused the monster. Anyway, we loved the show, and I was really impressed with the technology. The blending of the characters from the film with the SM controlled characters was really well done IMO.
After the show, we did Buzz and then headed towards our dinner ADRs. As we got to the castle, the Mickey show there was going on and we caught most of it. It seemed pretty cool and we hope to catch it from better seats next trip.
We then hit the Crystal Palace for our ADR. It was crowded and the characters here seemed a bit pressed. But they all were very nice to DD and signed her book and we got great pics. She also got a birthday card there. We also really liked the food here. Heresa a great pic of DD with Tigger:
And DW gets a big hug from her favorite, Pooh bear!
We decide to call it a fairly early night, we go shopping on Main Street, and DD plays at one of the bubble machines the CMs had out to entertain the little ones waiting for Spectromagic:
We then make a fairly leisurely trip back to the room, where we are greeted with another really cute towel animal
a penguin:
We settle in and got to sleep after the Best Day Ever.
