Got back very late last night/morning. So in traditional style, here are our highs and lows:

Highs:
Dreams!!!! I can't say enough good things about this, just amazing :lovestruc
Hotel New York, again did not disappoint :thumbsup2
Park looking beautiful, especially in the sun. We saw things being painted most days and the gardeners out during EMH
EMH - always better when the sun's out
Tour of the main park: really informative and enjoyed by all of us - a wee surprise I didn't know about either that thrilled ds to bits :)
Despite being very high season, we found the crowds manageable and did most of what we wanted
Meeting Max at our hotel
Food everywhere we ate was very good
Being able to relax in the pool on hot afternoons and knowing we'd be going back out to the park later :goodvibes

Lows:
Nothing to do with Disney - I still had toothache throughout the whole trip. On the day we arrived I felt like a zombie....I didn't slept well at all the entire trip so I did feel groggy most days.
Stunt show at the Studios was a real disappointment - just not the same anymore :(

We had a fantastic time again, as we always do. I've read a couple of the threads on here this week and I genuinely don't feel like that. I love just being at DLP. We've made so many wonderful memories over the years and my kids have practically grown up there. They can navigate the parks really well and enjoy seeing the same things. They have never once said anything to me about the maintenance or running of the parks - they see it through kids eyes...which is what I do too :rotfl2:

I refuse to pay all that money and not make the most of it - I must have rose tinted glasses, and I love them :lmao:

Off now to upload some photos and make a start on my trippie :)

Welcome back! :goodvibes

Sorry to hear your toothache continued to plague your visit. But from the look of your highs it sounds like you didn't let it get you down too much! :thumbsup2

Looking forward to reading your trip report :wizard:

I have had THE best time too - I got engaged!!!! Have I mentioned thst before?? Haha!!!!

I feel the same as you about the park - these rose tinted glasses are the best ever!!

The park was stunning in the sunshine (oh my it was HOT) and the flowers were beautiful. When the sun set it was magical :)

Welcome home Julie  glad to see all those highs, pity about your toothache though
Hope its better now.
Looking forward to this TR!
:woohoo::yay::coffee:

Can't believe you're already back! Sounds wonderful to be in Disney in the sunny weather. Our DLP trips tend to be in winter so looking forward to our August trip and hoping for some nice weather. Sorry to here about your toothache  We love all our trips to DLP and always find something new to do.:yay:

Welcome back and glad you had such a great time! :thumbsup2 Sorry the toothache continued though... are you better yet?

I know what you mean about the Stunt Show, so many bits have been taken out now although I suppose for first timers it is still quite spectacular - it's just when you know what is missing.

Very envious of you meeting Max!

Sounds like a great trip, hope you get the toothache sorted soon and can get some sleep! :goodvibes

Welcome back Julie, hope the toothache has now gone. Glad you enjoyed your trip:goodvibes

Oh, I don't know what's going on with that stunt show - stunts still very good but not a patch on what it was. Such a shame... My eldest DS who didn't come with us is gutted that we saw Max...he loved him when he was wee.

Welcome back Julie, hope the toothache has now gone. Glad you enjoyed your trip:goodvibes

Thanks Nikki - on the mend now :goodvibes

What's changed at the stunt show is this adding lightning McQueen or has there been other changes?

What's changed at the stunt show is this adding lightning McQueen or has there been other changes?

Well, where do I start :sad2:

When I saw this the very first time, the whole show was about how they made the final movie. So they'd get people from the audience to pose as extras, selling from the fruit stall etc, and nearly getting run over. The main guy would also run along the front of the set, beside the water. I think there might have been a jet ski in the water too, and various other things. They would cut all the bits together so that when you saw the movie at the end it made total sense. Herbie also came out and got a wee cheer from the audience. The final stunt was also spectacular.

A few years ago they got rid of Herbie and put a bit in about Lightning McQueen. This meant they didn't have as much time to tell the full story, so some bits were missed, but still ok and all the little kids loved it.

When we saw this the other day (only the other day :crazy2:) there was no McQueen, just a short movie clip of Cars 2. Loads of stunts were missed too. The guy didn't fall off the building, the main guy didn't come across to the water bit of the set and swing on the rope etc, and the most shocking bit...they didn't do the final stunt at the end!!!

So disappointing as we always love watching this. Maybe it was a weather thing? I don't know. It was warm but I just can't figure out why it would have changed to this extent. I'm hoping it's a one off and something was wrong, as they do still advertise it with lightning mcqueen in it, so not sure why that bit has changed :confused3

Welcome home sounds like a fantastic trip......well besides the horrid toothache....not nice. I too don the rose tinted specs!!! Lol love my Disney trips!!! Can't wait for your trippie....oops must finish mine!

Oh that sounds awful. DD loves McQueen at the moment we have seen it twice before lightening and with but I haven't ever seen them use people from the audience.

Hope it was just a one off then :)

That does sound bad :sad2:

When we watched it last Christmas (1st time with McQueen), it had changed a lot....and apart from looking good, McQueen was a real non-event.

Sounds like they've simplified things even more now :confused3

Welcome back! Sorry to hear about your tooth - I had one pulled the day before our last DLP trip so know how that is

Sounds like you had a fab time - I am always put of going in the summer after our very first trip which was in August, but it sounds like it was very managable?
Looking forward to your trip report:goodvibes

re The Stunt Show - we have been to DLP 11 times and have never seen it and it was on my ABSOLUTELY must do list for this october but it sounds like it may not be worth taking the time out of our day to do this after all?:confused3 oh well, our own fault for not watching it back in the good old days lol.

Oh I am gutted to hear about the stunt show, we went a couple of years ago, and my son LOVED seeing Mcqueen, it was my husbands favourite attraction too.

Hi Julie, sounds like you had a really wonderful holiday :goodvibes, in spite of your toothache [ouch :( ]
Devastated to hear about the stunt show....please let it just be a weather thing :worship:

I looked for your camera, but no luck i'm afraid :(

I think it needed to be simplified a bit to be honest, but not to this extent.

Yes, found summer very manageable - maybe because we've been so many times? But, Pirates was 5 min wait/walk on every time we went :thumbsup2 I would still suggest going to the stunt show if you've never been before. We have it on video from years ago and my ds knows it backwards, so that's probably why we noticed so much. But, if you've never seen it, the stunts they do show are still fantastic ::yes::

Oh I am gutted to hear about the stunt show, we went a couple of years ago, and my son LOVED seeing Mcqueen, it was my husbands favourite attraction too.

Mcqueen is still advertised on the daily schedule to be included, so I'm thinking maybe this was just a one off that he wasn't in it.

Glad you enjoyed your trip - sorry to hear you were in so much pain with your teeth.

Looking forward to reading your trip report!:goodvibes
