..and back at work today very depressed after 17 great days. Weather was fantastic, coolish first week at start and ends of days, but warm to hot between. 2nd week (Siesta Key nr Sarasota) was even better, actually HOT during days, 9-10 hours of sun every day and no rain at all for the whole break! Even the locals were remarking how lucky we/they were!:)

Lots of highs, including quality of inflight entertainment on US Airways, sightseeing around the Dis hotels (Wilderness Lodge favourite), eating at Boma and Beaches and Cream, xmas day at Epcot, Blizzard Beach on Boxing day with no lines, beaches at Siesta Key were outstanding, swimming in the Gulf on New Years Day, dolphins swimming past and near us on 3 occasions, watching pelicans diving for dinner, bald eagles, ospreys and alligators at Myakka River State Park, ..and much more! I'm determined to do a full trip rep this time and have taken loads of notes, but currently only have access to a pc during day (at work!), so intend to order one this week for home. Watch this space!!;)

Mike:)

Welcome back to Bury!!!!!!!! ;)

Looking forward to the report....by the way have you noticed my countdown. :p

When are you booking the next trip??

Craig

Welcome home - the trip sounds fabulous and you sound as if you enjoyed every minute of it :)

Can't wait to read all about it :teeth:

Thanks, guys! Craig.. genuinely no next trip plan yet.. am selfishly plotting to try and get there without the kids!(shock, horror!) and this may take a year or two to work through the details!

Mike:D

:wave2: Hi Mike - glad you all have had a great trip.

The Gulf coast is fantastic, isn't it. My DD still has a furry toy otter called Myakka, from Myakka:D We also visited Homassassa Springs up that way once - DH is a bit of a twitcher (OK then, a lot of a bird watcher) so we always get away to some beautiful wildlife.

There's so much more to Florida than just theme parks.

Looking forward to hearing more.

I wanted to eat at Boma. The african buffet. Is that what you had? If so, do you mind me asking how much was it? Did you get a PS for it? How much were drinks? How long did they give you for parking at the AKL?

Sorry in advance for being so nosey!

But at least you can be smug and suntanned! Can't wait to hear all about it.

Welcome home Mike :) - sounds like you had a great holiday!
Siesta Beach is very nice indeed and SO big!! (We were staying in Sarasota and drove to Siesta Key for a day at that beach).

Your trip sounds wonderful - where did you stay?

Hi guys.. keswick1uk .. yes we had the buffet at Boma (it's the only menu choice... drink prices were similar to other wdw restaurants, I think. The whole meal was $115, incl a generous tip. I found the choice of food excellent and the atmosphere lovely. There was no restriction on parking.. we just said we'd a PS (they didn't check any lists, either) and they waved us through. Same at Wilderness Lodge.
Shirley.. we stayed at 'Seaspray Apartments', a small cluster of buildings on Beach Road, opposite beach access no 9, about 0.6 mile south of Siesta Village..an easy wander for dinner and breakfast. The 'Broken Egg' breakfast cafe was superb!!(
