We're back, and the trip was full of Magically Magical Magic!!

See, I'm starting to think maybe in Epcot I give off a confrontational vibe that people pick up on, and just try and get me to fight! Next time I go, I'll just make a mental note that every time someone in Epcot is mean/aggressive with me, I get an extra drink in World Showcase. It's like a drinking game made just for me! You know that addage about live giving you lemons, and then you cut up that lemon and add it to some vodka and sprite...or at least that's how I remember it! :rolleyes1

LOL!!! Sounds like a good game to me....

Made it over and all caught up! What a fun trip so far!!!! We were at MNSSHP the same night :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

Aww man, it's my first missed chance to meet a fellow Diser. My next post is our second MNSSHP, so there are pics...if you saw an oversized Tink at the party, it was probably me!

Great TR so far! I can't wait to hear the rest! popcorn::

Thanks for reading and :welcome:.There are still five more days left to report on, so I hope you enjoy them...although I fear I may be flammed for my Contemporary review....:scared1:

DISCLAIMER: A TR is an opinion of one or more people. It is not meant to be (overly) offensive and I apologize in advance if you are upset by some comments in this post. I have put on my flame suit just in case.

Day 8 - September 19th

The Plan: A sad farewell to the Poly, but a happy hello to the Contemporary, plus some DTD, Liberty Tree Tavern for the last time with Characters and a second MNSSHP!!

The Reality: The night before, we made a group decision to cancel our lunch at Wolfgang Puck Cafe and instead say goodbye to the Poly in style...with Tonga Toast! So we made a late breakfast ressie and ate what we thought would be our last TT for quite a while (now we're eating there in less than a month, but that's another TR for another time). After that, we took the monorail over to the Contemporary to check in to our CLUB LEVEL room for one night, and one night only.

We were so excited to check in. How excited? This picture shows how excited!!

DSCN0235-1-1.jpg

We had a very nice checker-inner named David (just like at the Poly, only without the singing, dancing and upgrading). He checked us in downstairs at the main desk, and then escorted us up to the lounge on the 14th floor. We were told that our room was vacant and just needed to be cleaned. How great, it was, like, 10:30am!! So, we hung out in the lounge for a bit and took the following photos!

P1010161.jpg

P1010166.jpg

P1010167.jpg

After about 45 minutes, we enquired about our room. We were told it would be some time before it was available (umm, ok, different response than earlier, but ok) so we checked our carry-on bags downstairs and headed out to DTD. Mal bought some more pins, and tried Pin Trading with collectors for the first time. Her notes in her book say "not fun, too intense". Basically, one lady was nice, and the second guy was a total d*@k about things. Mal said she would just prefer to trade with cast members. After that, we went into the WOD and then used up some snack credits at Goofy's. Here's what we made!!

P1010205.jpg

So, the Mickey treat that is buried under all that goodness, that came home with me. And I ate it every day for 6 days before it was gone. GREAT use of a snack credit!!

P1010206.jpg

These also came home with me, but my mom inhaled them in one sitting. Still, it could be like three snacks for the price of one, unless you’re with someone who loves chocolate covered pretzels the way my mom does. Then you place those pretzels on a table and move slowly away so as not to distract the hunter from its prey.

We then caught a bus back to the Contemporary since we wanted to make sure we got to swim in the pool, explore the hotel and have time to get ready for MNSSHP#2. We got back around 1:30, and Mal was stoked to get to use the key to get up to our level. Here's a pic...

P1010170.jpg

We still had to wait a bit more for our room, so we sat in the lounge and grazed on some free snacks! Wanna see?

I know, I know, we literally took pics of everything.

Finally, our room was ready. When we booked, there was only a king bed room available, which was fine, since it was for one night and I knew from the floor plan I found on Dis it meant we were guaranteed a MK view. So we were expecting some crazy awesomeness, it being CL and all. We open our door to see...

P1010197.jpg

Now, I'm not sure if the pictures really convey this, but our room was SMALL. The bathroom was a good size, but the room, no joke, felt about the same size as our rooms at POP, if that. And it was dirty. Not, like, dirty towels, but the walls were dirty, scuffed, wall paper torn, and floors were dirty and dusty. The bathroom door didn't actually close, and the handle on the second shower (the one with no tub) was falling off. Basically, it's the worst room that I've even been in on Disney property. We were sooooo disappointed. Now, I know, we were in the Contemporary, and we were happy, but even at 40% off, our room was almost 400.00. Crazy, but it was a once in a lifetime thing, so we went for it. And still, thinking about that room makes me sad.

~Continued in next post...I went over my image allowance!~

~Continued~

The view, however, was crazy awesome. And our balcony was ginormous! Check out these pics.

P1010180.jpg

P1010185.jpg

We stopped taking pics at some point and got dressed to go and swim! We donned our free robes and strutted down to the pool. There are no pics of this because, well, we were in spandex suits, and no one needs to see that. It was here that we noticed that the pool was also dirty. There were leaves in it everywhere, which was odd, since there were very few trees, and they weren't really near the pool. Mal pointed out this strangeness, since the pool at the Poly is surrounded by vegetation, and we never saw any leaves in the pool there. While she noticed this, I noticed that there were quite a few birds lurking around the back of our hotel. And by quite a few, I mean hundreds. I suddenly flashed to that scene in The Birds where the lady in the diner is freaking out on Melanie, saying "Why are they doing this? Why are they doing this? They said when you got here the whole thing started. Who are you? What are you? Where did you come from! I think you're evil. EVIL!" And....that was it, I was done relaxing in the pool, I wanted the security of a big giant building between me and the crazy amounts of birds!! That and we needed to get ready for the party.

I guess overall, Mal and I were pretty disappointed with our stay. Everything seemed dirty, our room was small, and the fact that they took about 5 hours to get our room ready, even though they knew we were there irked me a tiny bit. I know that check in isn't until 3, but still. Maybe I just expected some better treatment from the Club Level.

We up, up and awayed in the fastest elevator I've even been on (my ears popped every time!) and showered and got dressed in record time. Before we knew it, we were once again traipsing through the MK in costume, this time on the way to LTT for dinner. As always, the food was great, and oddly enough, we sat at the same table as last year. But the character interaction was phenomenal. OMG, so good. We got to meet Goofy, Minnie, Chip, Dale and Pluto, and they were all in something Halloweeny. Here's the picture portion...

P1010216.jpg

P1010218.jpg

P1010236.jpg

After dinner, I ran up to use the ladies room, and when I came back, discovered that Chip was trying to escape out the door behind our table.

P1010238.jpg

What was even funnier was that his "handler" was telling him to stop being so naughty!

P1010239.jpg

And every time his handler was mean, Chip would throw himself onto me for comfort. Like this...

P1010240.jpg

And like this...

P1010242.jpg

Then, Pluto came over, and tried to steal his apron!

P1010243.jpg

Pluto was pointing at him, and motioning that he was going to "get Chip", and then he really did take the apron right off of him! That started a total war between the two, they were making faces at each other, and Chip was wagging his butt at Pluto, it was hilarious. Our entire room was cracking up, and people were peering in to see what all the fun was about.

P1010246.jpg

It was a really great last meal at LTT, and one that will be sorely missed.

After dinner, we went over to meet Minnie and Mickey in their costumes, since we'd missed that at the first party (the lines were L-O-N-G by the time we got over there the first time, so it was our first stop this time). Here's Minnie looking all cute (as usual)...

P1010247.jpg

And Mal must have the photos of Mickey.

DSCN0262-1.jpg

After that, we foolishly decided to give Astro Orbitor another go. NO, we did not ride in the same spaceship again. The end result...without the distraction of panic and laughter, that ride spins a bit too fast for my liking.

This pic of Mal on the AO sums up how I feel about it...

DSCN0274-1.jpg

From there, we went over to Adventureland to ride Pirates, and on the way, one of Mal's dreams came true. She met Abu!!! And apparently, this is yet another photo still on Mal's computer. Sheish.

And a recreation pic attempt of my DisBoards idol...who recognizes this concept?

P1010255.jpg

We watched the parade two times, here are some shots...

P1010258.jpg

Quick question....has anyone EVER met Kanga? Apparently, I met Rabbit once a few years ago. I have no memory, but a picture that proves I did. I love to meet them both. And Christopher Robin. Who is this Darby chick anyway?

We ended up with SO MUCH candy. As in, I still have some. Oh, and my last snack credits were also used during the party, for a mint smoothie and a caramel apple. Did you know they'll cut them into slices for you? We munched on those during the second parade; it made it way easier to eat.

And so ends Day 8. It was long and disappointing at times, but as always the Party rocked!!!

Up Next - Day 9. Free continental breakie (thanks CL!), a backstage safari and the GF!! Plus some random characters, a room like a sauna and yours truly is sick in a park for the first time since she was 4. And most importantly, Mal and I consume an entire cow. Stay tuned!!

Thanks for reading and :welcome:.There are still five more days left to report on, so I hope you enjoy them...although I fear I may be flammed for my Contemporary review....:scared1:

I won't flame you...The Contemporary just doesn't really impress me and my dh. I used to love it when I was a kid because the monorail ran through it but for some reason the novelty has worn off on me. Out of all the resorts in Disney, the Contemporary is one we really don't care so much about. This is just my opinion though. There are alot of people who love it! That's what I love about the variety of Disney...there's something for everyone. ;)

Wow! I'm sorry you guys were so disappointed in the Contemporary! It truely sounds awful! Why pay all that for a dirty, yucky room!? But, that VIEW!!! HOLY MOLY!!!

I have put on my flame suit just in case

Are there pictures of it?

Oh my! I think my hips expanded just looking at them. I never realized you could do that before. I am soooo going to make some this next trip.

Me too. Hopefully they will kick it up a notch again.

Freaky!

Shame it's losing it's characters. Love the pics of Chip hugging you for dear life.

Can't wait to hear more!!

I live not that far from Windsor. I live near Hawkesbury ;)

Wow...sorry to hear that the Contemporary was so bad. Guess I won't feel bad about not being able to afford it ;)

See, I've ALWAYS wanted to stay there. It's just so iconic and Disney. But I was so happy to check out of that place, it was crazy. But you are right, there are people who love it to bits, and that's great, because it keeps them out of the hotels I love when I need to book a room. :thumbsup2

Wow! I'm sorry you guys were so disappointed in the Contemporary! It truely sounds awful! Why pay all that for a dirty, yucky room!? But, that VIEW!!! HOLY MOLY!!!

Mal and I both decided that only the Contemporary should be able to boast a MK View. The Poly and the GF should have to call it a Castle View. We spent a good 20 minutes on our balcony going "Look, it's BTMRR" and "OMG, we can see the ENTIRE PARK from here!!". The view was awesome!! Although now that I think about it, for a fraction of the cost of staying in a MK View at the Cont, you could just go have appies and drinks at the Cali Grill....

Are there pictures of it?

Oh my! I think my hips expanded just looking at them. I never realized you could do that before. I am soooo going to make some this next trip.

No pics of the flame suit, my friends are shocked I'm even posting pics on here, I hate, hate, hate pictures of myself. But I'll tell you, the flame suit pic would be one sexy pic. :rotfl2:

Be prepared to eat your mickey treat with a fork and knife. I totally love Goofy's for this reason. I should have taken a pic once I'd had a bite, so you could see that the chocolate and caramel goodness was about 1/2 inch thick.

Yeah, I'll miss the characters. I seemed quite popular, but I'll just have to hope that Disney knows best.

Can't wait to hear more!!

I live not that far from Windsor. I live near Hawkesbury ;)

Yeah, not that far if we're using Nova Scotia as comparison!! :rotfl: I guess since we're in the same province, it can count as close. ;) And welcome to my TR!!

Wow...sorry to hear that the Contemporary was so bad. Guess I won't feel bad about not being able to afford it ;)

See, I was going to be a bit less honest, but then I thought, OMG, what if someone reads my review and then shells out the money to stay there and is disappointed? All I could think while we were there was, for this amount of money, we could have stayed at the Poly for another 2 nights. Heck, we could have stayed at Pop for what, a week? But I'm glad we did it, because now when I look at the Contemporary, I know I've tried it, and apparently tried the best it has to offer, and it just wasn't for me.

hehehe

I live on the Quebec side.

But it's not THAT far ;) I had friends who lived there hehehe That's why it's not that far to me hehehe

You got me excited about trying the food at the Kona Cafe.

We might get a ressie for breakfast and lunch.

OMG, Kona was so good. And the great thing was, we were on the dining plan. And at breakfast you get two drinks. So we had our meal with their Lilikoi Juice, and then got a smoothie to go after we were done, so we had something to drink after as well! We never managed to eat there for anything besides breakfast, but I've read good reviews for the other offerings as well. You'll love it for sure!

You will looooooooooove MVMCP! I got to live my dream last year and go during the holiday season.

Make sure to go on rides too.

We walked on Pirates of the Carribean and were practically walking by ourselves in Adventureland after. Great memories!

Hopefully it won't be too cold. It was hot that day. Then the folowwing days were cold! We wished we had our winter coats ;)

Day 9 - September 20th

The Plan: Check out of Contemporary, AK concierge level tour, GF check in and B&C for dinner!

The Reality: Woke up early, grabbed free breakfast in the lounge (and pocketed some Smuckers uncrustables for later) and then said "Adios" to the Contemporary. We checked all our luggage this time, instead of bringing our carry-ons over ourselves, so we caught our bus over to the AK pretty quick. We were both really excited for the behind the scene's tour, and while we were walking to the check-in point by the safari, I got this wicked pain in both my legs. Like the worst charley horses ever, in both calves at the same time!!! Now, while I'm overweight, I actually eat a lot of fruits at home. It's this thing with my family, we crave potassium, and I had been totally neglecting my intake of bananas. So, I just tried to keep walking, since really, it's just a muscle spasm, but my goodness, it sucked. We got to the check in place, and while Mal checked us in, I went and "lost" my free breakfast in the nearby bathroom. Fortunatly, we were early, and I managed to stretch out my legs before the tour began.

As for the tour itself, it was AWESOME. We were taken backstage and loaded onto this open air buses that had really comfy seats, and the ability to stand to take pictures during our safari. We mostly followed the track for the ride, but were able to pull off at some points for better pictues, or stop to get some really good shots of the animals. Plus, we had a guide pointing out the animals, and explaining things about the park. It was totally worth it, and if you love the safari ride at AK, I suggest the tour if it's available to you. Buckle up for LOTS of animal photos. Or just scroll down past them, it's ok, I don't mind!

P1010349.jpg

Ok, enough already! After the tour was over, we were given FPs to ride later at any time in the day on the actual Safari ride, which was pretty cool. We did a few more attractions, and then went to see who was at Camp Minnie Mickey, where we met Safari Daisy as well as Kenai and Koda. We ate at Pizzafari and then did Dinosaur again, as well as the Nemo show. Mal went and did Kali Rapids while I did Bug's Life (I have a thing about being wet in clothing) and then we went to go check in at the GF!!!

Well, check in was fabulous. The staff at the GF was amazing, and we ended up with our room request for a dormer room in the building Sago Cay. Let me tell you, I can't imagine a better location or room. We were steps from Gasparilla, the boat dock and the main building for access to the Monorail. And, since the marina was right there, we could run down and get the perfect view of Wishes at night. And we could see the monorail from our room (so we REALLY made sure we closed those blinds good!). Here's some pics!

Isn't the room beautiful? After our usual gambit of running around taking pics like mad, Mal and I sat down to watch our usual "Brotherhood" and have some snacks. Here's Mal snacking on the bed! Look how unimpressed with me she is in the second photo.

P1010369.jpg

P1010370.jpg

That's when we noticed it was pretty warm, and not just from all the running around. I went to go turn the air conditioner down, and saw....

P1010367.jpg

Yes, that does say 88. :scared1: And after 25 minutes, it still said 88. So, while Mal napped (it was that hot) a nice man came right up to the room to fix the air conditioner. Mal woke up to a man on a ladder at the foot of her bed and two nice maids giving me complementary turn down service! :lmao: Once the air kicked in, we felt revitalized and decided to do some shopping rounds on the monorail line. Mal was trying to get shot glasses for her mom from all the hotels we stayed at, so we checked first at the Contemporary. No shot glass. Strike 17 Contemporary!! I'm just kidding....:rolleyes1

After that, we went to the Poly, where I picked up a pin for my cousin and Mal got some cute Poly style mickey ears on sale. We went down to the bus stop at the Poly to catch a bus over to MGM so we could go to B&C, but after a 15 minute wait, we (gasp) decided to just have a lazy night and eat in the room!

We went back to our hotel, where Mal found a GF shot glass and pin (she's crazy about her pins!) and we grabbed our refillable cups and headed down to Gaspirilla. It was then that Mal and I apparently decided we should consume an entire cow. We each ordered a double cheeseburger with fries, and then sat down while I order was filled. If you've never eaten there before, their CS is great. You order and are given a beeper. You can then go pay, grab a table and your condiments, fill your cup, etc and they buzz you when your order is ready. So awesome! Mal's buzzer went off, and when she collected her food, she was given two burgers with fries. Then I buzzed, and was given my burger with fries. Since we were basically told that the extra food would be thrown out, we took it with us back to our room. And proceeded to eat ALL OF IT. I think this amount of food needs a visual.

P1010385.jpg

P1010386.jpg

I'm shaking my head at myself just typing this. It's enough food for a family of 5!!! Clearly, after consuming that much food, Mal and I just lazed around in our beds and eventually just went to sleep.

I feel compelled to add that this night, we were too lazy to watch Wishes. So, we were in our room around 8:30 when the fireworks started. How odd, we though, Wishes is early? Then, about 15 minutes later, when fireworks were STILL HAPPENING, we wondered what was happening. Not enough to get out of our PJs and wander down, but we were quite curious. As it turns out, there was some sort of company fireworks that night. Then Wishes happened. Apparently, it was the greatest fireworks showing ever. This is why it NEVER PAYS to be lazy in Disney. Except when you're cutting through Innoventions and you win a DFP. But that is the only exception. I'm still kinda bummed we missed them.

That's it for Day 9, up next we have day 10, double digits at Disney!! We have Scream Fest at TL, I get closer to a lifeguard than I'd like, we swim at the GF, our first (and last) time at PI and laugh fest Chuck Norris style. Stay tuned!

Oh, and since I have my pics from Mal now, here are a few that actually belong in Part 1 of this post, but I'm maxed out on pics in that one.

OMG, I'm so excited to meet Scrooge. It's actually one of the reasons we're going. Like, honest to God, one of the deciding factors as to whether we should go or not. And we're going to a party on a Thursday, so if it's super great, we may go to one the next night spur of the moment. I really am an addict!! I'm hoping that the weather is cool, I've only been in sweltering heat for the last few years, and the need for a sweater would be a most welcome change. I'm glad you got to go last year during the Holiday season, I'm sure it just makes Disney extra magical!
