Any idea what the heck is pavlova made out of? Tasted just like sugar. :cloud9:

Subscribing! Great pics! :)

Thank you! :goodvibes

Kona does look good. I may have to try that one. :)

Yes I guess Kona is still a bit of a hidden gem. Every time we go there they are still accepting walk ins. Don't let the secret get out!

enjoying your reviews (and the loverly food porn...yum!) Thanks for the Kona Cafe pictures - we'll be there in about 4 weeks!

yep - that's exactly what pavolva is made from - sugar. It is whisked egg whites with sugar added. whack in oven to dry out. Load with fruit and whipped cream. make them all the time - I'm Australian so it's compulsory :thumbsup2

Let the NZ debate begin. :cool1:

Yikes I missed the start of this!

Great reviews so far!Thank you! :goodvibes Can't wait for more! popcorn::

Alright, the much awaited Wishes Dessert Party. We were let into the dessert party at 9 for the 10:00 fireworks. As many people have been asking on the boards, you don't have a very good view of Spectromagic from here. So, we were brought to our table which was right up front, seems the parties of two are more likely to get tables in the front.

Heres the view of the castle from our seats.

I was stuffed but the second I went up to the buffet, I had to have one of almost everything. I grabbed a rice krispy treat, cheesecake, mango shooters, chocolate covered strawberries, pistachio creme brulee, chocolate peanut butter tart, chocolate banana tart. The mango shooters were my favorite. The tarts were kind of bland, not that great. The cheesecake was the worst. Blegh! It was gross.

DH grabbed mango shooters, pistachio creme brulee, tiramisu, chocolate truffles, and a fruit tart, and hidden behind one of the shooters was a chocolate covered strawberry. He ate everything, loved all of it! He went back up for a second plate. I couldn't eat another bite after all that!

His second plate consisted of mostly mango shooters.

The desserts were plentiful and the buffet was constantly refreshed. It also seemed like it was ten o'clock and time for Wishes in no time at all. DH and I walked up to the railing for a better view and to make sure nobody stood in front of us. Many people stayed seated however and they were still able to see. The view was great from the Terrace. We left almost immediately after the fireworks ended so I'm not sure when the desserts were cleaned up. We would probably not do this party again as the desserts probably weren't worth the money you spend, but the view itself and the fact that you don't have to stand around for an hour for a good spot might be worth the money.

Up next...Kona again, this time for some Tonga Toast! :goodvibes

Thanks for all the great reviews and pictures! We are doing the desert party in a couple weeks...can't wait.

Kona is one of our favorite spots for breakfast. Bring on the Tonga Toast! Heres DH anxiously waiting for breakfast in his new monorail shirt. He was so excited about this. haha

I of course did get the Tonga Toast as my entree. With the DxDP you also get two drinks with breakfast, so I got lilikoi juice :cloud9: and the mega berry smoothie. These two drinks are almost as good as the Tonga Toast. The mega berry smoothie is supposed to have antioxidants in it as well.

DH decided to try something different this time. For his drink he just got coffee and for his meal, he got the somoan which was poached eggs with hollandaise served over smoked pulled pork hash. Again, he loves hash, I'm not so crazy about it. He ended up loving this dish, though not as much as the Tonga Toast. He ended up eating the rest of mine that I could not finish (because man that toast is huge!), so he had the best of both worlds. :thumbsup2

Right after we were done eating breakfast guess what we were brought again?

and once again we were too full to finish it. It was a nice gesture though. Service was fast and our waitress was great. Breakfast here was fantastic as always.

Total-$34.03 DxDP-2 TS Credits
