Got back about 1pm, had a wee sleep and now trying to find the will to unpack!

Had a great 3 and a half weeks and hope to return in 2010.

Here are some highs and lows:

HIGHS

Basically everything but include:
Flight (except missing the connection).
Hotels.
Weather.
Hot Air Balloon Ride.
Dine with Shamu.
Deep Shark Dive.
Cirque du Soleil.
Wantilan Luau at the Royal Pacific Resort.
Sitting up front with the Monorail Driver.
NFL Game at Jacksonville.
MNSSHP night number 1 (number 2 was a wash out).
Coming back with 4KG of candy from MNSSHP!!!
Using up all 20 Table service credits, only leaving 4 counter service credits and 3 snack credits!
Losing a stone in 3 weeks before the holiday, coming back to find that i've lost a further 2 and a half lbs!
Having to buy extra suitcases for the goodies!

LOWS

Missing our connecting flight and having to wait 7 hours for the next one, we didn't get to the hotel until 1am (but the Continental guy really helped us out with food vouchers and calling the hotel and car hire people to let them know we would be very late).

DH and I getting really badly sunburnt at Typhoon Lagoon and it hindered us for a few days (but I enjoyed picking the skin off!).

That's it for now, hopefully will get a trip report organised once we're back into the swing of things but for now :laundy:

Welcome back Paula-Jane. It sounds like you've had a great time, and I look forward to hearing more about it (except for the picking off of your sunburnt skin - Ewww :rotfl2: ) ::yes::

Sounds like you had a fab time, welcome back! Are you going to write a report on your hols?

Just out of interest, how do you stand if you miss your connection, do you have to pay for another one? Take insurance out for missed flights??

Welcome home Paula-Jane. Sounds as though you had a fantastic time. Always nice to have more highs than lows. I look forward to reading your trippie.

Hi,

They just got us onto the next available flight, there were 2 after ours but they were choc full so the next available one was 7 hours later! We didn't pay anything and we phoned our hotel and car hire to let them know we would be late and the guy at continental gave us vouchers for food at any of the eateries in the airport valued at $12 each so we had a very nice meal.

The connection time was only 1 and a half hours and it took that long to get off the plane, get through security, collect our bags and put them back through. They gave me this connection time so I figured we would be okay but in future I will make it 3 hours to get through!

Welcome back!

We had the same connection time in Newark last December, it was really tight and I was paniking and running round like a headless chicken with the kids and all of our stuff. We have a 3hr 20min connection this year so I think that will be a lot more manageable - we may even get time to go for a pee! :teeth:

welcome home, so glad you had a lovely time, when I booked for Christmas we had a two and a half hour connection time, Continental have now changed our flight giving us just an hour and a half, it makes me very nervous !!

Hiya,

If we go with them again I will make sure we get the 3 hour window but experienced travellers will probably not have a problem. Our plane was slightly late getting in but because we were at the back of the plane it took forever for us to get out and then when we got to immigration the queue was already huge and then we had to get the luggage and take it back up and then some numnut told us to go to the Continental desk to get boarding cards (which I aready had) so by the time we got to the desk we had so missed our plane and then I burst out crying when she said 7 hours before we could get the next plane, poor DH was trying to keep me calm which of course made it worse!

Also, we'd never gone this way before so didn't know where anything was or what to do but now that we've done it I hope to go this way again but I will still try to get the 3 hour window.
