DAY TEN
Saturday November 20, 2010
Well today was our last official vacation day and again another fairly kick back day. Originally on our schedule this day was left open but we kind of had some ideas of what we might want to do. We had originally pondered going to Cape Canaveral but mom didn't want to do that and the girls have been bugging me for years to go to one of the water parks and although I despise water (nearly drowned at 16) I decided that it would be fun to do that. I only wish we had made up our minds ahead of time cuz it would have been MUCH cheaper had we added that option to our existing tickets but so be it.
We decided to go to Blizzard Beach because that was our only option. Although we very much enjoyed it we really would have preferred Typhoon Lagoon but it was down on rehab. Needless to say we drove to BB and the place was practically desserted. One of the perks I guess of going in the "off" season. We could have "rented" towels but they had all their nice towels on sale 50% off and since my girls are on swim team and we can NEVER have enough nice towels we each bought one. We then found a nice place to sit and the girls immediately took off. I wasn't sure if they would be brave enough to tackle the really huge slides but they did. They got on the chairlift and they both did Summit Plummet! This is a HUGE slide that you can only get to by riding a chair lift! After seeing Katy's face I knew she was pretty scared and would NOT be doing that one again but Shelby loved it and did it a few more times. They did a few of the other medium sized ones as well as most of the others and mom and I stuck to the baby ones LOL. Like I said I have a HUGE fear of water from nearly drowning and don't like my head going under AT ALL! We stuck to the lazy river and did do the family raft ride which is a lot of fun but the name escapes me. It is a large raft that goes down a shoot that you also must access from the chair lifts. I think it was teamboat springs. We then tried the wave pool and that sucker is strong! Mom immediately got knocked over and could NOT get back up. We were laughing so hard that that didn't help either. We were getting dragged all over that pool from the force of the waves so we opted to go back to our lovely lazy river. We had lunch there and an ice cream a bit later and left around 3 so that we could get showered and changed and head to ICE.
This is also something I had wanted to do since the last time. They have an ice sculpture show at one of the local hotels called the Gaylord Palms and it sounded really neat.
So we got all cleaned up and headed over. It is REALLY neat but VERY cold. We checked that out but made the mistake of NOT having a dinner ressie and we tried to get one at the hotel but all we could get was one at 9 and it was only 5! So we wandered around the hotel and watched a holiday concert and I must say that is ONE cool hotel! They have all kinds of cool stuff there but I just couldn't wait any longer to eat. We were all starving and tired so we left. We ended up just getting take out and going back to the room.
Other than the screw up with dinner it was a really fun last day!!
I wasn't able to get any pics at BB cuz I didn't take my camera but I got a few at Ice.
