Were any of Your Grandparents able to attend your wedding?

Both of my grandmothers were at my wedding. One of my grandfathers died before I was born, and the other passed away when I was 2.

DH's grandma was at his wedding. His grandfather died long before he was born. The grandparents on his father's side weren't in good enough health to travel to FL (they live in NV). DH was very close to his great-grandparents. His great-grandfather died around 9 months before our wedding, but his great-grandmother was able to come. DH was so thrilled that she was there.

My grandmother came to my wedding (though it was very hard on her) and her sister flew all the way from Australia to Disney world to attend
i love that they both made the trip…they where very determined to come and after told me they both thought it would be the last chance to see each other…they where right … I’ve since lost them both...I'll always be greatful they made the trip

My maternal grandfather died when I was 5, my paternal grandmother died when I was 12, and my parternal grandfather died when my father was only 17, I only had one surviving grandparent I could even invite to my wedding. My grandma did attend - she drove down with my aunt and uncle from NJ to VA.

My DH had lost his paternal grandfather when he was 10 or 11, and his maternal grandmother was suffering from Alzheimer/dementia, so she didn't attend, but his other 2 grandparents were invited and did attend. His maternal grandfather drove up from FL, and his paternal grandmother was escorted by DH's aunt & uncle.

I had one other relative who was sort of a surrogate grandmother, but she died shortly before we got married. My NJ uncle offered to bring her down with his family, which was very sweet since she is of no relation to her. Before she died, she sent my dad a wedding card and gift for DH and I, which seriously made me cry.

None of the grandparents on either side (mine or DH's) attended, unfortunately they were all gone. My paternal grandmother passed away when my dad was in college, my paternal grandfather passed away when I was about 3. My maternal grandmother also passed away before I was born, my maternal grandfather passed away when I was in college. I think y step-grandmother passed away before I got married or was unable to attend. DH's maternal grandfather passed away in the '40s, I think his maternal grandmother passed away when he was a kid. I'm not sure when his paternal grandmother died, but his paternal grandfather died when we had just started going together - I was always sorry I never met the man.

agnes!

My grandmother was there, and DH's grandfather performed the ceremony (at the ripe old age of 96!)
