See, and I don't think Disney would want to hit the public on sale date with nothing to sell.

I don't think it's a matter of holding points BACK from current members as it is ensuring that Disney has product to sell to EVERYONE (remember, current members can still buy after the public on sale date). And the fact they may want to only sell a certain number of points at a discount.

Anyway, here's hoping Tony will chime in and clarify......I'd just be really surprised if 35k points is IT until the new building OPENS. And I wouldn't understand why...

Can't reach my guide or sources. This is a question for WMD, Dean, Dr. P. Cask Bill or assorted Carols and Cats.

I think points are tied to specific buildings (at the other resorts) and a 'released' when certain conditions are met (Building started/completed????)

In the past with SSR, there were times only specific UYs were available, and that was related to which buildings were declaired. (I think it relates to Property taxes assigned to the buildings.....)

So I can't clarify what happens when the 35,000 points are gone. They can not oversell more points than accomidations (I believe).

That's the info I just got from my guide 10 minutes ago when I called in my request to purchase AKV.

They can and have "presold" buildings however. So yes, if they are out of points in completed buildings they will give you "developer" points or a discount and you don't get your point until XYZ date. However, in that case I don't think you start paying until the building is "avaialble" so that might not be bad.

Everyone's excitement was so contagious that after reading Greenban thread I called my guide an added 28 pts. I know its small but I would only use them for the unwind portion of my BWV stays. Seems like sitting on the balcony watching animals would be a very restful thing to do before rentering the work week. Congrats to eveyone buying in today. Joan

As long as the purchase is done between 2/1 and 2/28, your name will be on the tapestry, so you are a Founding Member! I also purchased this morning for the 150. I can not wait to call and make reservations.

We received the brochure today. Even though the 150 first member quota was mentioned on the disboards, apparently that is incorrect. Founding Member privilege is valid until some time in late February. Unfortunately, we absolutely do not need, nor can we afford, an extra 150 points.

Found the invitation in the mail today when I got home from work! When DH got home half an hour later, we called and our guide just happened to be working late, so we added on our 150 points. She also told us we're on the tapestry - woohoo!

We usually go in late October for Food & Wine, but have a cruise this summer, so we haven't booked anything. We may do a short trip then, but more likely our first stay at AKV will be next May.
