Must say I was sooooo disappointed! I knew from everyone on here it needed so help...I picked up 2 12x12 kits. I really like the paper in one but the other is just ok. I bought some stickers but I didn't really care for the drabness of them!
Oh well! Maybe in the future it will improve! I have hope!

I know exactly what you mean. Maybe we scrappers are a spoiled bunch because we're used to such neat things? :teeth: But I really expected more from Disney! I think they need to hire *true* scrappers to design things for them ... the people behind their current products just can't be scrappers!!

Can you possibly list prices on some of the items that you purchased? I am trying to decide if it is worth the trip.

If you are going to the parks you can see the items that the Scrapbook store at DTD carries. It isn't worth a special trip because you can get the same things in the Parks or at the World of Disney store also.

Prices, off the top of my head:
12x12 kit which had pieces of paper die cuts and stickers was $15 the 8x10 kits were $12
the small sticker kit which had some die cuts in it were about $8.

When I was in Disney about 3 years ago, I bought those postcards shaped like Pooh, Tigger, Minnie, Mickey and the Castle. They are pretty much large die cuts. I know WDW still sells them (look by the postcards), but now that us scrapbookers buy them, they raised the price to $3.00 a card; I think I had paid $1.75 for each.

Hey Spinning, which kits did you pick up? Friend brought back a few the beginning of March for the two of us and I really like them.

I had her pick up the Mickey & Minnie Romance kit for me and she picked up the one with the 4 parks for herself. I thought they were both great. In the M&M Romance kit I especially liked the paper that had M&M on a ship and at a table in a tropical setting. The colors are quite muted but I rather liked that because so often everything in these settings get so bright and hot - nice eye rest. Guess everyone has different opinions. :)

I was also underwhelmed. The only thing I thought was cool was the board they had that listed the states- each person who made a purchase told the CM where they were from and they put a marker by your state--I was #2 for Oregon that day. Anyway, the other posters are exactly right- EVERYTHING in that store can be found elsewhere- in the parks, in the hotels. In fact, they didn't have some stickers I had seen at the MK and I had counted on just being able to buy everything in that scrapbook store. Instead I had to backtrack to the MK- then they were sold out, so luckily I found them at the Writer's Shop in MGM. I mean, if you're at DtD & have oodles of time, check it out, but you will find the same selection at World of Disney. As far as costs go, I bought several little sticker strips, and they ranged from $1.50 to $3.00, and I bought a roll of park stickers (a roll for each park) for $6. This is what I found at the Writer's Shop. The scrapbook store had the same boxes, but with Mickey, or Tinkerbell or Pooh and friends. They had small, medium and large diecut packs that also had paper. I didn't buy any of these, but my mom did and she gave me one of the diecuts. I think the 12x12 packs were $15??

We were at WDW in Jan and I was underwhelmed, too. I did buy a couple packs of stickers, but that was it. We didn't go into the parks on that visit, but I am taking DS in couple of weeks and would like to check out the stores in the parks. Can someone post a list of the shops and where they are located? (ie, Fantasyland, by ToT, etc)

I have to agree Spinning, I was expecting more for a Disney scrapbook store, but was disappointed too! I wish they would get something new, something that can only be found in that store! I agree about the paper too, it is very drab, IMO...they need something new and exciting as far as paper goes...and the stickers can be found anywhere on property...

Maybe when I go in August, there will be something new? One can hope! :)

I was TOTALLY underwhelmed with all the scrapping stuff offered by Disney...I did pick up one kit and a couple of packs of the stickers, but I don't know if I'll even ever use them...they just seem so cheesy. I mean, clear stickers even would have been nice. Maybe by our next trip next March they'll have more to offer.

I wonder if we sent some of our comments to the "powers that be" at Disney purchasing we might see some improvement on their products.

They are supposed to have them in place by CKU in June....so keep watching!

I think they were marketing to the general public more than scrappers before. Hopefully that will change.

I do like some of the stickers and have used them with some success. The paper is a little small...at least the ones I have. I am looking forward to seeing what's new.

I like the challenge of using what they have!

The only store I wanted to go to at Downtown Disney was the scrapbook store and I was so disappointed in the selection and quality of merchandise available. I did get a 12x12 album which is nice, but the $15 scrapbook paper/sticker pack I bought was a total bust. The paper is ugly and the stickers consisted of 3 pages of the same thing - mostly "2003" stickers. How many times do you need to use a 2003 sticker in the same album?! The downtown disney brochure makes this store sound wonderful - it talks about how they are there to teach you the latest techniques, etc. NOT! The CMs were clueless and didn't even know what was in each of the kits. This store is a total waist of time. I could have gotten the scrapbook at any of the parks.

Thanks for the replies. That was the only reason I was going to Downtown Disney. You saved me a trip!

I wrote to Disney on their website email about how much help the new scrapbook store needed and gave them some specific ideas about things they should be carrying.

I got back a form email saying they couldn't accept solicitations from vendors. Huh? I don't think an actual person even read my email, I think they have some sort of software that detected the brand names I mentioned in my email and assumed I was trying to sell them something!

I hope they do get a clue, I was in that store yesterday and it is still lame. There are such possibilities, it is a shame it is not better than that!
