and WOW, the store looked fantastic! I felt like I was in an upscale department store. I had to return a large number of too large outfits for my grandson. The customer service person was wonderful and very patient. Seems like Ullman is on the right track. I hope it's not too late.

I love the fresh clean look it now has. They clearly realized what a mistake they made in hiring that other person.

It's amazing how the 2 men had such different visions of the stores. The seocnd guy had JC Penney looking like a run down Dollar Store.

Our Penney's has changed two of the four departments I shop in too much!!! The juniors department has reduced their choices way too much. Not enough dressier clothing. Not enough different styles.

Its like "ok right now they are going to buy jeans and sweaters and ugly t-shirts so that is the only things we will stock".

Penney's has always been dd's go to place for clothes. Not so much now. We go there first but doesn't take but a minute and we are off to another store.

For older dgd, ds used to get all her clothes there. She is only 4 but wears a 6x. I was going to get her some things on Black Friday, could not find anything for her. It either looked low quality or looked like something for a much older child.

Our JCP has definitely come a long way too. It's no longer dingy and worn down, but bright and airy, and I've actually been doing quite a bit of my own clothes shopping in there. I adore the new Joe Fresh line!

I think it looks nice to walk through but I don't shop there too much anymore. The Jr. dept is half the size it was and the boys 8-20 is about 1/4 of the size it once was. Now they have these areas set up with stuff that nobody buys because its the same stuff sitting there week after week and even when its clearanced out.
I did use a coupon they sent me, got dd a sweater for $4, but I had to search and search for something to use it on.

I agree. The store looks nice, but the lack of decent quality clothes hasn't changed. We don't even bother looking in there anymore. We walk through the store to get to the rest of the mall.

Its nice to hear that someones Penney's is better. The closest one to us is awful! We shopped there quite a bit before all the big changes started but now we very rarely venture through the doors.

Black Friday my daughter and I decided to give them a try. We walked the entire store. Poor selection of stock, dirty, low quality - I can honestly say I have been in much better Dollar Stores.

I hate the way ours is now. It looks very nice... but the selection stinks. As far as I can tell, the "upscale" look is based around huge branded displays and signage with very little space for merchandise, and by only stocking a narrow range of sizes accompanied by signage that expanded size selections are available online. I don't want to buy jeans online and hassle with shipping and returns when they don't fit. I want to walk into a store, find several styles in my size, try them on, and only buy the ones I like! And the home section is no better - lots of trendy displays and everything I'd need if I suddenly had an urge to decorate my entire house in turquoise plastic and chrome, but the classic items like their formerly wide selection of window treatments are all online only now.

Totally agree. Our store is small but the choice of clothes they have for dd's size (10-12) results in about 3 racks of clothes. Two which are not appropriate for her age - low cut, off the shoulder, etc. I have asked the manager several times when they are going to expand this size. He keeps saying hopefully soon. They have tons for babies and toddlers, the teenage selection is pretty good too. I used to get all of dd's clothes Pennys but not recently.

This is what disappoints me the most. I never did a ton of clothing shopping in JCP but I did quite a bit of home shopping there, especially curtains.

I agree the store looks brighter and fresher, but there's nothing left in it worth selling. My husband and son shopped there quite a bit, neither can find much anymore. The plus women's section rivals the quality of a Family Dollar now, with some basic flower tops and gaudy dresses.

I really want JCP to survive, but I think they are too far gone.

I shopped at Penney's today too and had great luck! I have done most of my own clothes shopping there recently. The selection has been great and the prices too!

The JC Penney store I went to yesterday had tons of beautiful merchandise. The dinnerware, kitchen items, clothing, accessories, etc. I could not believe my eyes. In fact, I'm going back on Monday. I had my baby grandson with me on Friday and didn't want to dawdle as it was getting close to his lunch bottle.
Hoping your store gets the nice things.

Ours too. Women's plus is two racks of ugly, gaudy crap in a corner. Last time I looked they had lime green skinny jeans in my size (a size that should NOT be wearing skinny jeans) but no basic denim at all. :confused3 I'm surprised they bother with a plus dept at all, given what little they have back there, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it disappear entirely (become online only like Old Navy?) in the near future.

It feels like they're not quite sure what their target market is. Ours feels like someone crammed together Justice, Abercrombie, and Sephora into one space with touches of Ikea here and there. But I just don't see JCP hooking that younger, hipper, trendier demographic in any real numbers and they're alienating the suburban soccer mom segment with their changes.

I have tried to find clothes for my older daughters at JCP, and I can find nothing. It is horrible! I have to scour the store to find things for myself, though it is possible. We still like to buy my husband'a work clothes there. We also get his tshirts there, they seem to be the only ones around with any big and tall. Am I the only one who liked the everyday low price thing they had? It was so much better than waiting for a coupon or sale. I have to wait now because their prices are so inflated.

I look in JCP every now and then, but they don't seem to sell anything I want to buy. I agree their merchandise seems limited and basic.

I have always relied on JC Penny's as a place I could find basic clothing, household stuff, etc. Now I look around and wonder where the merchandise is.
