Went to Bass Pro Shop's Santa Workshop today..

I may be weird, but I actually DO find it very appropriate. Wouldn´t have freaked out one bit and would have shown my kids them. Heck, the first time ever I ate meat from a reindeer, the head of the same reindeer was hanging stuffed on the wall above me. :rotfl:

..and I am STILL scratching my head about the appropriateness of this display. I don't have the link that someone posted here on the Dis, but it shows a huge Bass Pro Shop Santa Workshop with animatronic elves and trains and lots of stuff to see and do for the kids. We went today, and first off..if you have a small Bass Pro Shop, don't expect much. Ours is in a mall, and they had a few things for the kids to do: not much. BUT..right in between the Red Rider BB Rifle (Lasers) Game, and the Letters to Santa station were two REAL, DEAD, STUFFED REINDEER. I just stood there with my mouth hanging open for what seemed like an eternity. Then all I could do was hope my kids didn't see them. I have been in the BPS before, I know there are stuffed animals all over the store, but REALLY...DEAD REINDEER at the Christmas shop?

What do you guys think? I really thought this was outta line. Is it just me?

This is NOT a debate on hunting..please just a question about what you would like your kids to see over in the Santa Workshop area..

If the kids ask, they're stuffed animals. You're not lying to them and it explains it.

Well.. after they ran over Grandma, Grandpa did want revenge! :rotfl: :lmao:

:confused3 It's Bass Pro Shop....of course they have dead stuffed animals. Who cares what they are dressed like, if they're dead they're dead. A fake red nose and some jingle bells can't make it any worse than "dead.".

We went to the one in Orlando at Christmas one year and LOVED the display! I actually took about 20 picutres of it I thought it was so well done. They even had it looking like the Reindeers were taking off in flight. Really cool!

Um, I'm afraid you might not want to bring your children to my house, then, because we do have a caribou (Alaska's version of the reindeer, since reindeer aren't native to the U.S.) on the wall. He has his friend Mr. Elk on one side, and Misters Whitetail and Mulie on the other side. (I love DH, but dusting them gets really old, especially since he won't let me decorate them for Christmas!)

True story: when DS was little he used to look at the head mounts on the wall, then walk to the bedroom that backed on the same wall over and over again. I couldn't figure it out! When I finally asked him, he told me, "I thought their bodies would be on the other side of the wall!"

Yes, DH and DS do love Bass Pro Shops!

Ok, can't resist. How many of you now have 'Grandma got run over by a reindeer' running through your head? :duck: :rotfl2:

Hi y'all, I'm back. Just wanted to let you guys know that even my DH agrees with you guys! And he is really tenderhearted about animals and such, but he basically said the same thing you guys said, " It's Bass Pro Shop, whaddya expect?" So anyway..just wanted to let you know. If you like that kind of thing, they were gorgeous animals..I like them better alive, but that's not what they display there..It just seemed to me to be a poor choice. My thought was what if some little kids saw them, and thought that Santa's reindeer were dead? JMO.. Anyway, I'm over it now..

Like part of my post mentioned, the video on the website made Santa's Workshop look huge, but if you don't have a HUGE BPS, it will be disappointing. Only Letters to Santa table, coloring table, Red Rider shooting game, and a broken remote control 4X4, and two train tables. No animated elves or anything like that.

And they have Free Santa pictures, but evenings and Saturdays only..call for times if you are planning on that.
