So I went today to AAA to see if they can beat the quote I got for my August trip. I know AAA can give you a discount on the total package, and I wanted to see how much it was. Right now, I am booked at POR with the AAA rate through CRO at $119 a night for August 24-30. Total price on room is $804, and I know tickets (just priced them out again) will be $1040 for a 6 day base ticket after tax. $1844 for both.

My AAA quote for my package was $1850. So it's actually a few dollars more. :confused3 Standard room, same tickets, no meal plan. :confused3 Not sure what they were talking about to say that AAA can save you off the whole package- it didn't work for me!

BTW, the AAA guy said that this week has been unusually dead. He started talking about the economy, and it's really affecting his business (or that's his guess). Usually, he said, February/March is really busy with people planning summer vacations, not so much this year!

But, when I was dreaming big and had him check Contemporary for my stay, AAA rates were all booked up. :scared1: I was kind of hoping to get Contemporary with free dining- maybe not!!!!

Every time we checked with the AAA pricing for packages (room and tickets) it was always a little more money to book with them. I think the best prices and deals they give are through room only reservations.

Now I had the ooposite of your situation.Disney quoted me for BCV 1 br villa 9/21-9/27 ,tickets ( no water parks) and dining plan..3878.95 AAA quoted me 3189.55..maybe because I booked in Jan during AAA month:confused3

I believe AAA saves you only on the room rate, but if you wanted a package you have to book through AAA. If you only wanted the room you can book through Disney and get the AAA rate.

If you book through CRO w/ AAA you can get the AAA discount on the room only portion of your vacation. You don't need a travel agent for that. The only time it's necessary to book using the AAA agent is if you want the DDP as CRO cannot honor the AAA discount and do the pkg w/ the DDP-you must pay rack rate if you go through Disney for the DDP. We stay at the YC/BC when we go and our savings through AAA are $400-$500 less than CRO's quote because the room is approx. $80 less per night w/ the AAA discount in the pkg. w/ the DDP. If we weren't doing the DDP, I would not bother going to AAA-I'd just book it through CRO and get the AAA room discount (if available during that time frame).
