This movie was downright hilarious. Me and my husband both loved it.

Except...

Right at the beginning when the Rascal Flatts break out into "Life Is a Highway." :crazy2: My mouth dropped and I literally though, "Oh no they di-unt." They took an awesome rock song (one I will admit to jamming to as a kid) and turned it into a tooty-fruity country-pop song.

This is a song that should have been left alone. I think the original version would have done awesome in "Cars."

Blech. Vent over. :) :firefight

ETA: This is not a rant about the Rascal Flatts. Just the song.

Uh oh...Rascal Flatts fan here :teeth: - I actually love both versions of this song and think the original would have been fine too. :)

I loved the movie too.... and bought the soundtrack because my son LOVED the music, especially that song.... :rolleyes1

Loved the movie and the song. It is DS's (and my) favorite song on the soundtrack!

The original version was good as well :thumbsup2

This was a vent purely for my sake. I know a lot of people love the Rascal Flatts and probably would like any song by them, but this remake was just bad, IMO. Eek, I guess I better go add the "flame suit" smiley to my OP.

Let's see where it goes :thumbsup2

No suit required.... everyone has different tastes in music... Heck, my DS(6)loves Kelly Clarkson!

Oh, I guess that means I have to like it then.
:confused3 :confused3 :confused3
no just that lots of others do

we need an opion board on the CB popcorn::

Well I also bought my DS (5) the soundtrack and I must say that being a Canadian, and since this song was originally done by Tom Cochrane and Red Rider (a Canadian band), I was a bit peeved. I just try to listen to the others songs more. Dont get me wrong, I like Rascal Flatts, the original version just has many fond memories.

ITA the Tom Cochrane version is much better!

That is one of my all time favourite songs and it just isnt the same.

Great movie though, eh?

I can tell you don't watch the Disney channel much in your house, do you? They've been playing that song something like 20 times a day for the past several months.

I've grown used to it. :lmao:

I have to say that Tom Cochrane is one of my favorite Canadian Artist, right up there with Honeymoon Suite from the 80's! I once saw Tom up in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario! He is awesome.
I've yet to see CARS, but look forward to hearing the new version!

No, I don't watch the Disney channel. LOL!

We finally got to see Cars yesterday too. All shows still sold out. Unbelieveable. I thought the song was pretty good. I enjoy it any way it is done. The movie was great! We all really enjoyed it. Larry the cable guy made the show. He was wonderful!! Get 'er done! :thumbsup2

Never really liked the original and that high pitched chorus. I really like the remake though.

See another difference of opinion.
I thought the movie was great too, but in spite of Larry the cable guy, not because of him. ;)
(had a hard time getting the image of Larry out of my mind for some reason and I just plain don't care for him)
Don't tell my DD that though, she loved Mater!

Now so I'm not totally off topic...
I like both versions of the song. :thumbsup2
