I have heard rumors for as long as I can remember that Wendy's frosties were potato-based or heavy on potato content. Has anyone else heard this? Is that the old recipe or just urban legend?

I dont know about that but I always used to dip my french fries in the frosty and it was soooooo good

Oh Yummy. Makes me want to run right out and get a potato shake:rotfl2:

Jack-Jack..you come up with some oddball things..LOL
I have NO idea if they are potato based...they don't taste it :confused3

Same here. A Friday night ritual in high school was dinner at Wendy's with the obligatory frosty for our fries.

MMmmmmmmm...just like Mom used to make!!

Did you not read it said Artificial and Natural Flavoring;)

Oh I thought they ground up the potatoes left-over from the day before & made them, same concept as their chilli.... ;)

The fact that the nutrition label warns that it contains MILK is particularly humorous to me.

I can't believe so many of you eat your fries that way! I thought my DD and her friends were crazy for that--and surely no other sane person would dip fries in a dfrosty, but--I guess I was wrong:confused3

If you like Wendy's Frosty's here is a great recipe for your ice cream maker: tastes so yummy, just like a Frosty and really easy too.

1/2 gallon chocolate milk
Large tub of Cool - Whip
1 can sweetened condensed milk like Eagle Brand

Pour milk and Eagle brand in ice cream maker add Cool Whip until full.

Run your ice cream maker just like you would with any other recipe or mix. The ice cream will never get really hard, it is more like soft serve or Frosty consistancy.

The frosties are OK but I love their chocolate chip cookies. Sadly, most of the Wendy's don't have them any longer. A few still do around here in NE PA and I try to plan my trip accordingly so I can stop there for lunch (even if it's a little out of my way).

Avid label reader, here. I eat absolutely NOTHING without knowing the ingredients. There are common allergens which are referenced in capital, bold letters at the end of every ingredients list. Wheat, milk, soy, peanuts, shellfish, etc. This is to ensure that a quick perusal doesn't miss something a person is allergic to and result in a reaction. Also, there is a lot of "hidden" dairy in foods. Someone might not know that casein is a milk protein, but can easily see and understand the word MILK at the end. Yes, it seems silly to point out there's milk in a supposed dairy product, but you would be surprised at some of the things which DON'T contain any milk at all! ;)
