I know this is quite off topic but I was wondering if any DIS'ers live in Welland and also if anyone here has attended Niagara College in Welland?

My DS is interested in the Paramedic's program at the college and we were looking at really nice new condo bungalows there, but we were wondering what the area is like?:D

Thanks for any help you can give me.:sunny:

Well sammi, it has one nice chinese restaurant and seaway mall, for anything else, theres niagara falls or st catharines, haha. I mean its not a bad place, just not a big ball of excitement. How u doing? PM me if u have any questions.

Hi Maryann! We're doing well thanks, how about you Steve and the girls?:D

Well I love Chinese food so that's one plus isn't it? lol;)

PM's on it's way.:sunny:

I have lived in Welland for 18 years and can't imagine myself living anywhere else. Sure it's not a huge city or anything, but there is plenty of stuff to do here and in the surrounding area.

I attended Niagara College in the 90's and loved it. It's a great school and the campus is small, but pretty.

The city is expanding with a huge new Wal Mart coming and other retail development, so it's something to look forward to.

Good luck in your decision, Niagara College is a great choice, and Welland is nice.

Thanks so much for replying beglluvr.:D The property we've been considering is on First St. (not First Ave) in the city's east end. The house is brand new but the area looks a little "rough". Is the eastside of Welland a nice safe place to live?:D Or is this area just an older part of the city?

The more I read about Niagara College the more I like it. The courses are very easy to understand.:D

First St. is not too far from where I live and, you're right, it is just an older part of the city. There is no real high-crime area here, but I would avoid anything too close to the Stelpipe plant (Steel St. Area).

If you have any more questions... post here or pm me.

If I remember correctly isn't First St close to Stelpipe?

Thanks again for your information.

It's actually several blocks from Stelpipe... there's an area right across Ontario St from the plant that's not the best, First St. is like a different world compared to Steel St.

Thanks so much for all your great information beglluvr.:D We've got a ton of things to think about now!;)
