Hi all, Im typing from my new house ***** squeeeee****

Moving Day was a NIGHTMARE I swear they sent us the slowest movers on the planet, 9 HOURS with those guys, I want to kill my own family after nine hours can you imagine how I felt about these guys plus I had to pay them afterwards!

LOL

BUT we're here and its wonderful the people who sold us the house actually live right behind us ( they owned both houses one for business) and so they came over last night and we sat on our porch and drank wine and just talked for hours, it was so nice!

My best friend lives right around the corner, our kids are all stepped in ages with our oldest both being boys and they have 3 girls that are all close to mine and theyve all been friends since they were babes. Her ds came over last night and brought us dinner that his mom had picked up and stayed and played and oh my... it was just so... homey... I know we're going to love it here!

The cats have finally come out of hiding... they do NOT appreciate a good car ride! I have the scars to prove it. The little one was very skittish but shes getting used to it and the big one was ok after a few hours and now is back to owning the place. The dog is heaven, there are SQUIRRELS in the backyard. She just lays in the yard and stares at the fence and the trees ( older neighbourhood, lots of trees) and watches as the squirrles just tease her I swear its like a cartoon with the squirrel hanging off the branch shaking its fist at the dog!

Sorry, Im babbling but Im just so happy, Its just so well... right... KWIM?

I will try to catch up later... just wanted to let you know I survived.

congratulations-i only hope i am in such good spirits after we move in a couple of weeks (and ours is only a few blocks away). the moving company estimated at 9 1/2 hours for ours!

That's wonderful, Binny!! How exciting!! Sounds like you picked the perfect place for you and your family. :goodvibes

Since this is all still fresh in your mind...if you have any tips for moving that you didn't think about before, please let me know! We'll be moving to our first house in 2 weeks!! :cool1:

Cool beans Binny :) So true about cats and car rides

Awwww Binny, I'm so happy for you. You sound SO happy. That's just awesome. It sounds like your own little piece of heaven, which is perfect, and how a home should feel.

my number one tip label label label!!! Everything gets a label.

Number the boxes and the rooms however you want to do it but trust me, when you you're packing and you think " oh Ill remember this is the yellow bowl that I will need right away" trust me on this one you WONT. You wont have any idea and you will spend HOURS searching for just one thing!!

I made signs for each room and labeled the boxes, I STILL spent 2 hours directing traffic. " where do you want this Ma'am?" ummmm lets see it says MASTER CLOSET. yeah...

Do a walk through with your movers before they start bringing stuff in, whether its professional movers or friends helping out let them know where everything is located. " This is the office, this is the living room" speak plainly LOL. I found utensils ( well labeled) in my closet and toys in the kitchen.

also make sure you have PLENTY of cold drinks on hand fill a cooler with ice and water and Gatorade, I forgot to do that this time around. Coffee too.

Have cell phones handy in case your phones aren't hooked up yet (even if you had them scheduled these things happen)

Scuzzy clothes to move in. Anything that breathes is good.

Be prepared to eat out. Tonight was our first sit down, non fast food night in almost a week. blech.

pack your own electronics and valuables.

bring snacks like trail mix and other things to keep you going.

Make sure you bring some toilet paper and paper towels in the first box. important... enough said.

a bag of rags is good too and some cleaner.

have a sense of humour, things will go wrong, if you get up tight about it ( like I have a tendency to do) you will stress yourself out too much and you will regret it.

remember, as Beauty told me last week, take a deep breath and realize that there is no other choice but to get it done BUT its only temporary. keep saying to yourself 48 hours from now it will all be over. There is a song out I cant remember the name of but one of the lines " Lord I know, the only way is through this and I know only You can help me do this" and that was my mantra all week. :)

If I think of anything else Ill let you know :)

Good luck!!

Thanks so much Binny! Hearing how excited you are in your new home makes me even more anxious to move into ours! :cool1:

your welcome and thanks everyone I *am* happy :)

Its very quiet here, Ive met the neighbours and theyre all nice. No one is obnoxious or drives too fast, it isnt a main throughorfare so you kind of have to mean to go down this street on purpose lol.

Im anxious to get all unpacked but it will have to wait a few days. Im going out on my porch for a glass of wine now...

Slainte!

I always take 1 box and put in:

1 bath size towel for each family member
washcloths
2 bottles shampoo
a few bars of soap
a change of clothes for each family member
package of new socks
set of sheets for each bed/mattress
toilet paper

This box is marked with a big red X on all sides so it is easy to locate when everyone is exhausted and just wants to take a shower and put some clean clothes on and sheets to stick on the mattress to crash!!!

Congrats Binny! It sounds wonderful! I was wondering about you guys! Same phone number?

yep same phone numbers, D :)

Too bad you guys moved, would love to have you over, there is SO much more space now for the kids to play and they would love the big yard!

I'm so glad you are at least there - and more importantly - you are happy!! There's no price to put on happiness. Hope you have many happy years there.

thanks :)

and thanks Marti for all the support last week :)

Glad to hear everything's falling into place. Sounds like it was the right choice for a house. :)

Congrats! :goodvibes

You know, as bad has having movers do it might be, believe me, doing it yourself is worse! After my last move I swore that if we ever move again, we're paying people to pack and move us. Doing it ourselves last time almost killed the both of us, and that was just moving a two bedroom condo into a three bedroom house! Next time we'll have twice the junk to move!

It sounds like you have a great house in a great area! Good luck!

Was it your dd that you were concerned with prior to the move? How has she handled it?

good memory Teenee and thanks for asking.

Yes, I was really worried about her. She is fine now though. I talked to her teacher yesterday to see how she was doing there, the day after we moved in here she was back to normal :)

She said she was amazed but it was like a light went off and the old Kaylee was back! :)

She is really happy now because last night she got to have a bath in the "great Big Bubbly tub" LOL we have a big corner jacuzzi tub in our master bathroom.

She said " I LOVE this new house!"

So I guess we are forgiven for moving and I have my cheery one back.
