We went to every major dealer in the town we were shopping in, and there are a LOT of them, and to some small, independent places and there just wasn't much there. The cars we were interested in all had problems, mostly really smelly interiors (one smelled like vomit, the rest were smokey). We drove pretty much everything we wanted and finally settled on a Saturn, mostly for price. They had the prices of most of the cars jacked up so high, I know you can haggle, but they were $200-3000 over Edmunds dealer retail price. We tried to negotiate on a Honda Accord and they just wouldn't come down for us so we left. The Saturn was priced right at the Edmund's price and they gave us a good trade in for our van. DH was calculating the money he will save in gas alone, which is HUGE. Thanks for all the help.

I have had 3 saturns and loved them! I only swithced since they didn't have a van the last time I bought a new car....but I still hang on to my old 99 saturn as an old knock around station car...it has almost 60,000 miles on it and never anything wrong with it. The body is in excellent shape no dents, scratches rust etc.

Dh drives a 99 Saturn we bought new and it's never had a problem. It still even looks new (and we still think of it as our "new" car - how sad it that! :teeth: ). It gets awesome gas mileage too :goodvibes

I have an '02 Saturn sedan that I bought used that is also a great car.

Don't tell DH, but I'm secretly hoping one of them will eventually die so I can get one of the new Relays. (but not for at least two more years - we won't have the money for one until then... )

Enjoy your Saturn! :goodvibes

Laurie :)

I love my Vue. Did not think I would ever like a SUV. We went shopping for a car and ended up back at Saturn for the Vue.

We are on our 3rd Saturn. DH drives a sedan and I drive a Vue and I love it. We already know that our next car will be a Saturn as well.

I hope you have as much luck with your Saturn as we have ours. Between DW and me and our two DDs we have bought several Saturns and they've worked out very well for us. :)

I love my Saturn! :goodvibes

It's a '97 SL2 I bought brand new. I have put nearly 156K miles on it and still averaging over 30mpg. She's a gool ol' car and I hope to get another 50K out of her. I plan to drive her til she won't go no more and then I'll buy another Saturn. Maybe a Vue.

You'll love it. We have 2 Saturns; DH drives a 2000 SL2. I have a new 2005 Relay. Can't say enough good about them and just thank goodness they finally came out with the Relay...I was waiting SO long for them to come out with a minivan, even though they call it a crossover.

Hey, us too! Except DH's is a 2001 SC2. Bought it used last year before his 92 SL fell apart. The engine was still going strong and the outside looked great, but little things started happened inside: first the odometer stopped working, then the radio nobs fell off, then the carpet started coming up, then the window started leaking...... it was time to put that car to rest. :flower3:

Love my Relay. :cool1:

I'm on my second Saturn. My first was a 2001 SL1. I traded it in last June for a 2005 Ion quadcoupe. The only problem I had with my first Saturn was the sunroof. It came off track and they replaced it. So far no issues with my new one but it only had 5000 miles on it. :flower: One of the reasons I love saturn, besides affordability and reliability, is the sales. No pressure, no haggling and nice people. That will keep me a Saturn driver for a long time.

My very first NEW car was a Saturn, and I absolutely loved it!! We only traded it in because we needed to get a van when the kids came along. I really miss that car some days!

What model did you get? We are on our 4th and 5th Saturns.

We started out with the SWII, then DH got a coupe, then I got a L200, then DH got a 2004 VUE, and now I have a 2005 Relay.

We LOVE Saturn.

I LOVE my relay.

The battery did die after I was away for 2.5 weeks. But in getting something else checked, they discovered the factory settings in the computer were left on and that was why it died. So I am back to loving my relay after a brief bout of hatred for it. :)

I've had 3 Saturns now myself-LOVE them! I got a used Saturn in 1997 and was hooked! It was my first stick shift and I taught myself how to drive one in that vehicle... we traded it in 2 years later for a brand-new one.... then I stupidly traded it in for a Dodge Caravan (hated that minivan and HATED the dealer... we were so used to dealing with Saturn's no-haggles policy up til then!) After 2 yrs of the minivan, I traded it in Sept. 2004 for a brand new Saturn VUE.... I LOVE MY VUE! It's red... so sporty and fun-just the right size for us!! :)

Same here 1997 SL1 though. And she has 111662 Miles on her. She's been Coast to coast and has only had one major issue, had to rebuild her manual transmission. I plan to drive her till she won't go any further as well. She's a great car. My next vehicle will either be another Saturn (mayhaps the Sky) or a VW Bug. Or if I'm lucky I'll get a Toyota Prius like my DBF. ;)
