2 little kids under age 4 came to our door ( alone) with a cardboard box holding dixie cups 1/2 full of water or iced tea...selling them door to door for $.50 each! I bought one, but afterwards, I thought, what the heck? These little kids on their own, and water? Door to door? I don't need any flames, little kids etc., but to be honest I have a no solicitors sticker but yeah, you have to be old enough to read it! The only reason I bought one was in case these kids are neighbors,( we have has some houses sell so new kids around) but not going to repeat that again...as a parent I would NEVER send my toddler out door to door and since all those cups were filled and they knew to ask for $.50 I am pretty sure someone older than them was involved.

:confused3 I would NOT drink it-that is nuts!

One Saturday night at 8pm 3 young kids (around 8 years old) rang our front bell and told me "Papa" said it was ok for them to come in my house.
I had no idea who they were-but figured they were the grandkids of the people next door(whom i dont speak to-long story) that I'd seen from a distance swimming in their pool.
I told them sternly to go home.

Well for starters, they are preschoolers not toddlers, not that it matters.;)

Weird. I would not buy anything, YIKES! I don't encourage stupidity.

I did buy some candy bars this weekend for a buck a piece from a little kid who had to be about 6yo selling for his cub scout pack. SOOOO CUTE.

I did not know him however dad was right there at the end of the driveway so I felt OK buying although I did tell him it does not help my diet.

I poured the *iced tea* down the sink..and I did ask if their folks were around as I did not see anyone, the little boy said, yeah, he's at home...:confused3 Normally I would have declined but honestly, this caught me off guard as I had a house full of teens downstairs, was on the phone with my mom...but it was just uncomfortable all the way around.

And those parenstw ill be the first peopel screaming when theirkids get kidnapped and then blaming the police for not finding them in 5 seconds.

Oh good. The thought of drinking "iced tea" from a 4yo is more than I can bear.:lmao:

You know, with the economy the way it is, the little kids are probably just trying to "help". I am going to give them a pass that they were not sinister and just innocent.

Of course I would have probably grilled them in their venture.....:rolleyes1

Why, do you think someone was out to poison the OP using their 4 year old?

The only issue I would have had was that they were so young walking up to stranger's doors all by themselves. As far as the selling of the drinks, they probably have witnessed solicitors at their house selling things and just wanted to make money. Since they were so young they probably had no idea that this was not normal. If they come again, I would just tell them its not a good idea to go to a stranger's house when they are not with an adult and they could set up their own stand witrh mom and dad's help.

I would have asked where they lived and walked them back home. If I saw them back out again, I would have called the police. Children under the age of 4 should not be walking the streets of a neighborhood alone, knocking on people's doors.

First thing out of my mouth would've been "where's your mommy?" Then I would've done what Princess Tiffany did.

Where WERE the parents???? :scared:

Most likely the parents had no idea they were selling drinks door to door. My friend got a call from a neighbor last week. Her 8 year old was going around the neighborhood selling water balloons. She was horrified and got him inside pronto.

I have a 4 year old and I would not allow or encourage this type of behavior. For those saying that maybe the parents didn't know, didn't they realize that their 4 year old was missing?

Sounds like the parents are being neglectful if the 4 year old is able to get out of the house and stay out for an extended length of time without her absence being noted and all the alarms going off.

No 4 year old should be allowed to roam the neighborhood let alone going to strange houses and ringing the bell.

I do not know their exact age, I posted "under 4" as a guesstimate. I called 2 of my neighbors this morning asking if they had been hit up, they said they were not home so did not see the kids but also said that was nuts. One said she thought she saw a lemonade stand set up down the street earlier in the day so perhaps these were stragglers of that venture? As far as *poison fears* I poued the tea out due to other thoughts..grimey hands, not exactly mixed right, if parents WEREN'T involved who knows what was poured just for fun?:confused3 The little girl was lugging the cardboard box that held the drink cups ( so you can imagine how much was spilled) no wagon, so that does make me think that maybe the parents didn't know as most would at least set up a wagon or something easier for door to door than a cardboard box.

I would have done the same thing you did. Sounds like they may have had a stand set up that didnt get enough visitors and they decided to go door to door for more business.:rotfl:

Dirt-made with unclean hands-outside-pollen falling in the drink-that was what I was referring to....not poison:)

 It wasn't until I saw the OP's response that I even thought of that, it was a DUH moment for me :headache:
I have 3 kids who like to make me things to eat and drink, so I guess I'm just used to eating or drinking things made with possible unclean hands, or pollen (or worse) ridden drinks to even think that would be cause to dump it :).

OP, maybe the stand was run by older siblings who sent the young ones out to sell what was left. Its possible that the parents had no idea what was going on (not excusing it, just saying that they may have been in the care of someone other than the parent at the time).
